Summary[]
Locke "Evan" Evangelos is a character in the Eden era of Deus Ex Gyrus. He is the purveyor of Mind, one of the eight Chaos Elements, and thus stands as one of the guardians of the World Tree.
The child of a Human and Remian (An otherworldy being resembling elves), Evan has always possessed an alien quality about him, be it through his prodigal mastery of the magical arts, logical and nearly emotionless mindset, or superhuman intelligence. All of this, however, guaranteed that Evan's life would be a tumultuous one. Born into a noble family, Evan's life has always been preset, his family having arranged a marriage between him and a fellow noblewoman in order to bear a child possessing both families' abilities.
Evan's mindset prevented him from experiencing any sort of attraction for the woman in question, and when he did finally experience love, his heart fell into the grasp of someone who was very forward about never having eyes for him. Even so, the experience taught Evan that, without love, there was no point in marriage, and he has since dedicated his time to honing his magic and protecting the world tree, treating his wife as a friend an ally rather than a forced lover.

- Gungnir: The name of Evan's spear. A magical staff combined with a lethal polearm, Gungnir serves as both a melee weapon and a focus for Evan's magic. He is able to leap hundreds of feat into the air to come down with this spear like a meteor, and though it is not his primary strong suit, he is able to keep up with highly skilled fighters like Cinder and Radahn using melee and magic in tandem. Evan also uses this to enhance his spells with twirls and slams of Gungnir, adding kinetic elements to increase their power.
- Divinity: The sacred relic of Lucirian. Divinity is an artificial intelligence, made of Lucirian and contained within an amorphous mechanical shell, similar to a Droedar. Far more advanced than the human-developed AIs, Divinity is able to maintain the systems of the Star Dragon Olympus, a city-sized starship, on her lonesome, and is able to aid Evan in battle. Under most circumstances, she remains wrapped around Gungnir to augment it and make it indestructible, as with all sacred relics. She is able to project hardlight barriers to protect her wielder, guide Gungnir when thrown to make it never miss, and create hardlight blades to extend its melee range. Furthermore, Divinity acts as the core AI of the Golden Army, a legion of indestructible constructs which are immune to physical and magical attacks. Divinity, and by extension Evan, could once summon this army to their side at will, but they were destroyed before the Seven Sins arc.
- Chains of Binding: Bindings that Evan gave to Reyna. These chains are able to nullify the magic of any they touch, preventing them from breaking the chains. The chains themselves are able to restrain the likes of Envy as well, able to even restrain Wraiths and their conceptual arts.
- Mana Siphon: A small token that Evan carries, which is able to absorb and disperse magical energy. Its rate of absorption is slow, but it is very useful for destabilizing barriers and creating weak points.
- Alchemy Components: A bag of various alchemy components used by Evan to create potions and elixirs.
- Cryogenic Gel: A set of gel vials that Evan carries. These vials contain an alchemical gel that, when exposed to flame, rapidly expands and freezes the air around it to paralyze and encase the target in ice.
- Itching Powder: A vial of itching powder, usable to incapacitate opponents. Evan used this against Cinder to make her enrage even more and give him an opportunity to use his cryogenic gel.
- Mana Potions: Potions containing pure liquid mana, able to fully recharge Evan's internal stores should he run out.
Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius. Evan is one of, if not the greatest sorcerer in the entire World Tree, far eclipsing other sorcerers like Grimnir, who can create Black Holes and bend time and space to his will through magical knowledge. Before even reaching adolescence, Evan was able to master Time Magic to a degree that would take an adult decades of practice to achieve. His precision with magic is so great that he can create perpetual time loops within his body, something that has eliminated most of his external biological needs due to constantly being in a state with satiated hunger and oxygen-filled lungs. Just from playing the video game of Magicka, was able to instantly understand the true system it was based off of in the real Magicka world after it had already been mixed with the system of another world, to the point where he could counter and dispel it mid-casting. Able to undo magical "Three-Factor" seals (Likening them to two-factor Authentication) despite not having the codes for them in a matter of seconds. With some difficulty, could decipher coordinates to the Threshold and access them without undergoing an Apotheosis. As the group's planner and strategist, Evan is also a master tactician. Against fellow academy student, psychic, and a magic prodigy of his own right, Luke Belnades, Evan was able to win 1389 out of 1500 games of Five-Board Chess despite not having access to psionics at the time. Evan can cast teleportation spells with such speed that it rivals Zephyr, someone who has mastered control over space and can teleport into other dimensions with a mere flex of his mind. He knows at least four languages fluently, using them in the heat of battle to cast spells.
