Haruka Kuroda Is a side character in Path of Wills (意志の道) She is first seen in Chapter 6: "Final Preparations", where Asuna encounters her in an alleyway. Haruka attempts to force her to leave, but after failing, attempts to simply fight her, before Asuna convinces her otherwise to do it at the Adventurers tournament, which Haruka accepts.

During the Adventurers tournament, Haruka fought one of Asuna's closest allies, Shizu, In which she displayed most of her magic types and skills, using Dark/Shadow Magic to eventually emerge victorious, much to Asuna and Shizu's frustration. However, in the second round of the adventurers tournament, she was defeated by Asuna after she activated a "Limit-Break".

Appearance[]

Haruka is a short girl, having coloured eyes (One brown, One Blue) and waist-length white hair complete with red and black ribbons at their sides for an unknown purpose. Her attire consists of a black dress and short skirt with white borders, along with black boots and dark stockings, which also possess red ribbons on them. Most notably, Haruka carries a large Red & Black scythe around with her at all times, serving as her main weapon of choice. Notably, there are a few spots on Haruka's scythe that can glow red, and Haruka, additionally, can also give her eyes a small sparkle to intimidate enemies, very similar to Asuna.

Personality[]

Haruka is shown as a cold, almost emotionless girl. Even whilst giving her all against Shizu, she displayed little frustration or inability to focus and is also displayed as very mysterious, as little is known about Haruka, including her backstory, why she acts the way she does, etc. She prefers to be alone, going so far as trying to force those who "invade" her space out of her way, As she attempted to do with Asuna.

Powers And Abilities:

  • Reality Warping, Subjective Reality, Physics Manipulation, Vector Manipulation, & Law Manipulation (The Process of using magic involves the users’ imagination and creativity to shape the environment around them to their will, usually with elemental abilities, allowing adventurers to create various elemental phenomena from nothing, and even manipulate the laws of physics and their environment to their liking, such as manipulating space-time, dimensions, etc. although the scale of which they can do this depends on various factors, which includes the users’ willpower, mental capacity, physical condition, Skill, and XP gained.)
  • Shadow Tendrils (Can summon what is described as 'dark tendrils' out of her back, which can restrain and toss opponents around.)
  • Weapon Transformation (Can transform her scythe into a 3-Bladed mode, and implied to be able to transform it in various ways for various needs.)
  • Portal Creation (Can create dark holes in the ground to teleport herself or others anywhere she can think of, similarly to Asuna’s Riftways.)
  • Genius Intelligence (Haruka is frequently seen to be extremely cunning, both in combat and social situations.)
  • Mind Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, Fear Manipulation, Possession, & Pocket Reality Manipulation (Via “Void Of Despair” Skill. Haruka can trap opponents in a black void, which preys on an opponent’s worst fears or nightmares, e.g if a character has a fear of bees, they will find themselves surrounded by a horde of bees stinging them, being chased by bees whilst being shrunk to their size, and various other horrible versions of said fear. This skill is also stated by Shizu to be “Possessing” her. However, if an opponent has enough willpower, or is simply incapable of experiencing fear, they can break out of this easily.)
  • Information Analysis (Seemingly can deduce her opponents' worst fears the moment she see's them, even if it's someone she has never encountered, like shizu.)
  • Empowerment (Via other adventurers or allies. Can combine skills with another person to make them far stronger, and can even share mana even from long distances apart.)
  • Superhuman Precision (Can hit people from across the grand colosseum with great accuracy, which is over 100 kilometers in radius.)
  • Forcefield Creation (Via “Absolute Defense“ Skill. Can create an invisible forcefield around her, which can stop an attack that can overwhelm her from reaching her, though she seemingly cannot attack back in this state.)
  • Power Nullification (Via “Negate” Skill. Can use this to prevent the usage of a skill that an opponent is currently using, such as using it to disable a forcefield, stop an attack from reaching her, etc. However, this has a cooldown, and cannot be spammed.)
  • Immortality (Type 1 and 2. Although one’s physical body and soul can die, Their Spirit, AKA their consciousness, lives on, and is transported to hell, a separate dimension, and is given a new body in order to dreadfully serve Jorogumo, Though this would count as BFR. Should be able to survive the same attacks and damage as Shizu and Asuna.)
  • Afterimage Creation (Could keep pace with Shizu, who could create afterimages whilst fighting Kedron.)
  • Healing & Regeneration (Low-Mid, Via Healing Magic, Which can heal various deadly injuries, such as severed limbs, organ damage or obliteration, etc. Can be used on herself and allies alike.)
  • Dimensional Storage & Summoning (Can store her scythe and an unspecified amount of items and potions in what Asuna describes as an inventory, and can seemingly make whatever is within it appear out of thin air.)
  • Aura (Via Mana Surge)
  • Acrobatics (Hypermobility, All-Terrain Mobility, Mid-Air Jump, & Surface Running ; Could keep up with Shizu, who could evade extreme barrages from kedron without too much trouble, and was implied to be above her in both power and skill. And as result, Should be capable of similar, if not greater feats of mobility.)
  • Limited Soul Manipulation & Power Absorption (Very Shortly after Beings In-verse dies, they fade to an unknown glowing dust, which is referred to as "XP" by Asuna, which goes into the bodies of the individual/group that killed them, in this case, Haruka, and makes them stronger.)

