Summary[]

Joshua T. Connor is a Driver of the ALSAN Blue Flash, and one of the main characters within ALSAN: Men Against The End and its sequel ALSAN: Winds of the King. Having his origins in extremely poor parts of the world, Joshua was a boy with severely defeatist and nihilistic views, blaming humanity for the misery he found himself in. With the arrival of Drivers, however, Joshua began to admire life again, specially as he found himself capable of piloting an ALSAN.

This reinvigorated faith proved itself in Joshua's new ideals, fighting for those who lived much as he did beforehand. Despite having a problem with authority, Joshua vowed to fight for the military in order to save the world. It is there that he meets his brothers-in-arms, John Killian Johnson and Karl Major, whom he forms a close bond to in their battle against the End.

As its main differentiating factor, Blue Flash is equipped with engines capable of generating electromagnetic fields around himself, allowing for extensive control of metal, as well as delivering powerful shocks capable of ionizing the air and stunning even Crimson Phantasms[6]), limited Light Manipulation (Bent a laser with his field at its highest setting by altering the trajectory of high-energy electrons within the laser[5]), Explosion Manipulation, Homing Attack and Danmaku (ALSANs are equipped with dozens to hundreds of homing micro-missiles intended to disrupt or intercept attacks[3]), Enhanced Senses (ALSANs are capable of zooming their vision in[8], and are equipped with infrared[1]), Regeneration (High-Low, Animachina Core only: An ALSAN's Animachina is capable of restoring itself in the same way its Drivers can[3]), Physics Manipulation (An ALSAN passively warps physics around it, moving at mach speeds without a sonic boom[8], protecting Drivers from most impacts the mech suffers[1] and allowing them to fly in space[9]), Information Analysis (An ALSAN's mission command is capable of remotely scanning Phantasm regeneration and intuiting its Core position[8]. ALSANs themselves are capable of analyzing the damage they have suffered all the way down to the atomic level[1]), Air Manipulation (ALSANs are air-tight and produce their own oxygen[7]), Resistance to Macro-Quantum Manipulation and Physics Manipulation (ALSANs can resist[1] Crimson Phantasms' weak force attacks[10], which normally disintegrate what they hit), Radiation Manipulation (ALSANs are protected against radiation, allowing them to operate in areas recovering from nuclear strikes or in space[1])

All previous abilities to a far greater degree, Enhanced Regeneration (Joshua could heal after violent bleeding from his eyes and mouth[11]), Enhanced Non-Physical Interaction (Hyper Synchronicity ALSANs adapt their attacks to be capable of harming unconventional foes[11], allowing them to harm the Piece of Death, who is the abstract idea of evil[1]), Telepathy (The three Hyper Synchronicity pilots can communicate with one another directly[1], and even subconsciously transmit information between one another in combat[11]), Extrasensory Perception and Enhanced Senses (Joshua, John and Karl are each capable of seeing[11] the forces that they now control, as well as see in the pure darkness of a sun-less dimension[1]), Sealing (Hyper Synchronicity is a ritual that grants the power to seal away those such as the Piece of Death[1]), Enhanced Electro-Magnetism Manipulation, Physics Manipulation (Joshua possesses total control over electromagnetism, one of the four fundamental forces. His field, even at a base, being stronger than a Magnetar's, being powerful enough to bend any and all types of matter, not just of metallic materials. Created an explosion of electricity the size of a small planet[11]), Absorption (Can connect with other fields from other celestial bodies to draw on their powers, subsiming them into his own magnetic field [11]), Matter Manipulation (Macro-Quantum. Even at his lowest setting, the sheer magnetic force found within his magnetic field could pluck the electrons out of the atoms of everything within a thousand kilometer radius from himself if he so desired, reducing others to stray sub-atomic particles. Was pulling on all metallic particles within the Endbringer and would have completely disintegrated it if he stayed in it for more than a second. Alongside the physical projectiles from his railgun, his shots now release small scale gamma ray bursts that blast everything with high energy X-Rays and gamma rays[11]), Energy Manipulation (Has an immense level of control over electromagnetic energy. Can utilize and deflect energy with his fields, even managing to direct the hawking radiation from the collapsing Final Justice: End of Days into the Piece of Death[11]), Metal Manipulation (Has complete control over metallic particles, blew apart pieces of the Piece of Death by throwing blades of metal at him), Enhanced Resistance to Macro-Quantum Manipulation and Physics Manipulation (Can resist the weak force in their makeup being drastically amplified by the Piece of Death, whose abilities greatly dwarf any Phantasm's, though he is still affected somewhat[1]), Soul Manipulation, Fear Manipulation and Madness Manipulation (Unaffected by the Piece of Death's Ego Death waves[11])