Standard Tactics: Evan is a conservative and analytical fighter willing to use whatever tools he has to win, carefully analyzing an enemy's fighting style and weaknesses to determine their weak points in a matter of seconds. He generally keeps foes away with a variety of different ranged attacks, using precognition and time loops to avoid otherwise-inevitable outcomes while utilizing time stop when an enemy is at their peak, disrupting them just before they can use a winning gambit or ultimate attack. Evan's fighting style, in fact, can be categorized as a disruptor, breaking an enemy's strategy and outplaying them at every turn, making their spells blow up in their face. In close-range, Evan utilizes temporal acceleration, launching spells like Raketti, and his natural acrobatics to make himself virtually impossible to hit, blitzing enemies with rapid spells and strikes at a close range. If Divinity is with him, the AI works on analyzing her opponents to determine biological or magical weaknesses and telepathically communicates this to Evan.
Weaknesses: His logic-over-emotion attitude often leads to him overthinking plans, creating overly-complicated schemes for something that could be done through much more simple measures. Has limited Mana to cast from his own body, but can supplement this with his potions and Lucirian, which also allows him to command magic elements.

Notable Attacks and Techniques:
One of the Eight Chaos Elements, the term used by the gods of Eden for the eight colors of Aether that they hold dominion over. The Chaos Elements are each composed of the fundamental information that shapes all concepts, being the stuff from which reality springs forth. Evan, in particular, holds dominion over Pink Aether, or "Lucirian". Called "Mind" in the Edenverse and sometimes taking on a Yellow hue, Lucirian is the element that holds command over all mental processes. Will, Thoughts, Emotions, Memories, Dreams, and Intelligence become things that Evan is capable of manipulating freely. Lucirian is manipulated by the goddess Athena, and Evan's psychic power is stated to rival the combined consciousness of the rest of his universe. However, continual reliance on Lucirian has led to wielders losing their sense of empathy or even remote sense of emotion, leaving them to take on a fiercely logical approach regardless of context of the situation. And like Tesseract, they can often lose themselves within it.
- Mind Blasts: Evan is able to fire projectiles and blasts of Lucirian, psychic energy attacks that affect the mind as well as the body, causing splitting headaches and launching with telekinetic force.
- Telepathy: Evan's strong suit. He is able to cast Telepathy-based attacks at others, not only influencing their mind, but reading it. Even mid-combat, Evan can read a person's thoughts, emotions, and memories, giving him a very good idea on what an opponent is about to do, or the reason for their fighting. He can also track the mental signatures of others, letting him keep an eye on them from massive distances away.
- Mind Wave Manipulation: Evan is able to physically grasp mind waves, lines of mental energy formed by all mental processes that are invisible to the naked eye. By manipulating these, Evan can change the nature of thoughts before sending them on their way, though the application of this in combat has yet to be explored.
- Mind Cage: Evan can form a cage of mental energy around a person's head, protecting them from external influences by forming a barrier between themselves and the controller.
- Telekinesis: Evan is able to use high level telekinesis through psionic power, lifting entire airships. In this fashion, he should be comparable to Excelion and Zephyr, who can crush entire planets into Black Holes and lift the resulting Mineral X out of the singularity.
- Mind Stones: Stones formed of solidified Mind Waves, essentially being a person's entire consciousness made physical and plucked from their soul. A consciousness is still technically "alive", and can communicate with anyone in its surroundings, including other Mind stones. All nearby Mindstones often bolster their own psychic prowess merely by proximity.
- Dream Manipulation: Among Evan's most powerful abilities, this ability only manifests when asleep, or when dealing with a sleeping foe. Evan can manipulate the Dreamscape, the infinite plane where all dreams are formed from the collective unconscious of humanity. When in the Dreamscape, he can hold a mental battle with his foe, manipulating the entire infinite plane to strike his foe from any angle, with any ability he pleases. Fighting inside the dreamscape, Evan is an unstoppable god. Even Zephyr was forced to outsmart him by having Reyna take over his sleeping body, attacking Evan's sleeping form in the physical world.
- Astral Projection: Evan can project his consciousness into the Dreamscape at any time, and he can also forcibly do this to others, bringing himself and his opponent to the dreamscape while knocking out their bodies in the physical world.
- Reality Bubble: As an offshoot of his Dreamscape control, Evan can briefly make a small segment of it physical, projecting it as a sphere onto the real world that he can manipulate freely without affecting the outside world. This ability has been likened to the mirror dimension from Doctor Strange, with similar affects and functions.
- Magical Mastery: Magic is controlled by mental processes. Through mastering the element of Lucirian, and his own training, Evan has increased his ability to use magic immeasurably. Through Lucirian, Evan can control all magical elements, manipulating space, time, and the elements at his leisure, and Word of God states that he could theoretically do anything he wished given enough time and focus.
Time Magic is the art that Evan has dedicated much of his life to, and he has mastered it to a degree that would take other mages decades to reach. He can manipulate Time without speechcraft, allowing him to completely turn the tables on an enemy in an instant, something Evan is quite fond of doing. His powers can work on other Champions of Chaos, who can resist the timeless effects of the Void, as well as Infinity Manipulation.
