I wanted to respond here since clogging that thread and stopping it from running would have been bad , and you misinterpreted my intent by "Oh really". I'll just summarize it as I don't want to waste your time:
I generally am not the same person. I did a lot of soul searching, had a lot of distractions via College, and in general am not the same. I apologize for that horrific backstory as that was the frustration of everything in my life at that moment poured out into a mess of a response which generally the backstory wouldn't have been that bad. I do want to create high tiers, but I'm generally working harder than ever to fix every flaw I've ever had, going back and looking at all the feedback. But the main problem is for some there is no feedback, so I have to go with a 'what would he/she think' rather than 'In-fact I know what he/she wants as he/she said it', I was thinking of sharing a blog with a revisited script of every profile I've ever made.
The "Oh really" was more of a chance to prove I have changed rather than someone trying to step on the same puddle their parents told them not to step in. If you and the mods will just work with me here, I can assure you I can do this. I can make the changes, I can restart again. It may take a few times and some actual direct feedback instead of deleting something with no feedback.
If this ends with just saying 'Don't make anymore. End of story' I'll back off. But, I'm hoping that isn't your answer.
I wrote that story 13 to 12 years ago. I was much younger then, and was also extremely overloaded, depressed, and mentally unwell at the time. I have changed my viewpoints severely since then.
It was also written in a stream-of-consciousness manner without any coherent plan behind it beyond that I was oversensitive and felt personally offended by certain parts of Internet culture and rightwing ideologies and worldviews at the time, so I tried to embody everything that I felt nauseated by into the characters. As for the sex scene, that is just 2% of the story, and I am not overly prudish.
That said, the story did intuitively catch up on a lot of social trends that became prominent first several years afterwards, which is why I am still somewhat hung up on it. I am not sure how exactly that I accomplished that.
So, what exactly prompted you to decide that, despite BOTH PARTIES admitting the page needs to be redone, you just HAVE to keep it added to Jay's profile and then act like big brother auditing over every edit I make to... what, keep a single win for your character?
I did my best to be patient and explain everything missing, but your refusal to listen and then further acting like You have the right to lord over my own page is fucking insulting, Let alone the idea that you're going to keep me from removing a loss on my own character after you tried to make it seem like i was wrong about my OWN verse.
I am genuinely fucking upset about this and how damn rude you were the entire thread.
Okay, now that the thread is over, let me level with you a bit.
In FCOC, unlike VSBW, the creators making the profiles leads to a lot of issues. But, we still go by VSBW rules - that being, only using what's actually on the profile.
However, in FCOC, there's a caveat. The owner of a profile can make whatever they want up, and put it on a profile. This can even be used to tilt a loss into a win - when done deliberately, it is incredibly frowned upon and even against the rules as I know them.
So, first off - don't make matches if you aren't finished. It's not fair. A debate opponent can't read your mind, so you're holding an unfair advantage by having all the details in your head. Yes, it's not generally expected to list 100% of details as such would be quite difficult, but lacking in a tremendous amount of abilities, feats, and resistances is a bit too much. Not to mention, since they only have your word to go off of, they can't debate what you say, since they purely have whatever you have to tell them. This means, even accidentally, you could forget to mention a vital detail of a power & ability's mechanics that could change the outcome of the fight.
Second off - if you do make those matches, don't be mad when people hold you to those rules. It's not fair to get three wins and an inconclusive with this advantage of yours, yet suddenly avoid a loss once the rules are invoked, no? As I said - small details are fine, and if you missed a thing or two, most people will allow you to edit it in. But in this circumstance, there seemed to be an utterly tremendous amount of information missing that heavily impacted the fight.
Overall? If you make the bed, be prepared to sleep in it, Zeph. If you make edits, that's fine, though all the matches should be removed as a result (including the loss, by the way). Additionally, understand that choosing to edit in unlisted/unmentioned feats at the sight of a loss is quite suspicious, even if such weren't your intentions - most people I've talked to universally regard this as incredibly suspect, and it's been quite a problem on FCOC lately. Don't take a little attention into your edits as anything personal - it's simply a cautionary measure.
I'm willing to work with you to further that future matches are done as coherently and fairly as possible.
I'm sorry for getting so hostile, but I've been going through IRL stuff including being locked in the house thanks to COVID and having to completely restructure my school schedule, so I'm already on a short fuse.
Can I put a ban on using my characters in matches until the cosmology page is done?
Moritzva wrote: I understand. Real life can be tough, especially with so much going on in the world right now.
It's completely okay to not have a character be used until you're done. And if you were to finish all the edits you have in mind before you make another match, I'd appreciate it.
Say, as a question, what edits did you have in mind? What are the main things that need to be changed?
Pretty much adding the stuff in the thread that was a point of contention, plus some other bits I never ended up adding like the potency of Deedee's amps and possibly recalcing some of the tier 7 stuff. The former would apply to everyone in the verse, not just jay.
I need to look back through my old chat threads to find all the info as even i get mixed up on bits from time to time (Thanks in part to Jay's main writer liking to retcon details a lot, which for story-specific reasons requires me to make alterations)
And yeah, I won't make another match until all the pages are revised. I apologize if i upset you.
