“ | The beast stood alone against the armies of devils and demons, his armor releasing the screams of the damned as it feasted on their being, and the man underneath silent to the despair he spread. | „ |

Summary[]
As a Hellrider[]
Not much is known about Maxwell before joining the Hell Riders, but he implies a traumatic event that ended the lives of his family is the reason he became a cleric. He was as a cleric of Tyr in a sea of holy warriors recruited by Zariel in order to fight in the Blood War. However, as the war dragged on and the number of bodies stacked up of his fellow comrades he stood along side Zariel, Lulu, Olanthius, Haruman, and Yael as the last standing forces of the army. As Zariel lost her hand and called for Yael and Lulu to hide her blade, Maxwell prayed with all his might for Tyr to intervene and help them. In that instance he became an avatar of Tyr and single handedly bought enough time for Lulu and Yael to flee from the battle. But as his gifted power began to fade, Zariel's two remaining generals used the last of their power to send him back to the material plane in hopes of getting reinforcements.
Becoming the Abysswalker[]
Upon his return and request for more of his fellow brothers to enter Avernus, he was deemed a heretic and striped of his powers and rank, he was then exiled from the temple of Tyr. The man spent years of his life festering in anger and a thirst for revenge for his fallen allies. A decade later when he finally found a way back into Avernus... that day was named "The Blood Crusade" as Devil and Demons alike tasted the righteous holy rage of the Heretic's blade. During his Blood Crusade he was blessed by Viryn, a spectating Solar of Tyr, as he saw his cause was just.
But as the creatures of the Abyss seemed to be pushed back... a demon, the likes of which had never been known or seen, rose from the endless pit and threatened to shatter the Nine Hells... only for The Heretical Prophet to slay the beast with only his holy Crucible and righteous fury. It was then, when he stroked fear the heart of all fiends... his power even unnerving the demon lords of the highest power. On that day they named him... The Abysswalker.
In the nearly Millennia and a half of his crusade, The Abysswalker was given help by the most unlikely of places and creatures. One of these being Mad Maggie, a powerful Night Hag, who single handily created his all-consuming armor, another was Samuel Colt, a man hellbent on revenge; who made his enchanted double barrel blunderbuss named Baator's Bane, and by defeating Bel he forced him to create a devastating weapon that uses souls for ammunition. As his rampage began the threaten the Devils, the fiends decided that he had to be stopped. The fiends knew that it would be impossible to destroy the monster, so they did the only alternative.
A plan was enacted in which the most powerful Succubus that the devils captured would disguised herself as Zariel, before her fall, to distract him. They were able to neutralize The Son and entombed him in the farthest reaches of Avernus... in hopes to keep The Prophet silent until the end of time.
20 years later and with the guidance of Viryn, a group of heroes freed the Abysswalker from his tomb and redeemed Zariel. However, while attempting to escape Avernus, Yeenoghu threatened to use it as a path to the materiel realm to continue his rampage, however by throwing both himself and the demon lord into the Abyss he allows Zariel and the heroes to save Elturel.
Demigod of Rebellion[]
Upon entering Yeenoghu's realm of The Abyss, a mighty battle sparked with the Demon Lord leading his army against the man. The bloody battle lasted an uncounted amount of time, but ended with the death and usurping of Yeenoghu. Maxwell became the New Lord of Slaughter and freed the Gnolls from the evil tendencies instilled by their former lord. Maxwell did the same to the Frost Giants upon killing Kostchtchie. His battle against Baphomet was the most time consuming as he fought against the forces of the Minotaur Lord and Pale Night.
The death of Baphomet was met with retaliation by Pale Night, however she stopped these attempts in favor of talking with the man. In one of the very rare instances of communication, Pale Night revealed how the man reminded her of another foolish deity from her reality that attempted to tame The Abyss. In a show of good will, the Abyssal Lord gifted Maxwell the First Blade and sharing the prophecy that Demogorgon was destined to end all of creation, for what reason she did this is unknown but it is suspected to benefit the figure in some way.
The last battle The Abysswalker waged in The Abyss was against Demogorgon himself, using everything he had, the man nearly died in the battle but with the use of The First Blade, managed to deal a killing blow on the Demon Lord and erasing his destiny from ever coming true. With this act of defiance Lord Ao named the man the Demigod of Rebellion for he fought and overcame fate on that day.
