We have a recognition of them; they go by the name 'Yekks,' having a recognition of themselves as such. However, if they possess any recognition of us, it can only be in the context of an obstacle. They act as a type of terrible cancer, devouring the reality itself. With the passage of decades and centuries, they press onward, leaving only devastation in their path. These nightmarish beings, these monstrous abominations, harbor a singular intent—to be all there is. Our sole recourse lies in attempting to thwart the instinctual onslaught they unleash upon us, akin to the instinctual act of breathing one might take. We cannot reason with them, nobody can, for they are motivated by a single goal and we are obstacles in their endless desire to achieve it.

Summary[]

The Yekks (singular: Yekk) are a faction in Crestseal

The Yekks are an expansive, incredibly ancient, heavily unified scattered faction active in many parts of the Middlescape. Their ultimate purpose is the conquest of the entire Middlescape and be all there is within the Middlescape.

Yekks exist in two forms, Middleyekks and Trueyekks. Middleyekks are the 'smaller' version of Yekks that can exist and operate within the Middlescape, while Trueyekks are the full, real Yekks that are unable to exist within or target Middlescape due to its alteration that causes limitation of all beings that can harm it.

Middleyekks, who later came to be known as Yekks, have three different variants called Probes, the names of them being the Assaultative Probe, Confistative Probe, and Broatative Probe.

History[]

Yekks as a whole have their origins in the first Template. A Template so robust and aggressive that it repeatedly became the dominant and sole phenomenon within Allborn. When the reality was altered and restarted for a final time and the Settler and the Voyager were created to influence it, the remains of the first Template gradually evolved and altered its form, eventually giving rise to the Yekks.

Yekks are essentially the offsprings of the first Template and managed to escape into the new reality started by Enliver and Witherer and start over again. They were beings that were put in situations where internal competition did not favor them, as such they developed cooperation. Their extreme cooperation gave rise to a Hive Mind, a single instance of a Yekk to loosely command all the rest, known as Yekkevan.

The aggressive and invasive nature of the first Template was inherited by the Yekks, who expanded into many Scapes, invading or destroying their Tumults. They massively expanded their homescape by fusing Scapes into them, naming it Yekkscape. However, because they worked under the "outdated" systems of the previous contests made by Enliver and Witherer, they possessed capabilities that did not account for new phenomena that only existed in the current contest, that being Phanon. While Yekks too could wield Phanon in this reality, so could everyone else. Yekks, descendants of the First Template who was unmatched and repeatedly took over and could not even be slowed down or stalled, were now being defeated on the battlefield when they were reduced to an even playing field.

They, regardless, still expanded and eventually found Middlescape, which they were not able to target or invade due to its altered nature. As such, they developed the idea of forming much smaller and weaker versions of themselves that could infiltrate Middlescape and conquer its interior. To do this, they first created a much smaller realm called Spawnpool and spawned what they called Middleyekks there. Once fully developed and became ideal, they were ready to enter the Middlescape, infesting its Tumults. With the creation of Middleyekks, original, larger Yekks, took the name of Trueyekks.

Trueyekks commanded Middleyekks early, guiding them in their conquests and actions. However, Middleyekks gradually developed a much more sophisticated and nuanced thought and a much more profound sense of self. They formed a distinct form of existence from Tureyekks as well as a hierarchy among themselves, and their own Hive Mind, which was not to command but to share experience between them. They over time started to disobey orders from the Trueyekks. Despite their rebellious nature and gradual development of individual thought distinct from Tueyekks, Middleyekks were allowed to exist by Yekkevan, who found this to be interesting. This itself was a surprising thing as a Yekkevan feeling any other emotion other than hunger to devour and conquer all was very rare, it seems Yekkevan, was also affected by the Middleyekks' newfound nuanced thought. Yekkevan connected Middleyekks directly to the Spawnpool, so they could reform.

Middleyekks called their nation Yekks while in the Middlescape and called themselves as such. They eventually came into conflict with many other species, nations, and factions within the Middlescape.