  • Fear Manipulation (Is seemingly incapable of feeling fear. Is not intimidated by Asuna’s mana surge.)
  • Non-Physical Interaction, & Power Absorption (Every Living being in the verse have souls that are shielded by their own mana, preventing them from being affected by any known skill so far, Unless they have been killed.)
  • Madness Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Her nature should make her naturally resistant. Should be comparable to Asuna, Who Survived the mind games of the dark forest along with Shizu and Kianna without any sign of going crazy, whilst an ordinary adventurer went insane within minutes.)
  • Elemental Manipulation (Partial. Can resist various effects, such as being electrocuted or burned and not dying, assuming the attacker is not massively more powerful than her.)

  • Danmaku & Empathic Manipulation (Via [Barrage of Despair] Skill. Haruka can launch a flurry of of dark blasts from her body, which, on contact, can affect someone's will to fight, instilling them with a sense of inferiority, and thus making them weaker.)
  • Black Hole Creation (Via [Inescapable Void] Skill. Haruka can summon a large, dark orb anywhere around her, which can suck in opponents and objects at an extremely fast rate, which can leave them open for an attack. Haruka can also use this skill to summon multiple of them, which, if placed well, can restrict movement altogether, leaving an opponent vulnerable.)

  • Improved Weapon Transformation (Can make her scythes the size of entire countries whilst fighting Asuna.)
  • Power Mimicry (Could seemingly copy asuna's [Erasure] skill immediately after seeing it.)

Haruka seemingly has full control over the Void of Despair, but the amount of destruction or chaos she can generate within it is unknown, as it has only been shown to simply destroy a victims’ mental state.) | Multi-Continent Level+ (Capable of fighting equally with Post Limit-Break asuna for long periods of time, though it took the latter some time to overwhelm her.)

Speed: At Least FTL (Stated by Shizu to be able to move faster than a beam of light during their battle.) | Massively FTL+ (Casually overwhelmed Asuna before her limit break was activated, and still kept up for a time after the former activated it.)

Standard Equipment:

  • Haruka's Scythe: A black/red coloured scythe, which serves as haruka's typical weapon of choice. With it, she can transform it into all sorts of different forms, such as giving it multiple blades for "Duplicating" Attack-Based skills, increasing them in size dramatically to overwhelm opponents, creating more of them, etc.

Intelligence: At Least Genius. Haruka is shown to be extremely cunning in both combat and social situations, being able to deceive Shizu into believing she was winning against what was seemingly Haruka’s full power. Easily outsmarted Asuna for the majority of their fight.

Weaknesses: Can rush in without thinking if somebody “disturbs” her quiet environment for too long, Otherwise None Notable

Feats:

  • Easily outmanoeuvred experienced adventurers, such as shizu, who could evade immense and repeated danmaku attacks without trouble.
  • Survived on her own as a lone adventurer for extended periods of time, which is regarded as 'nigh-impossible'.
  • Can easily adapt to and is experienced in multiple different forms of combat, both close-range and long-range, with her transforming scythe, although only the use of a multi-bladed form has been shown so far.
  • Created a huge crater in her final clash with shizu
  • Overwhelmed and Outperformed Asuna for the majority of their fight, though she was defeated after the former broke through their limit.

Rotten Sewage (Veneficaverse) Rotten Sewage's Profile (Fight was part of VeneficaAuthors 7-A/High 7-A Tournament. Speed Was Equalised. Base Haruka was used, and Rotten Sewage was High 7-A. Fight took place in an endless, abandoned city, and both Started 40 Metres away from each other.)
