Mani mani statue sprite hallows end
It's there... It's just up ahead.

That thing is the cause of all this.

It's controlling all the monsters.

Soon enough, it'll control everything in this world.

You know what you must do.

KILL

IT

Kill that accursed thing! Put an end to all of this!

~ Craig's inner monologue as he approaches the demon.

Maras Demon Sprite 1
Hmm… You seem to be much less… moronic than most of my followers. But then again, that’s to be expected. You are humans, after all.

You think you act for good, yet you’ve willingly helped me all this time.

Most of my followers lack the capability to fully understand me. They only hear bits and pieces of messages, and then go off looking for food or something.

I never thought that, in the end, it would be humans that came to my aid.

Your actions have doomed your entire species, and so much more!

At least you shall get the honor of being the first humans to die by my hand.

~ Mara’s Demon to Sally, Craig and Clyde.

Maras Demon Sprite 2
The very idea... that I would be... defeated by humans... is simply... inconceivable!
~ Mara's Demon

Overview[]

Mara's Demon is the central antagonist in H.S.'s Hallow's End, serving as the "normal" final boss.

A demonic spirit residing within a statue, its exact origins are unknown. However, the statue was at one point purchased by a collector known as Old Man Gantt, who lived in the same town as the story's main protagonists: Sally, Craig and Clyde. Gantt had the statue in his possession for an unknown amount of time, until the date of October 31st, 2010. During that Halloween night, the protagonist trio decided to sneak into the old man's house whilst he was asleep (or absent), believing that they could steal candy from him. Instead they stumbled upon the effigy of the demon, who, upon being awoken, dragged them into a strange and hostile realm known as the Illusion World.

Once the Illusion World had been created, the malevolent spirit formed an avatar (known as Mara's Demon) within its own realm, becoming the lord of a town of monsters. With their aid, he sought to use the Sun Sphere to dissolve the barriers between the Human World and the Illusion World, which would allow his avatar to step into Planet Earth and unleash terror upon the human race.

Eventually, the demon's avatar was defeated by Sally, Craig and Clyde, who then broke free from the Illusion World and destroyed the statue. Despite this, the Illusion World remained an extant threat, as the demon's creations were crossing over into other worlds. The strongest of them all (known as The End of Dreams) had to be defeated in order to end the ordeal.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: At least Low 5-B, likely 4-B to Low 2-C

Name: Mara’s Demon

Origin: Hallow's End

Gender: Either Genderless or Male (Never directly stated, but is referred to as “lord”, "sir" and "master" by the Monster Villagers)

Age: Unknown

Classification: Evil Spirit, Demon

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Durability, Avatar Creation (Created its Illusion World avatar), Life Manipulation, Creation and Pocket Reality Manipulation (Created the Illusion World, which contains multiple smaller pocket dimensions, and has its own altered flow of time. Said realms had their own creatures and inhabitants, including most of the story's antagonists. Is indirectly responsible for the birth of the End of Dreams, an eldritch abomination), Time Manipulation (Can create realms where time flows differently: "several weeks" in the Human World was mere moments in one of said realms), Multilocation (Physical. Simultaneously exists in the Human World and the Illusion World), Immortality (At least Type 1), Inorganic Physiology (Type 1. Is a statue inhabited by a spirit), BFR via Teleportation (Of interdimensional range; Can teleport those who approach the statue to the Illusion World, which, despite its name, is a tangibly real structure capable of affecting other worlds. ), Telepathy (Speaks telepathically. Capable of reading the contents of one's conscious), Empathic Manipulation (Caused Craig to feel an unbearable dread), Illusion Creation (Causes the foe to experience actual illusions as they're being teleported to the Illusion World. The protagonist trio did not realize the statue was there despite being right in front of it)

