“ | I got your message. Bet you feel REAL proud of yourself, don't you? You just pop in behind my back, LECTURING me when I've been here longer than you EVER were... I'm not stupid. I KNOW I messed up. But you're in no position to talk. You never touched determination. You were never here expect to tell me how much I was screwing up. You're a coward. You ran away from your problems. You gave up your title as scientist. You ran to the Royal Guard and tried to act like you were never here in the first place. But I'm not like you. I'll NEVER stop trying, and I'll NEVER stop caring. As long as I have my promise... I'll keep living. | „ |

~ Undyne, Interlude 2 |
Summary[]
Undyne is the royal scientist and secondary antagonist of Inverted Fate. She resides in Hotland and effectively rules the Underground in Toriel's absence. While not exactly evil, she is very extreme and her acts are questionable.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Undyne is a tall fish-like monster with messy red hair pulled into a ponytail. She has one yellow eye and another robotic eye, red and blue fins on the sides of her head, and a pair of sharp, white, protruding teeth. She always wears black gloves and long sleeves. She hasn’t been seen sleeveless in many years. Or gloveless, for that matter.
The Determinator is a humongous mecha that is shaped to look like Undyne. Below its arms are two containers filled with Determination and a large SAVE point symbol on its chest. The mecha has two cannons on its shoulders that shoot shark-shaped missiles. It also has wings that glow just like a save point would. When pushed to its limits, its battle sprite turns red and its wings begin to flicker and glitch.
Personality[]
“ | STUBBORN. RECKLESS. CAN'T SEE THE FLAMES UNTIL THE WHOLE HOUSE BURNS | „ |
~ Mettaton about Undyne |
Undyne is an aggressive, loud, passionate person, filled with energy and plans. She always gives it her all in anything she does, stubbornly refusing to give up no matter what comes her way. She harbours a deep love for monsterkind and is determined to do everything in her power to make them see the Sun again and is even willing to be the "villain" everyone hates so long as everyone can be free, stating better her than Toriel or anyone else.
She's always acting confident and bombastic, making cheesy anime speeches, and inventing wacky weapons and deadly robots purely for the fun factor. Undyne plays the part of a mad genius, using science to live out her anime-driven fantasies and make monsters’ dreams come true. She also remains physically fit, believing that a genius doesn't mean she has to be "a TOTAL nerd!" She can work her body AND her mind!
But there's more to Undyne than passion and strength. Undyne cares deeply for the people close to her, especially Papyrus, who she considers to be a longtime friend for whom she harbors a very strong protective streak. She's so protective that she believed that Frisk brainwashed Papyrus into helping them, ignoring anything that could disprove it otherwise and is so adamant that Papyrus is "innocent" that she turns on her own witness Dohj when her iron-clad testimony convicting Frisk also indites Papyrus for treason.
And like in the original timeline, she has a huge crush on Alphys, even if Undyne's aggressive anti-human tendencies have torn a rift between the two. Despite this, Undyne refuses to begrudge her, even after she let Frisk go, instead blaming herself for not taking matters into her own hands from the start.
Undyne's views on humanity are a strong driving force, albeit an unhealthy one. She fully believes that humanity is evil, given the war and imprisonment, the Waterfall incident, and Chara, as she explains to Frisk upon first meeting her in person. However, many monsters have questioned if her heart's really in it. If she really, truly wants to kill the human Papyrus has come to adore.
But she insists that everything is fine.
“ | "... Everything is fine. Everything is FINE." A lie. A stupid, bald-faced, utterly transparent lie... but it was all she could say to avoid buckling under the weight of all that had transpired. | „ |
Besides, if she won't take the last human SOUL, someone will have to. And Toriel went through enough hell already.
“ | Her promise. Her failure. Her crimes and her mistakes... They'd fuel her. Keep the fire burning inside. Keep the life flowing through her when, by all accounts, she stood inches from death's door.
