“ | Don't you remember me in Thales? I think millions of years imprisoned in Tartarus haven't done you much good. I am Izanagi, the Shinto god of creation, sky, light and destruction. Almighty and Glorious, and far more powerful than you. | „ |
~ Izanagi to Chaos. |
Izanagi-no-Mikoto, currently known as Akira Watanabe, is the Shinto God of Creation and Destruction in Warriors of Eden, husband of the goddess Izanami and father of Tsukuyomi, Susanoo, and Amaterasu. Izanagi died countless of years ago, destroying himself, what he didn't expect was that "God would have other plans for him" and several of years later, Izanagi reincarnated as a human, although his spirit was still divine, and he started to think in a plan to save Izanami from Yomi. Currently, Izanagi remains sealed within Isaac Smith's body, with Izanami.
Backstory[]
Izanagi was born millions of years ago to his twin-sister, Izanami, and they both grew up together and later married. Both were human, valiant people of great honor, who came to be worshiped as deities and, when they died, their spirits ascended and they became what humanity calls "gods". After becoming gods, both decided to have children and had countless children, some were powerful gods that are known to this day like Susanoo, Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, while others like Hiruko and Awashi were born without powers and very weak, with the two being forced to abandon their children and let them be raised by mortal humans on orders from the Council of Godheads, as their children were not considered deities.
However, the couple always managed to live with a healthy and loving relationship, despite the fights and jealousy. Izanagi also created a dimension called Takamagahara, which was full of stars and life, which served as the Shinto Heaven for him and his family to live in. Izanami also created a dimension, which was called Yomi and was located hundreds of kilometers below the current city of Tokyo, accessible through Mount Fuji. During this time, the family of gods lived relatively well, but everything changed when Izanami became pregnant and gave birth to the god of fire, Kagutsuchi, who at birth burned Izanami from the inside out, killing her in the process.
Izanagi was sleeping during Izanami's delivery and was surprised when he woke up and didn't find her. Izanagi then thought that she could be in Yomi and went down to the place where she could be and when he got there he was startled to see that Izanami's body was completely burned and rotted, with eight thunders coming out of her body, something that made Izanagi scared and, Izanami in anger, went after Izanagi to kill him, but the God took a large mountain and threw it over the entrance of the cave, mountain currently called Mount Fuji.
After that, Izanami swore that he would kill one thousand living beings a day to get revenge on Izanagi and Izanagi in response said that he would create fifteen hundred living beings a day. Izanagi after that, had to live and rule the Shinto world for millions of years, although he always regretted what he had done, he also ended up developing a bad reputation among the other pantheons for having abandoned Izanami, but he continued to rule his kingdom with authority and wisdom for several millennia. After a long time, Izanagi realized it was time for him to rest and handed over the rulership of the pantheon to his favorite daughter, Amaterasu, and climbed to the top of Awaji-no-Ho-no-Sawake Island, where he dissipated his spirit and died.
However, God had other plans for Izanagi. Many years later, God restored Izanagi's soul and reincarnated him into a human body in the 21st century. Izanagi was born in Japan, in the city of Tokyo, with the name of Akira Watanabe, where he lived for several years and, as time went by, as he grew older, his memories of divinity came back little by little. After fully recovering his memories of his past life, Akira began looking for a way to invade Mount Fuji to descend to Yomi and get Izanami out of there, if she was still alive. A few months before this period occurred the events involving Lucifer and his purification, with the Morning Star ascending into the sky and leaving its dark shadow wandering the planet.
With the awakening of the Great Red Dragon, the fabric of reality began to become unstable and to disintegrate thanks to the Great Red's powers, something that caught the attention of the God Izanagi. He then tracked down the power and later met Lucifer's brother Isaac Smith, along with his angel friends Daniel and Shekhinah, and the sorceress Elizabeth. After meeting with the angels and the half-demon, Izanagi explained that he was sorry for what he had done to Izanami and wanted to fix things, and for that he needed help from reliable people, that is, God's elect. Isaac and his group decide to help Izanagi, with Daniel and Shekhinah calling the three gods, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susanoo, who after a conversation with their father, descended from the top of Mount Fuji, reaching the center of the Earth, where Yomi was.
After a long search inside the Yomi, Izanagi met with Izanami who, with fury, attacked the God, who did not retaliate against her attacks and let himself be hit on purpose. Isaac and Elizabeth tried to calm the goddess's nerves, but their hatred was already supernatural and could not simply be smothered with words from "mere mortals". Shekhinah thought about interfering, but Izanagi insisted that she stay out of this fight. When finally Izanami was almost getting to kill Izanagi, she asks him why he didn't retaliate her blows, with Izanagi replying that he didn't dare fight back her attacks after what he did to her, with the god finally asking her forgiveness for everything. When Izanagi asked Izanami for forgiveness, she was in for a shock as she had waited years and years to get revenge and suddenly the god's words had calmed her heart and made her regret attacking Izanagi. The goddess then disappeared for a few hours, reflecting on her choices and, after returning, decided that she would try to forgive Izanagi, with the angels finally taking her out of Yomi.
During the events against Chaos, Izanagi decided to fight fiercely against the Greek entity, showing that he was much stronger than her, however, when Chaos' power had increased, the god of creation decided to try a fusion with Isaac, which didn't work out very well due to huge difference in power between them, with Isaac taking 100% control of the body. Later, Izanami also merges with Isaac, with the two gods co-existing within the human's body, giving him enough power to defeat the God of Chaos.