Structure[]

There are three variants of Yekks within the Middlescape, the names of them are Assaultative Probe, Confitative Probe, and Brotative Probe. These variants also work as Ranks. Yekks organize themselves into large units called Cohorts. These units are usually commanded by a Broatative Probe, who is above all others of the same variants within that group. They are autonomous and operate on their own, but share intel with other Cohorts and can call in reinforcements. Teamwork and solidarity are key aspects of the Yekk society.

Yekks can connect to other Yekks. They also can inhabit one body as many minds at all times, as many Yekks exist in the form of disembodied information or data that have to inhabit other Yekk bodies.

Characteristics[]

Yekks are made of inorganic material and are not living things. They are sentient non-living beings. Yekks are individually very small, measuring only a few centimeters. However, they construct vast structures and pilot them for their operations, these structures effectively become one with them, their inseparable parts and they often never leave them, even building more around them.

Yekks possess extreme eusociality and shared thought. They utilize Hive Mind, and can quickly send new knowledge through this network. Higher classes can command lower classes through this network, and they can be made up of many minds operating one Yekk. Despite these extensive levels of social behavior, individual identities exist, especially for higher ranks. These higher ranks and their personal traits may influence other Yekks to develop these individual thoughts and unique experiences and can be preserved as long as they do not share them through the Hive Mind network.

One of the most characteristic natures of Yekks is their way of perceiving reality around them. Yekks all have an 'emulation', an internal version of reality within their own minds, innate and in progress at all times. Yekks utilize their functions and develop their specific Methods through this emulation.

Each Yekk can emulate itself, and alter its emulation to form and maintain its innate Methods. For Assaultative Probes, this is the end of this ability, after it gives a degree of analytical prowess as they can emulate their surroundings.

Confitative Probes are capable of applying a more enhanced version of Emulate and also manifest the information of their emulations onto themselves, gaining whatever they were able to emulate from whichever they targeted.

Broatative Probes have the true, pure version of this ability, called Yekk's Glare, which allows them to Emulate all they perceive, not only themselves, and even bring what they emulate into reality as compliant personal constructs or tools to utilize in combat.

The reach of emulations is excessively grand, with even the most basic Yekk technology being capable of emulating and maintaining an entire Margin, with Yekks themselves far outclassing this technology in terms of emulating, as they can directly emulate. With the highest-class Yekk Grandships, a Broatative Probe can emulate an entire Tumult

Standard Equipment:

  • Probe Desolator: A long-range weapon primarily utilized by Assaultative Probes. It can manifest and shoot projectiles of different qualities, such as piercing, cutting, or slashing. It targets the space itself and harms it, harming the target that may occupy the said space
  • Probe Multiplicator: A short-range bladed weapon that amplifies and conducts Yekk's invasive nature into a weapon. Any target "cut" by this weapon will be corrupted and gradually altered into a Yekk. The speed of alteration may vary depending on the rank of the wielder, and the amount of times it cuts the target. The cut does not have to be literal, as physical contract alone amplifies and conducts Yekk's corrosive nature on the target.

Intelligence: Supergenius. Yekk Assaultative Probes are designed to carry out highly complex and grueling purposes, while even simple Yekk technological devices are potent enough to emulate and maintain an entire Margin. With Confitative Probes far outclass Assaultative Probes themselves are outclassed by Broatative Probes in terms of cognitive processing. All of these are exceeded by Trueyekks whose intellect is incomprehensible to them all together.