All previous abilities, plus Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Immortality (Types 1, 8 and 9. The Demon's spirit and its Avatar are sustained by the Statue in the Human World. This makes it difficult to kill, as the Statue will immediatedly warp foes to the Illusion World), Void Manipulation (Created the void that holds the Illusion World's dimensional realms. Things/beings can be lost in said void), Reality Warping and Madness Manipulation (Mara's Demon molds the Illusion World to reflect the minds of those inside. The world gets more bizarre and disjointed the longer one stays inside, which is a reflection of the residents' minds becoming more and more deteriorated. It is implied that if the protagonists stayed in the Illusion World any longer, their minds would get irreperably damaged), Durability Negation (Some of its abilities do this), Magic (Its abilities are magical in nature), Non-Physical Interaction (Should be comparable to Sally. Should be capable of damaging the inhabitants of its world, which included spiritual and data-based beings), Data Manipulation and Corruption (The Illusion World featured several glitch-based entities, plus zones & beings that were corrupted by said glitches, such as those found in Corrupted Onett), Existence Erasure (Can indirectly do this through glitches), Soul Manipulation (Claims to be capable of devouring souls. Should be comparable to his Soulless Zombies, who are capable of directly sucking souls out of bodies), Limited Necromancy (Created and controls a village of zombies, although with some difficulty), Natural Weaponry (Horns and teeth), Mind Manipulation (Has access to Brainshock Ω. Capable of attacking directly on the mental level, which deals both psychic and physical damage), Fire Manipulation (Has access to Flare, which allows the user to emit flames in bursts from their hands), Danmaku (Has access to Starstorm, which calls upon a rain of meteorites), Transformation (Transforms twice during the battle), Additional Limbs (Grows extra arms during the fight, having a total of six), Weapon Mastery (Capable of effectively wielding six daggers at once), Weapon Creation (Can create daggers out of thin air), Berserk Mode (Capable of “thrashing around wildly” to deal increased damage), Forcefield Creation, Damage Reduction and Attack Reflection (Shield β reduces received physical damage by half, and returns the other 50% to the attacker), Life Absorption (Can heal by stealing life-force from the enemy), Radiation Manipulation (Can emit large amounts of radiation to completely contaminate an area, causing radiation poisoning in foes), Darkness Manipulation (Type 1), Perception Manipulation and Power Nullification (Able to create a "suffocating darkness", which surrounds a foe and inflicts disorientation on them, rendering them unable to use their powers), Paralysis Inducement and Telekinesis (Can paralyze a foe in place and simultaneously damage them, just by gazing at them), Air Manipulation and Ice Manipulation (Has access to Freeze, which summons a very cold wind to swirl around the enemy and freeze them solid), Electricity Manipulation (Has access to Electroshock), Statistics Reduction (Can drain a foe's Attack and Defense, this attack is described as "Compeletely draining your strength"), Light Manipulation & Death Manipulation (Via Flash, which has a chance to induce instant death regardless of current HP), Sleep Manipulation (Can lull others to sleep with Hypnosis Ω), Magic Absorption (Capable of absorbing the power which allows magic users to perform spells)

Resistance to the following: Soul Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, Disease Manipulation and Corruption (Should be impervious to his own creations' powers, which includes beings such as Aphotic Aberration, soul-sucking Zombies, the Onett glitches, and Jenkins with his virus), Sleep Manipulation (Can resist Craig's hypnosis), Sense Manipulation and Paralysis Inducement (Completely resists Clyde's smoke bombs), Light Manipulation and Death Manipulation (Unaffected by having his own Flash redirected at him by Sally's Energy Shield), Absolute Zero (Should be able to resist Frostilicus' ice powers), Gravity Manipulation, Spatial Manipulation and Time Manipulation, and Reality Warping (Should be comparable to the End of Dreams, which can resist its own destructive powers), and Radiation Manipulation (Unaffected by the area being bathed in toxic radiation)

Attack Potency: At least Small Planet level+ (Is at least as strong as this), likely Solar System level (Created, and sustained the existence of, the Illusion World. Despite its name, the Illusion World was revealed to be physically real and capable of affecting other worlds) to Universe level+ (Comparable to the End of Dreams, who was threatening to destroy everything by distorting reality. This included the Illusion World and all of the dimensionally/rift-separated realms, the Real/Human World, as well as Anna's World. However, it is unknown whether this is a multiversal structure or not)

Speed: Immobile for the Demon Statue. Massively Hypersonic+ for its Avatar (Capable of performing lightning-fast strikes; Can hit those who can react to, and dodge, said strikes)

Lifting Strength: Class Y (Should be comparable to the End of Dreams, which can move this much mass)

Striking Strength: At least Small Planet Class+, likely Solar System Class to Universal+

Durability: At least Small Planet level+ (Should be capable of withstanding attacks from the End of Dreams), likely Solar System level (Casually withstood sustaining its world) to Universe level+ (Took countless attacks from Sally, Craig and Clyde, who could damage the End of Dreams)

Stamina: At least Superhuman (Superior to Sally, Craig and Clyde)

Range: Extended melee range physically. Hundreds of meters with several abilities. At least Interdimensional with Multilocation, Reality Warping and BFR

Standard Equipment: Daggers

Intelligence: Gifted (Is by far the most skilled foe fought by the protagonist trio, excelling in both magic usage and physical armed combat. Should surpass the likes of Frostilicus, whose strategic mind allowed him to wage wars against humanity wherein he had the edge, and Jenkins, who was able to create a virus and use it as a bioweapon to take over a town. However, Mara's Demon's intellect didn't really get to shine, as his underlings were rather foolish and ineffective. He himself was shown to be quite gullible, not realizing that Sally, Craig and Clyde had presented him with a fake Sun Sphere. Despite that, the Illusion World remained a serious threat to multiple worlds, including the Human World and Anna's World)

Weaknesses: Will cease to exist if his Demon Statue is destroyed. The Demon Statue cannot do much by itself: It needs to teleport its foe to the Illusion World in order to fight effectively.
