Golly, Chara! You're absolutely right! But how could you forget the best part? Is it because you STILL don't trust your own BROTHER?!
~ Flowey finally revealing his true nature to everyone
But you just HAD to be the hero. You just HAD to be loved... But, you see, here's the thing... I NEVER cared. You mean NOTHING to me! You're EXPENDABLE! You're GARBAGE! I DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE!
~ Flowey's true feelings toward Frisk
Why? Because it's hilarious. Because it's FUN... And because I know what I can DO with this power... The power to recreate the world...

Summary[]

Flowey is the main antagonist of Inverted Fate, although he initially acted as a deuteragonist to further his goals. After stealing Frisk's soul as Asriel Dreemurr, God of Hyperdeath, during the end of the True Pacifist Route, he accidentally created the alternate timeline in which the story takes place.

Flowey is the only one who remembers the previous timeline, which he uses to his full advantage. Introducing himself to Frisk as a friend, and roping Papyrus into his plans, Flowey aims to capture the human souls yet again for an even greater scheme.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Flowey looks identical to his canon self; a conscious golden flower with six yellow petals, and a light-green stem. Flowey can contort his face to show various expressions which he also uses to make himself look creepy.

"Redesigned" Flowey[]

Absorbing the 6 SOULs caused his appearance to change to "conform to the new timeline", having more detailed stem and petals, and an wider grin that shows off both rows of teeth. Additionally, his eyes are now further apart and vertically wider, and the tips of two vines/roots are seen near his main body.

Asriel Dreemurr[]

Asirel Dreemurr's design borrows elements from his original beta designs. While he did retain the black sclerae, longer fangs, robe and Heart Locket from the previous timeline's God of Hyperdeath form, much of it is now altered to his own liking ("boyband-like" hair, "cooler" horns, and a cape)

Personality[]

It seemed like this pattern would keep going no matter where Asriel went. Even alone, he stood out like a sore thumb, a Boss Monster child in a city of strangers. A future king who could never blend in with his subjects.

Before his death, Asriel was a mischievous, adventurous, energetic child from a loving family, and because of his upbringing, Asriel could be rather naïve and light-headed. Asriel does however have a deep loneliness and firmly wishes to be treated like a normal kid, which is the reason why he got attached to Chara so fast.

It wasn't fair! His parents loved him, and he was grateful for that, but... why did his royal status have to shine on him like some giant spotlight. Why couldn't he just... be a kid?

Why couldn't there be someone, anyone, like him? A little different. Someone just as lost and alone. Someone he could connect with...

Even one good friend would be enough.

After his death, Asriel was resurrected as a souless flower which stripped him of his empathy and slowly drove to his chaotic, ruthless state due to a lack of moral compass to keep him in check, that coupled with the curiosity that stems from his ability to "reshape the world", resulted in his current Flowey personality.

You spend all those years soulless... You get to know the ins and outs of everything and everyone. And YOU try staying attached.

Flowey is a highly intelligent and manipulative individual, whose scheming holds no regard for the safety and well-being of anyone besides himself. He displays a lust for power, and a willingness to go to great lengths in order to achieve his goals. Flowey can display hypocrisy at times. Most notably when he describes Sans as "shady and untrustworthy" to Frisk and even Papyrus, even though he himself acts as such. He is not that good of a friend or ally, as he exploits off of Frisk's dire state after unintentionally resulting in the amalgamation of Undyne and Mettaton in order to get the human SOULs for himself.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: 8-B | At least 7-C, possibly Low 7-B | At least Low 2-C

Key: Flowey | 6 SOULS Absorbed | Asriel Dreemurr

Name: Flowey the Flower, Specimen No. 1, Asriel Dreemurr

Origin: Inverted Fate

Gender: Male

Age: 12-14 upon death as Asriel, mentally late teens as Flowey[note 1][note 2]

Classification: Sentient flower, Soulless being imbued with Determination, Former Prince of the Underground | Same as before, The Underground's Worst Nightmare | Boss Monster, God of Hyperdeath, The Angel