Their missile barrages are capable of redirecting Supermassive attacks in high enough quantities. At 100% Field Strength, threw the Vermillion Striker at these speeds, hard enough to kill ASLAN, and deflected an entire barrage of projectiles from the Ox Gargoyle) | Moon level (Would have been able to easily stop the Endbringer. Managed to control and redirect the resulting energy from 9/10ths of Final Justice: End of Days' mass being turned into raw hawking radiation, sending it against the Piece of Death[11])

Speed: Superhuman (Can run at 22 meters per second[2]), Hypersonic+ with The Power of The Soul | Hypersonic (Less bulky and more agile than his brothers in arms even without the electromagnetic field, and thus should be comparable in speed to them), up to Hypersonic+ with Electromagnetic Field (Moves far faster than other ALSANs with the help of his Electromagnetic Field, far speedier than the Ox Gargoyle, who can move at 2.6 km/s even at 75% Field Strength, and can move at 3.12 km/s at 90% Field Strength. By going above his limits into 100% he can reach half the speed of escape velocity, although such speeds are extremely dangerous to maintain for a long period of time), Hypersonic+ attack speed (Faster than even himself at 100% Field Strength, intercepted the Crimson Striker moments before it could strike the Vermillion Striker, despite being very far away from them) | FTL+ (Even with a massively casual Field Strength of 300,000%, Joshua managed to move 56 times faster than light. His railgun shots went from Earth to the Asteroid Belt in 10 seconds[11]), up to Massively FTL with Electromagnetism (His speeds increase proportionally with his Field Strength, up to a maximum of 1,000,000%[11])

Intelligence: Even among ALSAN Drivers, who are extensively trained since youth in combat and tactics, Joshua is notable for his skill in piloting his ALSAN, being noted as one of the greatest Drivers in history, only surpassed by the likes of Richard Hawks. Capable of thinking of plans on the fly even in situations where the odds are against him, managing to defeat several Supermassives by guiding his friends. Managed to time the power surge and pathways of his Elecromagnetic Field with the Ox Gargoyle's laser, guiding it towards the Crimson Strike; when that was countered, Joshua managed to hit the Crimson Striker in the head despite being blinded at the time.

Standard Tactics: The Blue Flash is not a hand-to-hand ALSAN, something that Joshua exploits to his utmost capabilities. Being incredibly fast even by the standards of other ALSANs, the Blue Flash will usually flee battles that bring itself close to him, pelting his enemies with his incredibly powerful railgun shots and other metal projectiles amassed by his Electromagnetic Field. Against enemies that use metal or are made of metal, Joshua will put himself closer in order to disrupt the enemy with his Field, being more protected against those enemies than most would be otherwise. | Joshua repeats the same tactics he would use normally, now enhanced by the massive strength of his Electromagnetism.

Weaknesses: Direct usage of their own souls' power is very tiring for Drivers, necessitating the use of an ALSAN[3]. The shockwaves of particularly powerful impacts suffered by the ALSAN will reach their pilot[1]. If the Animachina Core of an ALSAN is destroyed, it will stop functioning and break apart in seconds[3]. The Blue Flash's railgun only has 12 shots in store, and using its field at levels higher than 90% puts a strain in Joshua and Blue Flash, being only able to be used reliably at short bursts. In Hyper Synchronicity, he is unable to affect items of truly staggering mass[1].

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Sundown Annihilator: The Blue Flash’s arms may, at any moment, morph into a massive railgun, extending 15 meters in length. The process is lengthy, but worth it, as projectiles fired are accelerated far beyond the speed of sound, traveling a hefty distance as well. As they are accelerated by the electromagnetic field, an electric charge is built into the projectiles, detonating with an explosion of lightning and heat on impact. The rate of fire is slow, and only 12 rounds are chambered in, although the Blue Flash can, with time, collect enough minute amounts of metal with its field via an opening in its feet to create new projectiles. These are not as powerful as dedicated projectiles, but their strength is nothing to scoff at.
  • Electromagnetic Field: The Blue Flash is smaller and lighter than most other ALSANs, shaving weight, durability and raw power in exchange for greater speed than most other ALSANs. Its ability to manifest electromagnetic fields manifests broadly from an engine near his cockpit, which generates a personal field at all times around it. The strength can be dialed, and at it’s passive state it only manifests as an effect meant to enhance his own image, small amounts of metal slowly floating in its near vicinity. At higher potencies, the field serves not only as a form of reactive shock towards damage, but may also be calibrated to gather metal to form a shield around itself, enough to take one or two hits before crumbling.
  • By controlling itself with its personal field at its higher settings, the Blue Flash may also move even faster than normal, flying with its thrusters faster and more agile than any other known ALSAN, able to dodge even a barrage of missiles by weaving around it.
    • Electromagnetism: Hyper Synchronicity exclusive. The ability to draw in objects, primarily refers to metal but has expanded to 100,000% capacity, with a limit of 1,000,000%, allowing a generalized control of any objects up to a certain level of mass. Can generate the effect of a railgun on any object, launching them at extreme speeds from an explosive release of repulsive force.