Appearance[]
As Akira Watabana, Izanagi has the appearance of a young Japanese adult with black hair and reddish eyes, possessing fair skin, a slender body and is seen wearing casual clothes. Despite his cute and handsome appearance, Izanagi is described as having an imposing presence, even in his base form already putting awe in Chaos, who was immediately startled upon realizing that it was the Almighty God Izanagi standing before him. Izanagi's eyes are described as containing within them the power of creation and destruction.
In his god form, Izanagi has the appearance of a very handsome man with black hair with red accents, fair skin and golden eyes. He is seen wearing a white term with a red t-shirt underneath.
Personality[]
“ | I'm willing to do anything including sacrifice myself to protect the universe. But first, I will merge with you through the god fusion ritual created by you, Aurora. | „ |
~ Izanagi says he will sacrifice himself to protect the world. |
Izanagi is known among the pantheons for having been a mighty and glorious God, a true Lord of heaven and earth, being feared and admired by many gods and goddesses of various pantheons. He was known as the mighty God of Heaven and the All-Glorious Izanagi, the King of Heavens and the resplendent husband of Izanami, with both being seen as gods among gods, among gods. Just the mention of his name was enough for many deities to be afraid of him. No wonder, Izanagi was a living legend, also much adored among humans during the pre-flood period.
Izanagi also has a great hatred and anger towards the Council of Godheads, a council of the most powerful gods on Earth who were responsible for laying down the rules for the pagan gods. Because of the council, Izanagi and Izanami were forced to abandon their non-deity children, as only gods had the right to live in the land of the gods, with both of them giving their children to humans to raise. Despite being quite powerful and even stronger than many members of the council of deities, Izanagi could not go against their orders, as this could result in a powerful war between the Pantheons. Izanagi even after reincarnating, still cries for his children he was prevented from raising, the same for Izanami. Izanagi, however, claims to his wife that they may have stopped them from raising their children, but not from loving them.
Many know that Izanagi is a wondrously and extremely benevolent, calm, loving and patient being, he is a firm, authoritative and just being in his dominion and authority over his pantheon, but very merciful in judging. Izanagi is not indifferent, but he does not like to interfere in the lives of others and prefers to let others live on their own terms and make their own decisions. His ways are also said to be highly mysterious, so much so that not even his children or even his wife are able to understand his mode of operation unless he himself informs them. It is believed that one can go mad if he tries to understand their motives and methods.
He is often silent, calm, balanced and patient. His moral standards are always seen as prudently fair and impartial most of the time, and many come to respect him for that. The reason for such benevolence, of course, was because Izanagi, like other humans from the antediluvian eras, believed in the great and overwhelming Yahweh, and saw him as his greatest source of inspiration and motivation. However, Izanagi saw God as more than a palpable entity, he saw Him as a concept, an inspiration for all that is right, true and just.
However, Izanagi lost much of his fame as a benevolent and righteous being after what he did to Izanami, abandoning her to Hell because he was afraid of her appearance. The truth is that Izanagi was really scared of Izanami's appearance, but the reason he ran away was because she attacked him because she was angry that he looked at her. Izanagi had no choice but to seal Izanami in Hell. Although he was very kindness, Izanagi was as flawed as any other human being. Despite this, when the two were reunited, Izanagi knelt before Izanami and lost forgiveness to her for everything and said that he would understand her if she continued to hate him for all eternity, saying that if she wanted to, she could marry someone else, but he would never stop loving her. Eventually, with the help of her children and conversations with Isaac and Elizabeth, Izanami was able to forgive Izanagi and admitted that she had never stopped loving him, stating that despite the posture she had in hell when he appeared to ask for forgiveness, she mentions that all she wanted to do with him after seeing him again after years was to hug and kiss him and never let him go. With Isaac still saying the bible verse of Matthew 19:6 that what God has joined together, no one can separate.
According to both Zeus and Shiva, it is extremely rare and difficult for Izanagi to possess negative feelings, yet according to Amaterasu, Susanoo e Tsukuyomi, Izanagi's divine wrath is describe to be an unspeakable and frighteningly endless force of storm that cannot be calm, once it was unleash. Known for being a mighty god of the storm, the sky, and the physical incarnation of creation and destruction, that is, the act of creating and giving life, as well as the act of destroying and taking life, Izanagi was feared by ancient gods who were enemies of the Shinto pantheon, including the primordial god himself, Chaos.
Izanagi is ironically a religious person and attends churches. However, he prays to Jesus Christ for salvation instead of Ame-no-Minakanushi-no-Kami. In relation to how he describes Jesus Christ, one could assume that to him, Jesus Christ is on the same level, if not more important, than God Himself.
Izanagi's children, Amaterasu, Susanoo and Tsukuyomi, gave their strength and energy, their lives and their souls to their father for him to fulfill his goal of protecting humanity, showing that despite his flaws, his children always loved him. In the end, Izanagi once again showed his benevolence by using his last strength and powers to merge himself with Isaac, in order to help him become more powerful, becoming part of God's Anointed. Izanami, too, chose to share the same fate, merging with Isaac also alongside Izanagi, with the two now together forever, inhabiting the body of the humblest of all men on earth, Isaac Smith.
Before he left, Izanagi and Izanami asked Isaac that when he entered the kingdom of God and if he found their lost children like Hiruko and Awashi, he would tell them that they were sorry, and that they had always loved them and always will love them, with Isaac promising and later fulfilling his promise made to the couple of gods.

When he assumes a human form, his body can be completely destroyed by opponents stronger than him, it doesn't kill him, unless the opponent has some ability that by affecting his physical body affects his true form, such as Soul Manipulation, Existence Erasure, between others. Remembering that for someone to be able to hurt his true form it is necessary to have the same level of power as her and it is not enough to just destroy the physical form (this is not necessary in the case with a hax that ignores durability and can affect spiritual beings).
