Summary

Mysterious beasts that are able to become one with shadows, practically becoming omnipresent in dark places such as caves and are the most dangerous during the night. Because of their nature, they are invulnerable to all physical methods of attack. However, objects and abilities that can produce light are extremely effective against them and are able to disperse them from the surrounding shadows, although they will regain this structure whenever it is possible.

Shadow Beasts are the remains of the dead whose souls has been trapped in Limbo and are unable to escape due to grievous sins. Thus, whatever remained of them in the physical world exists solely as an intangible shadow with no recognition to what they once were, no longer having any will.

Powers and Abilities:

Camouflage, Durability Negation (Their claws are able to pass right through armor and rends the flesh of whatever they touch, regardless of how tough they may be), Invulnerability (Shadow Beasts are completely invulnerable to several forms of damage. The only known way to fight these beasts is to disperse their form using a source of light, whether it is natural light or light from magic. The light produced from fire and lightning has also been shown to work, although they are not affected by the fire or lightning itself), Incorporeality, Intangibility (Immaterial), Immortality (Type 1, 5, 8, & 9 [As they are not biological creatures, they do not age and are beyond the concepts of conventional life and death. As long as their true nature remains in Limbo, they are able to regain their structure in the physical world), limited Nigh-Omnipresence (Shadow Beasts are able to completely encompass an area of darkness), Regeneration (Low-Godly [Shadow Beasts are able to regain their structure in the physical world as long as their true nature remains inside Limbo]), Self-Sustenance (All Types [Shadow Beasts are not living creatures, as such, they do not require any nutrition or even breathe]), Stealth Mastery, Supernatural Willpower (They do not have any capacity to think for themselves as they do not have a will, granting resistance to many psychological abilities such as Empathic, Fear, Madness, Mind, and Morality Manipulation). Acausality (Type 5 [As Shadow Beasts' true nature exists beyond the concept of time, the concept of fate no longer exists for them and all alternate possibilities of them retaining their fate are completely nonexistent. This aspect also makes them unaffected by causality entirely]), Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 2), Large Size (Type 11), and Higher-Dimensional Manipulation for their true nature (The true form of Shadow Beasts reside in Limbo)

Body Puppetry and Possession (Type 1 [Shadow Beasts can possess a victim's shadow in order to gain control over the victim's motor functions])

Age, Biological, Blood, Bone, Corrosion, Disease, Life/Death, Pain, Petrification, and Poison Manipulation (Shadow Beasts are unbound by conventional life and death and lack biological parts such as blood and bones. They are also unable to age, decay, be turned to stone, or feel physical or mental pain in any manner), Empathic, Fear, Madness, Mind, and Morality Manipulation (Via Supernatural Willpower), Darkness Manipulation (Type 3 [Shadow Beasts rely on darkness as they exists as a physical shadow of as a reflection of a soul residing in Limbo]), Elemental, Matter/Antimatter (Quantum level), and Radiation Manipulation (Via Invulnerability). Causality, Fate, Probability, and Time Manipulation (Via Acausality)

Attack Potency: Unknown, bypasses conventional durability with their normal attacks (Their claws are stated to pass right through armor and rends the flesh of whatever it touches, regardless of how tough they may be. Capable of possessing shadows to control the victim's body to make them kill themselves with their own abilities)

Speed: Speed of Light (Exists as a shadow, thus they are capable of moving at the speed of light), Nigh-Omnipresent in darkness (Shadow Beasts are able to completely encompass an area of darkness, making traveling at night or in caves extremely dangerous, and is heavily recommended to have several methods to produce light at all times when traveling in dark places)

Lifting Strength: Inapplicable (Shadow Beasts can be considered 2-dimensional creatures as they exist as a mere reflection on a surface, thus they do not possess any physical strength by 3-dimensional standards. They can, however, appear as a 3-dimensional shadow, but they still do not possess any kind of physical strength)

Striking Strength: Unknown, bypasses conventional durability with their normal attacks (Their claws are stated to pass right through armor and rend the flesh of whatever they touch, regardless of how tough the target may be)

Durability: Unknown (Due to their nature, they are invulnerable to most methods of attack, although they are extremely vulnerable to methods that produce light. Even merely shining a dim light may be enough to disperse their form for a period of time), Outerverse level to Outerverse level+ for their true nature (The only way to truly "kill" a Shadow Beast is to destroy their trapped soul residing in Limbo and release their remains from the physical world entirely. Shadow Beasts can manifest on different levels of Limbo, even on the highest layer)

Stamina: Irrelevant (Stamina has no meaning whatsoever for shadows)

Range: Standard Melee Range normally. Varies on how large the area of darkness is.

Standard Equipment: None

Intelligence: Appears Mindless, but they do have a level of sentience to know to kill weaker opponents with a much stronger victim they are possessing.

Weaknesses:

  • Any source that can produce some form of light, including fire or lightning.
  • Unable to affect materials such as rock, crystal, or metal, making constructs completely invulnerable to their normal attacks, but they can still be possessed by their shadow.

Feats: None notable

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Shadow Possession: The Shadow Beast possesses the victim's shadow and gains control over the victim's motor functions. When their shadow is possessed, the victim can attempt to fight back and try to expel the Shadow Beast's possession. When under control, the Shadow Beast will try to quickly dispatch the victim using methods such making the victim kill themselves with a weapon or strangle themselves to death if no weapons are around.

Notes:

  • Their normal attacks completely pass through materials such as rock, crystal, or metal, rendering all traditional types of armor useless against their attacks.
