Summary[]
Chthonians, sometimes spelled Cthonians, were large burrowing worms hailing from the center of the Earth. Born of some unknown ancient spaceborne species, they survived for centuries, consuming cavern dwellers and rarely splintering to the surface. A chorus of chanting accompanies the worms wherever they go, maddening others but making their arrival known, in an event known as the Heralding. Several Chthonians were known to have risen and attacked Wratholme during its golden age, possibly disturbed from their usual activity by the strange magic rituals performed by the kingdom.
