Introduction[]
In Garry's Mod, there are two building models available in the Builders category, the "tower" and the "Evil Company Building" (Garry's Mod Lore?!?1?).
The Player is capable of moving these buildings with his physics gun and they absolutely kill the player with a hard enough hit.
Calculation[]
First, let's get the size of the buildings, so we can get the volume and then weight.
Size[]
Flatgrass Structure: 91px = 12.18m
Tower Diameter: 77px = 10.3m
Tower Height: 288px = 38.55m
Building Window Width: 209px = 28m
Window Width: 220px = 28m
Building Width: 239px = 30.42m
Building Height: 831px = 105.76m
Now we can get the volume, which we can use to get the weight.
Weight[]
I'm gonna use this calculator for all the volumes.
For the Tower, with a radius of 5.15m (10.3m/2) and height of 38.55m, we get 3212m^3 for the solid steel base of the Tower.
For the Building, we get 97868m^3 for the unhollowed building, excluding everything on the roof. Of course, the building should be hollow, even if we can't access it's supposed inside. Average Building hollowness is 80% (0.2x) and with that, we get 19573.6m^3
With this, we can get the weights of these structures!
The Tower appears to be made of steel, which has a density of 7750 to 8050 kg/m^3, averaging 7900 kg/m^3
Tower Weight: 3212m^3 * 7900kg = 25374800kg or 25374.8 Metric Tons (Class M)
The Building should be made of Concrete, which has a density of 2400 kg/m^3
Building Weight: 19573.6m^3 * 2400kg = 46976640kg or 46976.64 Metric Tons (Class M)
Of course these are very simplified weights and the physics gun is likely capable of lifting MUCH more.
Potential Energy[]
Potential Energy is for weapons, monsters or items capable of spawning these structures, to be used creation feats. Calcs involving PE should use the centre of gravity (Object Height/2) for more accurate results.
Tower: 4796425356 Joules or 1.146 Tons of TNT (Building+)
Building: 24360941717 Joules or 5.82 Tons of TNT (Large Building)
That is scarily close to SkyBox level of feats.
Kinetic Energy[]
Kinetic Energy is for those capable of moving these buildings (like the physics gun). This doesn't mean they are capable of tanking this much (Inverse Square Law has a big effect on this), just they are capable of outputting this much with just moving.
I am going to assume the minimum speed the physics gun can push these objects at, which is 2.023534 m/s
Tower: 51950968 Joules or 0.01242 Tons of TNT (Small Building)
Building: 96177385 Joules or 0.023 Tons of TNT (Small Building)
Well that's a bit underwhelming, but that's to be expected. The Player cannot tank much faster thrown structures and this is just an underestimate of how much they are capable of.
Tanking[]
The Player can tank thrown buildings when they are moving at minimum speed, so how much are they tanking?
Well, Inverse Square Law impacts this greatly, which can be shown with this VERY simplified formula: P/OA*CA, where P is the yield of an object, OA is the crosssectional area of the object and CA is the crosssectional area of the target (mostly humans).
We have P from the KE calcs from above, so we just need the area of the object thrown and the humans. Humans are simple, they are 0.68m^2.
Tower is 10.3m in diameter and 38.55m in height, giving us roughly 397m^2 for the towers area. The Building is 30.42m wide and 105.76m tall, giving us roughly 3217m^2 for it's area.
Tower Tanking: 51950968J/397m^2*0.68m^2 = 88984 Joules or roughly 89 Kilojoules (Wall)
Building Tanking: 96177385J/3217m^2*0.68m^2 = 20329 Joules or 20.33 Kilojoules (Wall)
Suprisingly consistent with the Player tanking horses and destroying tables.
SkyBox[]
The Structures can also be placed in the SkyBox! Where everything is increased by 16x!!! (Including Feats!)
With this, the Tower is now 616.8m tall and weighs...
Tower Weight: 25374800kg*(16x^3) = 103935180800kg or roughly 103000000 Metric Tons (1.03e8, Class G)
And then, the Building is 1692.16m tall and weighs...
Building Weight: 46976640kg*(16x^3) = 192416317440kg or roughly 192000000 Metric Tons (1.92e8, Class G)
Insane weights
Skytential Energy[]
Same as before, just bigger!
Tower PE: 314338532140351 Joules or 75.13 Kilotons (Town+)
Building PE: 1596518676350192 Joules or 381.6 Kilotons (Large Town)
Pretty close to Admin Tier
Skynetic Energy and Tanking[]
Just like before, but bigger! The slowest speed is now 32.376 m/s, which is MUCH faster than 2 m/s
Tower KE: 54472707635046 Joules or 13 Kilotons (Town)
Building KE: 100845909185365 Joules or 24.1 Kilotons (Town)
And let's find how much energy goes into the Player for tanking! I'll just use the normal-scale area, because the Player would still be hit in the same amount of area, just... bigger.
Tower Tanking: 13 Kilotons/397*0.68 = 0.0222 Kilotons or 22.2 Tons of TNT (City Block)
Building Tanking: 24.1 Kilotons/3217*0.68 = 0.005 Kilotons or 5 Tons of TNT (Large Building)
Pretty Consistent and City Block is... suprisingly believable. There are pretty much almost no outliers in here!
Golden Build[]
The Player is capable of changing the Building to be more similar to Gold, which has a density of 19.3g/cc or 19300 kg/m^3
Gold Building Weight: 19573.6m^3 * 19300kg = 377770480kg or 380000 Metric Tons (3.8e5, Class M)
And the Player is capable of swinging this with his physics gun like any other object, with no problem!
The Player, at minimum, would be generating 774 Megajoules or 0.185 Tons of TNT (Small Building+), just by moving it at the slowest speed possible.
This also means that the Player can tank...
Gold Tanking: 773426475/3217*0.68 = 163484 Joules or 163.5 Kilojoules (Wall)
Forever Wall level...
Skynetic Gold[]
SO what if the golden building was 1636m tall? Well it would weigh a lot more!
SkyGold Weight: 377770480kg*(16x^3) = 1547347886080kg or 1540000000 Metric Tons (1.54e9, Class T)
Again, the Player has no problem moving it at above speeds of 32.376 m/s, generating energies above 810969186 Megajoules or 193826 Tons of TNT (Large Town) pretty casually.
Due to the massive size difference, this still means that the Player is hit with a lot less energy, which is...
SkyGold Tanking: 810969186365646J/3217*0.68 = 171420281855 Joules or 41 Tons of TNT (City Block)
Yeah, this places the skybox Player definitively in 8-B and upgrades them to Class T. Pretty impressed.
