Richard Hawks

Created by https://twitter.com/Starbind_S

Bastard... I am the Hawk. I'm the one that you animals have clipped the wings of! All I needed were a few allies... A few of them, and that Supermassive would have been dead in the water. But they all managed to fuck it up in rapid succession, to destroy their arms or their legs or whatever else... I stood alone, and now you have the audacity to call me a FAKE!? TO CALL ME A FAILURE!!? YOU'RE THE GENERATION THAT THOUGHT THEY WERE HOT SHIT ENOUGH TO JOIN ME, AND THAT'S WHAT'S MADE THE THING THAT STANDS IN FRONT OF YOU!
~ Hawk's declaration of post-mortum spite

Richard Hawks in life
Sacrifices are for the older generation, kid.
~ Hawk's redemption

Summary[]

One of the greatest Drivers to ever be born, Richard Hawks served as an idol to many around the world, including John Killian Johnson. His combat proficiency was unparalleled, defending humanity from the Phantasms until an unfortunate instance of timing with a Supermassive attack, in which all but the Vermillion Striker were out of commission as it approached. All the same, Hawks lead the assault, using allied ordinance and his own sheer proficiency until he managed to strike it down, only to be killed alongside it.

Resentful of his situation and the younger Drivers that destroyed their own equipment, he was corrupted by the Piece of Death, used as an asset to filling his Death Domain until eventually being manifested to defend the core of the Endbringer from the Men Against the End. He fought fiercely, expressing rage in a misguided direction until his former body ruptured and he felt one last moment of regret, that sentiment propagating through the ethereal and culminating in Hyper Synchronicity. Through chain reaction that empowered the Men Against the End, as well as eventually saving them from the implosion of the Death Domain, he had found a way to redeem himself at the last moment.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: 9-C, 8-A via the Power of the Soul | 8-A, Low 7-C with the Elbow of Amendment | 8-A, Low 7-C with Dark Fist of Tyranny | Unknown, 8-A via the Power of the Soul

Key: By himself | Vermillion Striker | Crimson Striker | Facilitator of Hyper Synchronicity

Name: Richard Hawks | Vermillion Striker | Crimson Striker

Origin: ALSAN

Gender: Male

Age: 45 at time of death, 55 after being revived

Classification: Driver | ALSAN unit | Corrupted ALSAN | Ambient Soul

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Drivers are both trained in hand to hand combat and inherently stronger than a normal person by default[1], to a superhuman extent[2]), Martial Arts, Weapon Mastery and Vehicular Mastery (ALSAN Drivers are all trained to extreme levels of overall combat prowess[3]), Energy Manipulation (The only ones who can pilot an ALSAN are the rare few capable of drawing out their souls' power into an Animachina core[3]), Energy Projection and Non-Physical Interaction (Drivers can focus their spiritual energy into energy attacks[2] that are capable of destroying Phantasms' cores, which are composed of human souls[1]), limited Technology Manipulation (Thanks to their powers, Drivers are capable of interfacing with ALSANs directly, piloting them as if they were an extension of their own body[3]), Statistics Amplification (Drivers can increase their own strength to achieve superhuman feats[3]), Regeneration (High-Low. Drivers heal much faster than humans, and even faster in combat[3], as shown by Johnson healing from significant internal damage[4]), minor Extrasensory Perception (Drivers are capable[5] of sensing nearby Phantasms[6]), Supernatural Willpower (A Driver's capacity to use spiritual energy is tied to the strength of their emotions. Was capable of forcibly keeping themselves conscious despite the imminent rupture of their soul, delivering a lucid set of last words before finally succumbing), Aura and Resistance to Life Manipulation (Drivers are surrounded by a Life-Barrier that allows them to exist in the presence of Crimson Phantasms, surviving their ability to absorb the life force of those nearby[3]), Fear Manipulation and Madness Manipulation (Karl, John and Joshua were unaffected by the Endbringer's aura, which drove much of Albany into hysteric rioting[4] and causes Ego Death over time[7]), Soul Manipulation (In the JoAT multiverse, the mind and the soul are one and the same. Drivers are immune to having their souls taken over by the Piece of Death until they die[1])