- Time Stop: Evan's trump card, and his ace in the hole. Evan is able to stop time for a period of time for a max of 20-30 seconds. While it may seem like a simple ability, its power lies in its potency. This ability can freeze other Champions of Chaos, even those like Zephyr, who possesses a magical immunity to space-time alterations, and the other champions which are capable of functioning within the timeless Void. Evan does not spam this due to the magic it takes him to cast, and instead waits for perfect opportunities to use it when the enemy's guard is down, or when he can best disrupt their rhythm.
- Precognition: Evan is able to see into the future by physically experiencing it. The full length of this is unknown, but it at the very least spans a whole conversation, allowing him to detect the Alternate Michael's approach and intervention seconds before it happened. This precognition functions on even acausal beings like Wraiths.
- Time Reversal: Different from time travel, Evan is able to rewind time by short intervals, allowing him to forcibly retry a battle or action. This was done against Alternate Michael, working on him despite his natural temporal resistances and acausality.
- Duplication: Evan is able to form temporal Duplicates of himself for a brief time, allowing him to multiply the power of his spells by firing multiple at once, or cast various spells in a short interval to turn himself into a one-man army.
- Time Gears: Evan is able to manifest large blue gears around him, allowing him to increase his own power over the fabric of time. This allows him to break out of and supplant other time mages' control over time, turning the playing field back to him.
- Temporal Ray: With his gears amplifying him, Evan can fire a ray of energy that "tears at the fabric of time". It creates a temporal vortex on impact, distorting dimensions to create a black hole that bends dimensions around it.
- Time Loops: Evan is able to create miniature time loops, letting him play out scenes multiple times. He has mentioned, however, that he hates doing this within temporal space, as the god of time has complained about it. Even so, he has shown the ability to utilize these on beings as powerful as Alternate Michael, although his usage of Ink allowed him to notice and incapacitate Evan shortly after. Evan also has time loops set inside his body, always active to reduce his need to eat and drink to a tiny fraction.
- Double Time Loop: A technique developed by Evan himself. This creates two parallel time loops that loop in on eachother, allowing him to erase any objects caught within it. As Evan explains, when an object is caught in a double time loop, it is sent back in time to several seconds ago. However, this causes it to collide with the second loop, forcing it to return to the present, ad infinitum. The resulting paradox is forcibly sorted out by consigning the object into nothingness, making it so that it never existed.
One of Evan's four major magic types. Speechcraft gives life to Magic by pulling it up through the power of speech, using whatever the wielder chooses as their focus to shape reality. In Evan's case, he uses Speechcraft by speaking in various foreign languages, different ones adding different effects. Of the languages Evan has shown, speaking in Latin is a general enhancement, Finnish is for speed, and Norwegian is for power. Word of God states that Evan has no limit on the kinds of spells he can use with this, requiring only the ability to speak and the word to shape the spell to the desired effect, but this ability is disabled should Evan be struck in the throat, as shown when he fought Cinder. Shown spells utilized in this way are:
- Fio Tinea (Become Moths): Evan transmutes an incoming attack into a swarm of Moths, such as Grimnir's meteor.
- Clostrum Lacero (Tear Cloister): A spell used to undo seals, shooting Mana into a barrier to find its weaknesses and load-bearing points and shatter it.
- Petra Confractus (Rock Break): A spell used against earthen constructs, unleashing an explosion inside the rock, boulder, or golem that causes it to shatter into pieces.
- Congelo Crepitus (Freeze Crack): A spell that creates an explosion of ice and snow from the ground, encasing a target in ice up to their neck.
- Fragor (Crash): A simple spell that unleashes a large explosive laser. Evan can spam this easily, being a spell he can cast in rapid succession.
- Raketti (Rocket): A spell that launches Evan forward at high speed, used to increase the physical power of his spear.
- Spiralis Spiculum (Spiral Spike): Evan coats his spear in a drill of energy to increase its piercing power.
- Jordkanon (Rock Cannon): Evan creates a cannon out of the rock and dirt around him, firing it at high speeds that can hurt even Radahn. Though simple, the spell has immense stopping power, being able to stagger a charging Radahn in his tracks.
- Arcus Petra (Arch Rock): Evan creates and fires a fan of crystalline darts, striking a foe with death by a thousand cuts.
- Fyr Av Kanoner (Lighthouse Cannon): Evan forms a flaming sphere of superheated wind and ash before launching it at his opponent, burning and blowing them away.
- Isutbrudd (Ice Outbreak): Evan unleashes an eruption of ice and snow from beneath a foe's feet, being much more violent and explosive compared to the encasing Congelo Crepitus.