At the end of the day, this all started with her... and that was how it would end. |

Powers and Stats[]
Tier: 8-C, possibly 8-B | 7-C, possibly High 7-C
Key: Undyne | The Determinator
Name: Undyne, StrongFish91 (Undernet username)
Origin: Inverted Fate
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Classification: Monster, Royal Scientist, De-facto Ruler of the Underground, Otaku, Creator of Mettaton, Accidental creator the Amalgamates, Alphys's significant other
Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Genius Intelligence
- Danmaku
- Magic
- Underwater Breathing (Type 2; Sleeps in a "glorified bathtub"[1])
- Inorganic Physiology (Every monster in the game is stated to be made of magic)
- Non-Physical Interaction (Magic is shown to be capable of harming ghosts, as shown in the Mad Dummy fight where magic attacks are the only way to harm her as opposed to physical attacks)
- Longevity (Ordinary monsters live longer than humans, but age normally until they reach their adult years)
- Supernatural Willpower (Can generate Determination)
- Limited Acausality (Type 1; Capable of keeping memories of reset events, although other factors such as her increase in strength or damage she sustained will be lost. With her "control over the timeline"/Time Manipulation matched, repeated deaths make her grip in the timeline slip away, which can eventually result in her forgetting everything experienced little by little)
- Time Manipulation (Has the ability to SAVE into a point in time when particularly determined, and LOAD back in time to the last SAVE she made at will, even after dying.[2] She never did a RESET, aiming to do it only for the good of monsters, not her own)
- Limited Paralysis Inducement (Via Green mode)
- Temperature Manipulation (Keeps tech on her person that moisturizes and cools the air around her)
- Energy Manipulation and Weapon Creation (Can create multiple spears to use in combat)
- SOUL Manipulation and Absorption (Can injure the SOUL through damaging the body with their regular attacks. If a monster defeats a human, they can take its SOUL[3])
Resistance to
- Heat Manipulation (Can survive in Hotland, which can reach temperatures high enough to vaporize a styrofoam cup and water instantly)
- SOUL Manipulation (Can take SOUL attacks as physical ones)
- Radiation Manipulation (Gamerblood Energy Drink, an energy drink containing radioactive waste, is considered a normal product in the Underground)
All previous abilities minus her "control over the timeline"/Time Manipulation, plus:
- Immortality (2; She stood inches from death's door but her DETERMINATION kept her alive)
- Cyborgization (At least Normal; her experiments took a physical toll on her, forcing her to bandage up the results and utilize "tubes and wires" as makeshift veins/blood vessels[4] as well as cybernetic enhancements to replace melted body parts of hers,[5] helping keep her stable)
- Energy Projection and Enhanced Senses (Undyne's robotic eye grants her enchanced vision and can shoot lasers[6])
- Statistics Amplification (Capable of injecting even more Determination into herself,[7] further increasing her power)
Same as before, plus
- Large Size (Type 0; it is 33.2 feet or 10.13 meters tall)
- Inorganic Physiology & Natural Weaponry (Is a robotic mech with built in weaponry)
- Flight (Has angel-like wings that it can use to fly)
- Empowerment (Is empowered by the two DT containers fueling it)
- Elemental Manipulation (The Determinator can attack with several fire, ice, and electric based attacks)
- Energy Projection (Can shoot a huge energy blast from its mouth)
- Explosion Manipulation (Has two cannons on its shoulders that shoot shark-shaped missiles)
- Poison Manipulation (The Determinator can poison enemies with its purple arrows. Has been shown to even affect Robots)
- Shockwave Generation (Can generate orange and blue shockwaves with its attacks)
- Enhanced Time Manipulation (The Determinator could SAVE at any point in time, without needing a SAVE point while only using a quarter of its DETERMINATION. Each time it killed Frisk, their grasp on the SAVE file was slowly receded, while Undyne was coming closer and closer to gaining it)
Attack Potency: Building level (Suplexed a boulder hard enough into her laboratory's wall to leave an "over-sized dent"[8]), possibly City Block level (Typically as powerful as her previous timeline's counterpart,[9][10] who defeated Flowey numerous times, with him being forced to rely on his wits rather than brute strength to beat her[note 1]), can bypass conventional durability via SOUL Magic | Town level, possibly Large Town level (Is extremely powerful by virtue of the sheer amounts of Determination fueling it. Comparable, though inferior to a monster that posesses the power of a human soul which has the combined power of every monster in the underground[11]), can bypass conventional durability via SOUL Magic
Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Able to keep up with Frisk) | At least Massively Hypersonic+ (Should be much faster than any monster living in the underground)
Lifting Strength: Class 25 (Capable of suplexing huge boulders.[1] Probably isn't any inferior to Papyrus)
Striking Strength: Building level, possibly City Block level (While she acts as head scientist, she remains physically fit, even keeping a stress boulder lodged in a wall for spontaneous suplexes[1]) | Town level, possibly Large Town level
Durability: Building level, possibly City Block level (Has 20 as defense value,[6] making it the same as Papyrus) | Town level, possibly Large Town level
Stamina: Peak Human
Range: At least Tens of meters with her Spears
Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius. Gained her position as Royal Scientist after singlehandedly building a holographic sky over Snowdin Town.[12] Toriel was so impressed by this symbolic gesture that she immediately appointed Undyne to the position. Over the next few years, Undyne would pour her heart and SOUL into improving the lives of monsters. She gave Monster Kid a cloaking telekinetic helmet to compensate for their lack of arms, built So Sorry's tablet which can bring drawings into existence, and created Mettaton's robotic bodies. Successfully rose the dead with Determination. Built multiple advanced robots. Became the underground's de-facto leader after Toriel secluded herself inside the Castle. Undyne is a quite physically formidable combatant on her own when the situation demands it.