Large Size (Type 1, 34 meters tall), Flight (All ALSANs are capable of flight thanks to jet thrusters[3]), Non-Physical Interaction (Thanks to their users' soul power ALSANs are capable of destroying Phantasms' cores, which are composed of human souls[1]), Bodily Weaponry, Thread Manipulation and Damage Boost (ALSANs are outfitted with a great variety of weapons, customized to the Driver's requests - Vermillion Striker's Spears of Justice are a duo of two grappling hook javelins shot from its wrists, tied to it with an extremely strong wire. Additionally, its Fist of Justice fists and legs are designed to shoot out when punching for added damage[8]), Explosion Manipulation, Homing Attack and Danmaku (ALSANs are equipped with dozens to hundreds of homing micro-missiles intended to disrupt or intercept attacks[3]), Enhanced Senses (ALSANs are capable of zooming their vision in[9], and are equipped with infrared[1]), Regeneration (High-Low, Animachina Core only: An ALSAN's Animachina is capable of restoring itself in the same way its Drivers can[3]), Physics Manipulation (An ALSAN passively warps physics around it, moving at mach speeds without a sonic boom[9], protecting Drivers from most impacts the mech suffers[1] and allowing them to fly in space[10]), Information Analysis (An ALSAN's mission command is capable of remotely scanning Phantasm regeneration and intuiting its Core position[9]. ALSANs themselves are capable of analyzing the damage they have suffered all the way down to the atomic level[1]), Air Manipulation (ALSANs are air-tight and produce their own oxygen[7]), Vibration Manipulation (Vermillion Striker's clash with Crimson Striker released shockwaves powerful enough to destroy the flesh tunnel around them and injure Johnson within the mech[4]), Resistance to Macro-Quantum Manipulation and Physics Manipulation (ALSANs can resist[1] Crimson Phantasms' weak force attacks[11], which normally disintegrate what they hit), Radiation Manipulation (ALSANs are protected against radiation, allowing them to operate in areas recovering from nuclear strikes or in space[1])

Same as before, in addition to [ "dead, but not rotting"] flesh, animated by an amalgamation of souls[1]), Regeneration (Mid, capable of easily regenerating from the removal of their limbs,[9] destruction of their head,[11] and virtually any other form of harm provided their core remains stable), Shapeshifting (Phantasms are capable of altering their body to various degrees,[3] stretching and repurposing their limbs or even growing new attributes as needed[9]), Extrasensory Perception (Capable of intuitively detecting the greatest source of life in their proximity, and can use this to detect the general direction of strong opponents such as Drivers without any other sense[3]), Life Absorption (Phantasms passively drain the life of anything within their vicinity, causing rapid decay if an individual is too close. Even the likes of ALSAN Drivers are incapable of surviving when directly grasped by a Phantasm[3]), Self-Destruction (When a Phantasm's core is destroyed, they release an explosion of Thermal and Life energy,[3] though Crimson Striker isn't strong enough for this to cause significant damage), Resistance to Pain Manipulation (Phantasms are incapable of feeling genuine pain, though Hawks is noted to take a psychological effect from damage he receives)

His abilities by himself, along with Incorporeality (Is an ambient soul in the Ethereal Plane, only manifested as a consciousness due to being the one to jumpstart the phenomenon[12]), Telepathy (Souls communicate through directly transmitting their ideas as ethereal signals[12]), Pocket Reality Manipulation (Was capable of opening holes in the Death Domain by redirecting the Ethereal Matter forming it, allowing the Men Against the End to leave prior to it's total collapse[12])

Attack Potency: Street level (Drivers are both trained in hand to hand combat and inherently stronger than a normal person by default[1], to a superhuman extent[2]), Multi City Block level+ via The Power of the Soul (Capable of fueling their ALSAN, as well as being directly used for attacks sufficient to damage Crimson Phantasms) | Multi City Block level+ (Regarded as one of the best Drivers of his era,[1] more than making up for the lack of upgrades John Killian Johnson eventually commissioned for the machine), Small Town level with the Elbow of Amendment (Was capable of killing a Supermassive through a strike to it's core[1]) | Multi City Block level+ (Directly clashed with the modern Vermillion Striker, matching it's blows and nearly killing Johnson with a headbutt[5]), Small Town level with Dark Fist of Tyranny (Matched the Burning Fist of Justice[5]) | Unknown (Noted as being entirely unamplified by the Hyper Synchronicity event, as his reformation was not for the purpose of direct combat[12]), Multi City Block level+ via The Power of the Soul