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Small Size (Type 0. Is a flower roughly half the size of Frisk), Limited Acausality (Type 1; Capable of keeping memories of reset events, an example being here,[1] although other factors such as his increase in strength or damage he sustained will be lost. With his "control over the timeline"/Time Manipulation matched, repeated deaths make his grip in the timeline slip away, which can eventually result in him forgetting everything experienced little by little[2]), Non-Physical Interaction, Social Influencing (Despite his friendly facade being long term here, he still shows his manipulativeness. Convinced Papyrus to keep secrets from Sans by appealing to his ego and desire to make everything right.[3] Casted doubt on Sans' intentions to persuade Frisk into running away[4] Fooled Frisk, Papyrus, and Toriel into believing he's harmless[5] to the point that Sans and Chara, who had been warning their partners of Flowey's deviousness, were forced to concede[6]), Supernatural Willpower (All determination users should have an extremely high willpower), Breaking the Fourth Wall (Gets paid to remind people to read the comic during every video's introduction[7]), Magic, Time Manipulation (Has the ability to SAVE into a point in time when particularly determined, and LOAD back in time to the last SAVE they made at will. He can do so after dying or by simply focusing really hard[1]), Soul Manipulation (Can attack one's SOUL with his regular attacks. Destroyed a weakened Asgore's SOUL in the previous timeline[8]), Absorption (Can absorb SOULs of defeated humans and monsters[note 3]), Body Control, Plant Manipulation (Produced vines to help Frisk skip the Ruin puzzles[9][10][11] and navigate Fort Aquarius' outer walls[12]), Underground Mobility (Constantly burrows underground), Camouflage (Shown here[9]), Danmaku, Technology Manipulation (Overloaded the puzzle terminal’s “Anti-Jerry Defences” with his pellets[13]), Longevity, Healing (Could heal Frisk using magical green pellets[note 4]), Immunity to Soul Manipulation (Due to lacking a soul[14]), Resistance to Extreme Cold, Heat Manipulation (Followed Frisk into Snowdin[15] and Hotlands,[16] which reached temperatures high enough to instantly vaporize a styrofoam cup and water) and possibly Poison Manipulation (The CORE seems to be filled with ozone, which Flowey was unaffected by[17])

Same abilities as Flowey to an unfathomably higher scale, now lacking the weakness of conflict with the souls and size differences, in addition to Immortality (Types 1, 3 and 4), Inorganic Physiology (Type 1. Every monster in the game is stated to be made of magic), Shapeshifting (Power equivalent to seven human SOULs grants him true mastery over his form[note 6]), Flight, Reality Warping, Fire Manipulation (Shown here), Afterimage Creation (Asriel can leave rainbow afterimages of himself), Weapon Creation Can create two large sabers of which to attack with), Electricity Manipulation Can summon lighting projectiles), Energy Manipulation (Asriel can charge up and fire a huge energy beam from his hands), Status Effect Inducement, Paralysis Inducement (Passive when using his true power), Regeneration (Low-High, possibly Low-Godly with Determination. Scales from the Amalgamates, which he absorbed into his being), Summoning (Capable of summoning Lost SOULS to aid in battle), Elemental Manipulation (Thanks to having the abilities of almost every monster), Fate Manipulation (Accidentally inverted the Lost Souls' destinies[21]), Breaking the Fourth Wall (Crashed the device that lets the viewer experience the story[14]), Necromancy and Resurrection (Reconstructed Chara's body and brought them back to life[22]), Data Manipulation and Corruption (Type 2; heavily distorted reality to the point it became a greyscale mess[22]), Illusion Manipulation (Made an illusion of Papyrus and Sans to taunt Frisk[23]), Darkness Manipulation (Engulfed the surface in darkness[24]), Body Puppetry (Shown here[25]), Soul Manipulation (Can freely remove the SOUL of someone[25]), Mind Manipulation (Can supposedly alter minds[note 7]), Time Stop (Froze the rest of the world beyond Mt. Ebott and Ebott City in place to avoid dealing with "annoying outside interference"[note 8]), BFR via Portal Creation & Teleportation (Demonstrated here.[23] Sent Frisk to the start of the Ruins to keep them "out of the way"[22] Confirmed to be his go-to move to interlopers trying to interrupt his "game"[note 9][note 10]), and likely many more.

Attack Potency: City Block level (Replicated everything he did in-canon in the previous timeline, including moving an elevator from True Lab to New Home in a matter of seconds, which would yield this much.[26] Killed everyone in the Underground at least once, even Toriel and Undyne the Undying.[27] Claimed that he could kill Asgore before the latter could even uproot him.[28] It should, however, be noted that his lack of empathy makes monsters far more susceptible to his attacks.[note 11] Damaged[29] Deathfish with its whopping DEF value of 255[30]) | At least Town level, possibly Small City level (Has an immense attack value of 999,[14] putting him leagues above everything Frisk encountered, including The Determinator. A single human SOUL is capable of rivaling all the SOULs of the Underground combined, carrying the power of almost all monsters combined individually. Having 6 of them, Flowey must be at least six times more powerful than a single SOUL, adding up his own power[31]) | At least Universe level+ (Was initially stronger than his previous timeline's counterpart, who accidentally tore apart and restructured the previous timeline into the current one,[21] and he only got stronger after absorbing all the human SOULs of Ebott City[25])

Speed: Likely Massively Hypersonic+ (Could dodge a strike from Frisk[note 12]) | At least Massively Hypersonic+, likely higher (Could repeatedly blitz Frisk when not holding back in the previous timeline[18]) | Unknown (Faster than before by an unquantifiable margin), Nigh-Omnipresent at will

Lifting Strength: Unknown | Unknown | Unknown

Striking Strength: Unknown | At least Town level, possibly Small City level | At least Universe level+

Durability: Unknown | At least Town level, possibly Small City level (Flowey a defense value of a whopping 999,[14] putting him significantly beyond even the likes of Box Mettaton and The Determinator. Completely unaffected by any of Frisk's attacks[14]) | At least Universe level+ (The values of his attack and defense are showcased as being equal to each other)

Stamina: Unknown

Range: Several Meters, possibly higher | Several Meters, Unknown with his powers | Extended Melee Range with swords, up to at least Interdimensional with his powers (Created a rift between reality and managed to peer into a number of alternate universes, with Chara even speculating that he might be able to extend his reach beyond a single universe[32])

Standard Equipment: None Notable | 6 SOULS | All the human SOULS of Ebott City and almost every SOUL in the underground.