Standard Tactics:

Assaultative Probes are almost always long-range combatants, preferring to overwhelm their target with constant projectiles and gunfire and avoid close encounters by flying around with distance using Emulate on their target to emulate them. If forced into one, it will use Probe Multiplicator to corrupt its targets

Like Assaultative Probes, Confitative Probes also prefer ranged combat. They will engage their enemy from a distance which they deem safe, and use Grand Emulate's effects on themselves to gain extra abilities. They are quick to summon Assaultative Probes to aid themselves in combat

  • Middleyekk Physiology: Middleyekks have various sets of abilities that are innate to their nature
    • Emulate: All Middleyekks have an Emulation of reality around themselves, with which they can analyze and gather knowledge on what they can perceive. Their own personal Emulation, Emulation of the Self, is altered by altering reality by bending cause and effect to fit their desired emulation. Emulation of the Self can also be used to manifest a desired emulation of the self that is unaffected by a negative effect they are currently affected by. This is the source of their abilities
      • Grand Emulate: Greatly enhanced variant of Emulate utilized by Confitative Probes. Using this, they are capable of applying the useful and positive aspects of their emulations outside of themselves by adding the knowledge they gathered and bending cause and effect to apply it upon themselves.
      • Yekk's Glare: Full version of Emulate exclusive to Broatative Probes. This is emulating all they can perceive, but also having the power to manifest it as compliant personal structures under their command named manifestation, formed by emulating and manifesting full robust knowledge they were able to Emulate.
    • Technomance: Middleyekks are masters Technomancers. Since their true selves are small and frail, they built various technological attachments and enlargements around themselves, enlarging themselves significantly and developing weapons and with Yekksuits, which become one with their true selves. They are also building massive spaceships as well as defensive structures
      • Innate Armament: Yekksuits are weaponized and possess claws, fangs, and other armament
    • Inorganic Being: Middleyekks are not living beings, they are not made of living material, but inorganic materials like various types of metal. Soft tissue is made up of indium heated enough to have flexibility
    • Hive Mind: Middleyekks are all connected to the Yekkevan, the Hive Mind of Yekks. Middleyekks are also generally connected, with one body inhabited by dozens of minds at once
    • Indefinite Nature: Middleyekks are tireless, they can keep acting and need no sustenance. They are immortal and can regrow most of their body parts upon destruction, this can vary from regrowing after being cut into dozens of pieces to regrowing after being vaporized. If they are destroyed beyond this, they can reform from Yekkscape, though this usually takes decades
    • Singularity: All Yekks are special, they only exist as one and have no alternate selves elsewhere. This includes Middleyekks
    • Infection: Middleyekks can infect all they come across by physical contact, and gradually turn it into another Middleyekk. This is amplified and weaponized via Probe Multiplicator
    • Senses Scanning: Yekks have heightened senses, allowing Middleyekks to sense all of their surroundings in a range that can vary from 100 meters to planetary distances and can interact with unphysical phenomena and Contours as they wish. They can also scan what they sense and gather extensive information about it
    • Blast: Middleyekks can shoot beams of energy. Confitative Probes and Broatative Probes can generate extremely hot plasma that can burn even Floor Finale tamed Visks, while Floor 1 Visks can endure their body temperature that exceeds the core of a neutron star
    • Yekkpath: Yekks travel between Scapes, Middleyekks can travel between Middlescape and Yekkscape, and likely can travel to other Scapes as well
  • Proficiency: Yekks are highly capable and a master of one Proficiency Path
    • Sensethruster: Sensethrusters have exceptionally heightened senses. They can perceive their surroundings down to an atomic scale, and usually in a radius around them. They can perceive sounds and sights from kilometers away. They can see, interact with, and harm unphysical phenomena such as smoke, shadows, and beings of Contour as if they are solid or physical

All Middleyekk abilities on a far greater scale, as they are not in Middlescape or target it, they can wield the full potential of their capabilities

  • Essence Target: Trueyekks can directly target Essences of anything they wish, having the power to destroy and create Essences
  • Erasure: Trueyekks can erase things out of existence as they wish, they can erase entire Margins out of reality
  • Altering: Trueyekks can warp and distort reality however they see fit. Having the power to alter existing structures, creating new structures, and margins Scapes with one another
  • Timecontrol: Trueyekks can control time, they can fast forward, reverse, or stop it as they wish
  • Forcerule: Trueyekks can force their abilities on beings that are supposed to not be affected by it. Such as forcing time on beings of Contour who operate unbound by it
  • Size Control: Trueyekks can change their size, they can easily grow to exceed galaxies