- Stjernenbombe (Star Bomb): One of Evan's strongest spells. After a brief charge period, Evan holds out his hand, creating an utterly gargantuan explosion likened to a miniature supernova, that was able to eclipse every star in the night sky with its brightness, dimming even the Erdtree.
A type of magic focusing on seals, coding, and intellectual manipulations of magic. Evan is quite gifted with these, able to not only code, but disable Glyphs on his own. Glyphs are used to interface with Magitek, acting as the circuitry that shapes Mana into the desired configurations, and high-level mages like Evan can use this for incredible versatility. At their simplest, combat glyphs are used to shape raw elemental energy into more specific formations and attacks. Different shapes and configurations of a glyph's circuitry will shape the elements in different ways, allowing Evan to create things like razor-sharp pillars of light, spreading ice traps, and holy magic that targets a foe's internals. Furthermore, Glyphs can be altered to activate only under certain conditions.
- Counterspell Glyphs: Glyphs that activate automatically when magical energy touches them. Evan can alter the sensitivity of these, allowing them to go off automatically in places of high magical energy, or to be more sensitive and activate against active spells.
- Exploding Glyphs: Simple glyphs that Evan can place on opponents with a touch. After a short time delay, or when an Opponent moves too fast, they will violently explode.
- Turret Glyphs: Glyphs that remain up, forming orbs of magic that continually fire and seek out opponents. These are long-lasting spells that Evan has likened to Mini-Mages, each having specific spells he can place in them.
- Platform Glyphs: A simple application of Glyphs, used by Weiss Schnee, is to create platforms to let the user walk. Evan can maneuver around at high speeds using Glyphs to jump off of the air.
- Eruption Glyphs: Glyphs placed on the ground, that erupt when a target steps on them, acting as landmines that can erupt into fire, ice, lightning, or more at any given point.
- Simple Glyphs: Glyphs that dissolve immediately after being spent. While short-lived, they are useful against opponents like Cinder, who can corrupt and take control over magic.
- Propulsion Glyphs: Glyphs enchanted with propulsion spells, meant to drastically increase Evan's speed and launch him and his allies around.
In addition to Time Magic, Speechcraft, and Glyphs, Evan has shown the ability to use a variety of other various magic types, which he can manifest through runes, glyphs, speechcraft, or simply thinking.
- Transmutation: Evan can transmute matter and create life with a mere slam of Gungnir. He turned a meteor into a swarm of moths, then transmuted those moths into a swarm of tiny suns that surrounded and engulfed his opponent entirely. He is able to instantly turn sand into stone and transmute it into a chair, expunge the water from wet objects, instantly freeze a river, and change the state of matter altogether.
- Counterspells: Evan can counter any spell by attacking it pre-emptively with his own, canceling out fire with water, disrupting glyphs, and breaking the focus of casters to force them to fight him physically. Of course, he has to focus on this, preventing him from counterspelling and casting at the same time, but he can switch between them rapidly.
- Barriers: Evan is quite gifted in creating barriers. He can create multiple layers of forcefields across various directions with a simple twirl of Gungnir, and always possesses a multi-layer barrier around his own body, meant to absorb and disperse energy so that he can fight alongside the rest of the champions. He can create them as flat layers, skintight shields, mental wards, and spheres that protect multiple allies at once, and he can even weaponize these as razor sharp discs.
- Magicka Orbs: A type of magic casting from the Castle Crashers/Magicka fusion branch. Evan learned how to cast this from playing the game and experiencing it himself during a Hollow Hunt. This type of magic is used through Orbs containing various magical elements, which the user combines up to five of to produce a magical effect.
- Buff Spells: Evan knows various support spells that he can cast by the dozens, in various ways. he can carve or manifest runes, cast them through speechcraft, or simply manipulate them through thought alone. These spells are able to increase a person's speed, magic, and strength alike.
- Elemental Manipulation: Evan holds control over all eight primary magical elements: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Lightning, Ice, Light, and Darkness. He has shown the ability to control them in various ways, with Earth, Fire, and Ice being his most-used and Air and Darkness being his least-used. Evan typically combines these with his Glyphs to create highly-advanced spells.
- Healing: Evan is able to heal impalement, reattaching his spine and repairing the hole made in his body with what he calls a "basic" healing spell.
- Energy Manipulation: Evan can catch, absorb, and redirect energy freely, channeling Zephyr's lightning attack through his spear and directing it into the ground. Furthermore, he is able to fire various kinds of energy blasts, including swarms of energy shards, homing energy bolts, exploding magic missiles, and more.
- Dimensional Manipulation: As a side effect of his time magic, and honed through practice, Evan can manipulate dimensions to create a pocket world. He was able to transmute a Black Hole in this way, turning it into a parallel world filled with stars, that he later illuminated with the combined force of his attacks.