Standard Equipment: Spears, Arrows
Optional Equipment: |
---|
|
Weaknesses: If she's not determined to kill her foe, and is facing against a foe with a strong soul and has murderous intent, her defenses will weaken
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Soul Manipulation: Green Mode: Undyne turns her opponent's soul green, freezing them in place and preventing them from moving from their current location. However, due to her chivalrous nature, Undyne refuses to use this as a way to end fights, giving her opponent a shield and allowing them to use it to block attacks while stuck in place.
- Arrows: Undyne fires multiple arrows at her opponent from all sides, forcing them to block while stuck in place. The arrows move at varying speeds and come in six colors: red, blue, yellow, orange, purple and pink. While red and blue arrows function relatively the same, yellow arrows will always curve at the last second, attempting to strike the opponent from behind. Orange arrows act in a similar manner, they however only curve to the side after being blocked once and disappear after three blocks. Purple arrows circle around the target before striking them and dealing poison damage if used The Determinator. Used exclusively by The Determinator, pink arrows come back after being blocked and need to be blocked once again to vanish. They can prove problematic when multiple arrows of different colors begin coming from different sides, at once. Undyne will sometimes follow a barrage of arrows by suddenly returning her opponent's soul to normal, flinging a spear at them and giving them just enough time to move should they be skilled enough.
- Spears: Undyne will usually utilize one of two spear techniques. The first involves magically flinging spears in a straight path from all directions at her opponent. The second involved drastically reducing their area of movement, forcing them to dodge spears that burst upwards from the ground.
- Spear Ring: Undyne will also form rings of spears around her opponent. These will either manifest as large rings of spears with little space between them that will quickly close in on her opponent, or wider circles that will almost instantly fire straight inwards towards the foe.
- DETERMINATION: The source of her power and abilities. The user is empowered by the feeling of determination, allowing it to strengthen their capabilities and use certain new powers. Using her own DETERMINATION and the bonus from the Determinator, Undyne planned to have her DETERMINATION overpower Frisk's, so she could kill them for good.
- SAVE: When particularly determined, the user can "SAVE" the current moment in time, filling a file inside the game with information about their current process, LV, etc. Someone else with the same use of DETERMINATION and higher determination will result in this ability to SAVE being disabled from Frisk.
- LOAD: Turns back time to the last SAVE made. This can even be used after dying, which usually results in having one's SOUL shattering into pieces. Another user of DETERMINATION, Flowey, could LOAD after dying despite lacking a SOUL altogether. Someone with the same use of DETERMINATION and higher determination will result in this ability to LOAD being disabled from Frisk.
- Reset: Undyne has the ability to RESET the timeline, bringing it all back to the original point she gained control of it. However, she never actually did a RESET, aiming to do it only for the good of monsters, not her own.
- Mouth Laser: The Determinator can charge up and fire a huge energy beam from its mouth, hurting anyone who stays in its way.
- Shark Missiles: The Determinator has two cannons on its shoulders that shoot shark-shaped missiles that lock-on the target's current's location. Will often be used in numbers.

- ↑ Asks: Kinda random question, but while we're on about Photoshop Flowey vs Sans, do you think a Flowey vs Undyne could've happened before Frisk fell? I mean, he does imply he's done genocide, saying that he "killed them all". And do you think Flowey pushed Undyne to go Undying? If so, why would you think Flowey doesn't mention about her? (Not asking how the fight goes; Undyne probably'd just wreck Flowey as a flower due to her being the only one strong (stat-wise) enough to put a fight with you)