Speed: Superhuman (Comparable to Joshua T. Connor, who could run at speeds of 22 m/s[2]), Hypersonic+ via The Power of the Soul (Can fire attacks at a speed comparable to ALSANs) | Hypersonic (Even as an out of date model, could still easily move at 1.8 kilometers per second), Hypersonic+ with the Spears of Justice (Attack much faster than the ALSAN itself, and it's reeling function can be used in tandem with thrusters to send it at a speed exceeding 4.3 kilometers per second) and missiles | Hypersonic, Hypersonic+ with the Spears of Oppression | Unknown, Hypersonic+ via The Power of the Soul

Lifting Strength: Superhuman | Class M (While an older version, should still be comparable to John Killian Johnson's use of it) | Class M | Unknown

Striking Strength: Street level, Small Town level+ via The Power of the Soul | Small Town level+ | Small Town level+ | Unknown, Small Town level+ via The Power of the Soul

Durability: Street level, Small Town level+ via The Power of the Soul (Can project a wave of force around his body, shielding him from attacks) | Small Town level+ | Small Town level+ | Unknown, Small Town level+ via The Power of the Soul

Stamina: Superhuman (Drivers are capable of regenerating through grievous wounds and pushing themselves past human limits thanks to their spiritual energy) | Same as before | Infinite (Crimson Phantasms cannot fatigue or lose function to anything short of their core's destruction) | Superhuman (Unaffected by having a majority of their form crushed, as they lack any organs needed to continue persisting)

Range: Standard Melee Range, Hundreds of Meters via the Power of the Soul | Tens of Meters, Hundreds of Meters with the Spears of Liberty, Kilometers with missiles (While out of date compared to 2086 ALSAN technology, should still be superior to real world ordinance) | Tens of Meters, Hundreds of Meters with the Spears of Oppression, Kilometers with projectile formations | Hundreds of Meters via the Power of the Soul

Standard Equipment: Vermillion Striker | An arsenal of 40 missiles contained within the Vermillion Striker's hat, as well as less advanced versions of it's overall arsenal | None Notable | None Notable

Intelligence: Gifted (One of the most skilled Drivers in history, who singlehandedly matched a Supermassive and managed to strike a lethal blow, despite it possessing the ability to cause fatal damage with a single swift attack. Even when delirious from the effects of the Piece of Death's corruption, still possessed sufficient situational wherewithal to neutralize the Ox Gargoyle's laser via a series of well aligned missile projectiles and matched John Killian Johnson in hand to hand)

Standard Tactics: Hawks and his Vermillion Striker are inherently meant for close combat, necessitating that he maneuver towards an opponent quickly and deal out a series of strikes. To this end, he uses the natural Thruster capabilities of an ALSAN alongside the Spears of Liberty, allowing him to reel towards a given point at rapid speed. For defense, he will either block with his enhanced armor, or if need be, entirely evade attacks via use of the Spears of Liberty, as well as use his arsenal of missiles to quickly repel attacks. As a Crimson Phantasm, his focus on defense is minimal in comparison, only aiming to prevent crippling wounds while aggressively targeting whatever he perceives as his priority.

Weaknesses: Direct usage of their own souls' power is very tiring for Drivers, necessitating the use of an ALSAN[3]. | The shockwaves of particularly powerful impacts suffered by the ALSAN will reach their pilot[1]. If the Animachina Core of an ALSAN is destroyed, it will stop functioning and break apart in seconds[3]. | Destroying the core located in the Crimson Striker's hat will immediately kill them. Even without destroying the core, sufficient levels of damage will cause the Piece of Death's power to subside, resulting in the core's rupture regardless. Hawk's judgement is stifled by the Piece of Death's corruption, causing him to fly in a rage to attack Vermillion Striker despite the threat the Ox Gargoyle and Blue Flash posed. | Will fade as soon as the Hyper Synchronicity event is complete.
