Summary[]

Angel Israphel is a supporting character in the Great War Saga of Deus Ex Gyrus. He is an angel from the heavenly realm of Sephirot, who was captured through currently-unknown means and contained within one of the demon king Beelzebub's prisons, experimented on in violent fashion, as Beel was attempting to harvest his unique abilities. In the process, Israphel and his fellow angels lost their wings, their halos, and many pieces of their souls, but they were ultimately rescued by Apollyon Bela and her party. Whereas the other angels returned to Sephirot, Israphel opted to stay behind and join the fight against Beelzebub and the other demon kings.

Personality[]

Israphel has shown to be rather naive, fitting of his young age as far as angels are concerned. He mentioned never having seen Algo before being brought to Makai, and lacks knowledge of many things, such as animals and plants. He is also quite curious, and enjoys learning about these things. Israphel also has no experience in matters of sex or romance, with allegories or outright statements of such going over his head entirely - something that he has experienced quite often due to currently residing in Makai.

His demeanor is calm, and very few things have shown to be able to shake him, as is standard with many angels, though he does bear a deeply-rooted emotional turmoil due to having been violently experimented on by Beelzebub for the purposes of harvesting his soul arm. Nevertheless, the fact that he was able to endure and not give in to despair despite being tortured until he could no longer walk, outright losing his wings and halo in the process, speaks to the immense amount of will that the Angel possesses.

Israphel has been shown to greatly care for his people, calling them his "brothers and sisters" and joining Apollyon's quest to overthrow Beelzebub, being the only one of his kind that offered to help her in that endeavor. Unlike many angels, he harbors no hatred for demons, especially given that it was demons who saved him in the first place.

Personal Statistics[]

Name: Angel Israphel

Origin: Deus Ex Gyrus

Gender: Genderless (Male pronouns)

Age: 185

Height: 4'7"

Birthday: Unknown

Species: Angel, Lower Sphere

Combat Statistics[]

Tier: At least High 7-A, possibly 6-B

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Aetheric Physiology (Mage), Acausality (Type 2. As creatures of order, Angels are deeply rooted into the local timeline, preventing past and future attacks from harming them due to their immutable nature. However, they are just as vulnerable within the present), Immortality (Types 1, 2, 3, and 5. Angels do not age, and can regenerate from serious wounds. Furthermore, as creatures of order, they are exempt from the typical cycles of life and death, meaning that life and death spells do not have an effect on them. Destroying their souls directly is required to kill them; however, their bodies can still be smashed to pieces to incapacitate them), Weapon Mastery (An expert marksman, able to perfectly use his bow, as it is his soul arm. He can hit moving targets that are behind cover, outright curving his shots after they've been fired to strike his foes), Holy Manipulation (As an angel, Israphel is naturally attuned to the holy element, and is constructed of holy materials), Order Manipulation (Angels are creatures of order, and their presence passively mutes Chaos and nullifies the natural Acausality of demons), Statistics Reduction (Holy Magic has a natural weakening effect on the body, reducing one's physical and magical strength as it strikes them), Inorganic Physiology (Type 1; Angels are artificial beings that possess souls, their bodies being made of complex clockwork machinery and outer bodies composed of a supernaturally-touch material akin to porcelain), Forcefield Creation (Angels passively form a skintight barrier made of holy energy around their bodies that they can expand and shape into various forms), Regeneration (Mid; Angels can regenerate from serious damage to their bodies including being shot in the head and bifurcated; However, they cannot regrow limbs, and must reattach them instead), Regeneration and Immortality Negation (Up to Low-Godly, types 1, 2, 3, and 6. The attacks of Angels are capable of negating demonic regeneration and immortality, with even Israphel's Assiah arrows being capable of killing demon guards that Beelzebub sent), Flight (Even without wings, Angels are still capable of levitation), Creation (Even the tears of Angels are holy in nature, and rapidly crystallize into Holy Magicite), Soul Manipulation (Angels can absorb the souls of others, and their soul arms attack the soul as well as the body, which includes a target's Information, Mind, and Origin), Resistance to Holy Manipulation and Statistics Reduction (As creatures of holy energy, Angels are entirely immune to holy attacks, simply growing stronger from and absorbing them into themselves), Corruption, Curse Manipulation (An angel's barrier protects them from corruptive influences, allowing them to function in Makai without falling), Empathic Manipulation and Fear Manipulation (Angels are creatures of order that have a very high resistance to emotional effects), Chaos Manipulation, Physics Manipulation (Angels are unaffected by Makai's influence as long as their barrier is active)

Weapon Creation (All angels are capable of manifesting Soul Arms, manifestations of their soul in the form of weapons. In Israphel's case, his soul arm is a Bow and an endless supply of arrows formed from holy magic), Explosion Manipulation (The arrows that Israphel shoots explode into holy energy upon impact), Danmaku (Can fire dozens of arrows at once without compromising his aim), Camouflage (Black Mist, his Dagger, allows him to hide his presence from sensory abilities, including senses like touch, able to infiltrate Belycet without being detected), Fire Manipulation (Crimson Pyre, his Longsword, allows him to emit Holy Fire), Information Analysis, Extrasensory Perception (Azure Tome, his book, functions as both an appraisal and tracking spell, though the effects are somewhat weak at long ranges)