Intelligence: Gifted. Thanks to all the resets he has done, Flowey has become incredibly clever, being able to manipulate many of the game's characters into doing exactly what he wants. (See his Social Influencing feats)

Weaknesses: Similar to Frisk, whenever a reset occurs, his LOVE and stats drop back down to their base. While extremely difficult, sufficient failure can make a user of Determination give up, though this can result in a Reset much earlier than the last SAVE. Someone with his same Determination and higher determination will result in his ability to SAVE and LOAD being disabled. Flowey still has a very childlike mentality, and can be somewhat immature. | Same as before, The 6 SOULs can revolt against him if they are convinced to do so. | Asriel is still extremely cocky and possesses a childlike mind, playing around with his opponents instead of finishing them.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • 'Friendliness' Pellets: Flowey's signature attack, where he will shoot small pellet projectiles at the opponent either as homing bullets, as moving walls of terror, or a ring of pellets that circle around the enemy.
  • Vines: Flowey has the ability to produce various vines from his body that can do various things, but he usually uses them to solve puzzles or restrain others when he had the 6 human SOULs.
  • DETERMINATION: The source of their power and abilities. The user is empowered by the feeling of determination, allowing it to strengthen their capabilities and use certain new powers. Flowey's current body has less DT than the one in the old timeline since Papyrus was moderate and took his time between injections to give time to study the results. But despite that, Flowey still has huge amount DT, almost rivalling Undyne's.[note 13]
    • SAVE: When particularly determined, the user can "SAVE" the current moment in time, filling a file inside the game with information about their current process, LV, etc. A user may create a SAVE when really wanting to anywhere, finding the yellow flash shown in-game isn't necessary. Someone else with the same use of DETERMINATION and higher determination will result in this ability to SAVE being disabled from Flowey.
    • LOAD: Turns back time to the last SAVE made. This can even be used after dying, which usually results in having one's SOUL shattering into pieces. Another user of DETERMINATION, Flowey, could LOAD after dying despite lacking a SOUL altogether. Someone with the same use of DETERMINATION and higher determination will result in this ability to LOAD being disabled from Flowey.
      • Reset: Turns back time to the beginning of the "game".

  1. Asks: Do you consider Flowey still being a kid or alot older than he was when he was Asriel?
  2. Asks: Random question: How old do you see Asriel as when died in Inverted Fate? I imagine around the same age as Chara, but I don't know.
  3. Asks: Why'd Undyne freak out when she realized Flowey isn't human or monster in that one ask?
  4. Asks: What would have happened if Frisk ran into the Friendliness Pellets instead avoiding them?
  5. Asks: So can Flowey in his current state see everything that's going on? Like, if a random monster in hotland eats a potato, can Flowey see that?
  6. Asks: Why do you think Flowey only reverts to Asriel if he absorbs 7 human souls? Shouldn't one be enough?
  7. Asks: If Asriel can change reality, why doesn't he just alter their (Chara's) minds so they trust him again?
  8. Asks: So here's a question! Did Lilac's new parents get their souls taken as well?
  9. Asks: Let's say a malevolent entity from another world entered the world of IF (during Asriel's return as a god) and decided to kill everyone in the world, as well as destroy it. Would Asriel take action, and would he protect Chara from this entity?
  10. Asks: What would happen if another godlike being entered Asriel's world and started wrecking shop? Would he use his godhax to purge that being, or would he have to fight them?
  11. Asks: Kinda random question, but while we're on about Photoshop Flowey vs Sans, do you think a Flowey vs Undyne could've happened before Frisk fell? I mean, he does imply he's done genocide, saying that he "killed them all". And do you think Flowey pushed Undyne to go Undying? If so, why would you think Flowey doesn't mention about her? (Not asking how the fight goes; Undyne probably'd just wreck Flowey as a flower due to her being the only one strong (stat-wise) enough to put a fight with you)
  12. Asks: So this is an odd question, but... in canon Undertale, you're never given the chance to fight Flowey until the very end of the game, and you're never given the chance to fight the Annoying Dog at all. However, in IF, Flowey and the Annoying Dog both appear in certain fights. If Frisk hypothetically attacked them, what would've happened?
  13. Asks: Wait that doesn’t make sense. If Undyne has more DT then Flowey, who himself had more DT than everyone in the last timeline, shouldn’t she have regained her power three years ago?
  14. Asks: Is it your headcannon that Flowey isn't entirly incapable of feeling love and rather that he just has a hard time doing it now?
  15. Asks: Do you think that in Undertale (and therefore Inverted Fate) there are multiple universes/timelines? And that Asriel now controls all the timelines? In Undertale the existence of other universes are mentioned several times, even Sans mentioned in a dialogue the existence of other Sans.
