Stygius is a Batpony directly descended from Luna through the result of extreme incest. He is heir to the throne of the rapidly dwindling Batpony Kingdom and on his birth was bet roved to his own sister, in order to preserve the royal bloodline. Seeking to escape such a fate, he escapes Lunas pocket dimension, that had housed the batponies, in order to seek out love in the world beyond his kingdom.
Shortly after his escape he begins to spy on a lone Blackjack, and begins to fall in love with the unicorn mare for her exotic features. After making himself and his feelings known to Blackjack he is shortly discovered by his sister who relents at the idea of marrying her brother and lets Stygius tag along with Blackjack for a while.
Though it was difficult to keep up his macho façade he eventually found a more true love in another mare, Psychoshy, herself dealing with her own image and lineage issues. Psychoshy, infatuated by Stygius's physique and personalty joins him in returning to Luna's Pocket Dimension.
6 Months later when Blackjack mysteriously arrives in the dimension, its revealed that King Hades was troubled by Stygius bringing the pony Psychoshy, informally now known as Whisper back with him. The King was heavily at odds with her and Stygius about the Batponies dangerous incestual practices. The King foolishly reasoned that they should not get involved with the outside world, and that his people would survive. Despite his fathers wishes, and seeing the dire state of his people, Stygius, assisted Whisper in setting up a breeding program that would bring in ponies from the outside world, as part of a last ditch effort to save the batponies. Though his father allowed this it was clear that a change of his perspective would be vital in saving the Batponies.
Ultimately, after being humbled by Blackjack, Stygius's father comes approves of his sons request for the Batpony Kingdom to venture into the outside world and its affairs. Thus also allowing and approving of Stygius's love for Whisper.
While protecting Whisper during a key a battle for Hoofington, Stygius proposes to Whisper and is married on the battlefields after the reveal that Whisper is pregnant. Shortly afterwards, he is mortally wounded by a nearby sniper after throwing himself in the path of the bullet meant for Whisper.
Its later revealed in Epilogue, that Whisper gave birth to Stygius's son Noctilucent, who would become the new heir to Batpony Kingdom.
Appearance[]
Stygius is a Batpony Stallion, a pony with pronounced bat-like features, such as wings, fangs, eyes as well as a more darkened mane. He is described to have an above average but not overly muscular frame, one fit for a movement based athlete. Unlike the rest of his family Stygius displays no noticeably physical deformities caused by his families inbreeding policies
Personality[]
Stygius is a socially awkward goofball, with a heart of gold. He's unreasonably loyal to those who he considers close to him, and whomever he cares deeply for. This is supplanted often by his more goofy tone and reasonings he displays in private. He will be serious when the situation calls but behind the scenes has no qualms about taking a more laid back, anti authority attitude, and in the end will do what he must to protect his friends, family, and loved ones.