Attack Potency: At least Large Mountain Level, possibly Country Level+ (Normally, lesser-rank angels are weak and expendable; however, due to absorbing the soul fragments of multiple other angels who he shared a strong bond with, Israphel is much stronger than a normal angel. Was able to damage a robot capable of tearing Apollyon in half, though he had to attack its weak spots to do so)

Speed: FTL Reactions and Combat Speed (Comparable to Apollyon)

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Durability: Unknown, Large Country Level with his barrier (Alongside Ciel Bela and Amy Valentine, formed a shield that blocked Beelzebub's Spirit Ray Cannon)

Stamina: Limitless so long as there is mana in the environment (Angels contain a mana reactor within their body that constantly generates magical energy, preventing them from ever running out of it)

Range: Tens of Kilometers with his soul arm (As a range-focused soul arm, he should be able to attack from a much greater range than human mages such as William Lockhart)

Standard Equipment: Various Soul Arms absorbed into his body, including a Shield, Wand, Dagger, Axe, Spear, Book, Pendulum, Key, and Longsword. His Astral Robe.

  • Astral Robe: The garb that all Angels wear. Astral Garbs are regenerating garments that can change their shape to whatever the angel deems necessary. In Israphel's case, he normally wears it as a simple white robe.

Intelligence: Though Israphel is quite Naive, he is still an excellent combatant. Being the holder of a Soul Arm, he has a natural mastery of the bow and arrow by simple virtue of the weapon being his own soul, and furthermore has well over a century of experience with it. His marksmanship is such that he can strike hairline fractures and moving targets behind cover, curving the trajectory of his arrows with a level of skill comparable to outright precognition. He is also extremely calm and cool-headed, as many angels are. This is a level of skill acquired through sheer instinct and natural talent, even with all of his knowledge stolen from him with the loss of his Halo.

Weaknesses: Currently lacks his wings and halo. Rather Naive due to the loss of much of his knowledge.

Notable Attacks and Techniques:

Soul Arms: A unique ability, where the user taps into the powers of their own soul, pulling a weapon from it. This weapon has a unique shape dependent on the user, and possesses a minor ability to it. A soul arm is incredibly durable and difficult to harm; however, it can be broken with enough force. Doing so will send vibrations through the wielder’s soul, knocking them unconscious. All angels have Soul Arms, which can take multiple forms of Ascension and grow stronger over time. Israphel possesses multiple Soul Arms due to absorbing the fragments of his fallen friends into themselves, and is known to possess at least eight of them. It should also be noted that Angels can form multiple copies of their soul arms, and will not be killed or incapacitated if they break.

  • Assiah:ACTION The first phase of a Soul Arm is the Assiah phase, in the language of Angels. Assiah Soul Arms are the most basic form that a Soul Arm can take, simply forming the weapon of the angel in question. Generally speaking, the Assiah phase comes with a basic shape, such as a bow or sword, and then possesses some manner of minor effect.
  • Yetzirah:FORMATION The second phase of a Soul Arm is the Yetzirah phase, in the language of Angels. Yetzirah Soul Arms become much more ornate and increase drastically in size, becoming some evolved form of the original weapon, such as a single longsword becoming a giant sword, or a gun becoming a ring of them. The Yetzirah Phase begins properly forming the weapon's ability into something more complex. The Yetzirah is the equivalent of the "Blazer" stage that mortal soul arms have.
  • Briah:CREATION The third phase of a Soul Arm, and the final phase that most angels are capable of reaching, is the Briah phase. Briah Soul Arms are even larger than before, often overwriting their surroundings. For example, a musical instrument may turn into a grand pipe organ, and a giant sword may evolve further into a suit of armor with bladed wings. Briah Soul Arms utilize the user's origin, causing their concept to infuse itself into the weapon. The Briah stage is the equivalent of the "Exalt" stage that mortal soul arms have.
  • Atziluth:EMANATION The fourth and final phase of an Angel's Soul Arm is the Atziluth phase. At this point, the Arm stops being a weapon and becomes more comparable to a Mindscape Realization, a mage technique that projects their inner Mindscape core onto the world. In this instance, the Soul Arm becomes a territory that carries an immutable law of some kind that affects the environment, projecting the user's concept of their spirit onto the world, emanating it outward. It is said that, within an Atziluth, an angel cannot be defeated.

Israphel's own Soul Arm.

  • Assiah: White Rain's Assiah Form takes the shape of an ornate bow. Within this form, Israphel's skill as a marksman shines, forming holy energy into an infinite supply of arrows that he can fire in large droves. The arrows can function as normal projectiles, as well as explode on impact, and Israphel is skilled enough with the weapon to curve his shots to hit moving goes behind cover, as well as strike into hairline fractures on an actively moving target's armor.
