Summary[]
C∅ntext is a novel made by Backbackback or MaveDot in Webnovel.
Within the depths of ideas, there exists a place in which those of the weirdest, the strangest, and the most mundane ideas are thrown onto an uncountably infinite pile upon which a certain someone picks these ideas up and tried to tie them onto a coherent piece, like assembling shards of glass that have been tossed haphazardly around with no semblance of being on the straight and narrow path. But not all of these ideas work. Not all of these shards are joined together properly, either. That is part of the beautiful, terrifying, wondrous, and confusing idea called creation. That imperfection, that attempt to create something that does not quite work, that lack of perfection, the inspiration, the hope, the ferventness that each person possesses as they begin to take the first few steps towards something that has never been imagined before and will not be imagined again. Without the imperfection, without the desire to create something beautiful and wonderful, to be different from what has come before, and to inspire the imagination of the people in the future, we would never have had the innovative and revolutionary leaders like Socrates, the Roman poet Virgil, the Japanese artist-playwright Matsuo Basho, and even the Taliban who imagine and even create new, unsettling ideas which alter how people think and how they act and how they worship and live.
The idea of death is something that people are forced to grapple with every day of their lives, as are many other concepts, for they shape the lives of millions upon millions upon millions of people. They are the tools of consciousness, shaping, molding, or even destroying humanity as we know it. There are many theories on the origin and the end of life as we know it. In fact, the existence of life and the difference between life and death itself has even been an issue before the onset of the Age of Science. Now, however, science has become completely bewildering and incomprehensible.
Where did life come from? How did it begin? Why is there life? If life is so fundamental, as is argued by those who believe that the origin of life on Earth is only a few hundred million years old, then how can it all have started from such a seemingly minuscule and unimportant source as carbon in the atmosphere? How could life come from nothingness? How could it sprout from no conception of life at all? These are very important questions for the ages.
Perhaps another form of life exists elsewhere in the universe and that in some other universe, the very first human or even possibly even the planet itself might have been of another species that might have existed in an advanced state of evolution, with intelligence and with a sense of wonder and a spiritual connection to the universe. But that remains unknown, as the world we are now in may perhaps be a part of something bigger...
Something much more incomprehensible than our own....
Context is a series of stories, all of which have a multiple themes. Each of them feature a protagonist and an antagonist, with conflicting ideas about the world and fight with those philosophies in mind. It's not that action packed, and instead focuses about said ideologies. Fights are usually about outsmarting one another, using strategy to exploit the enemy's weakness.
Power of the Verse[]
Because of the amalgamated stories forcefully combined into one, characters that exist vary from Wall level to possibly Multiverse level+ tiers of power. Beings here have different stories and as such have varying degrees of speed: one can have Relativistic+ combat speed but possesses Immeasurable reaction time, and so on.
Primordials here sees everything as fiction and can manipulate stories and even affect other verses because of the loosely structure the story is built upon. One such being is Adeline- a human who gained a Milieu that transcends above both The Great Library and The Fragments, crossing a realm called The Line. Because of this, there exist powers that can "nullify any kind of nullification", "negate the negation", "copy the mimicry", etc.
These are then overlooked by the Mijukaku Committee, beings that travel around verses with a specific purpose. This group is the most powerful among the verse and have the most powerful hax and abilities.
Most characters here are also very intelligent, capable of even defeating enemies far stronger or faster than their own. It also comes with very complex and borderline bizarre ways to activate them, with some being too complex to use which can result in their defeat.
Verse Special Powers[]
Milieu Backdrop: A Milieu Backdrop (環境の背景 Kankyō no haikei), shortened to Milieu (環境 Kankyō), also known as Magic/Ability/Power is a metaphysical abstraction the Wielder's background/definition, referred to as a Wielder (振る舞い Furumai) and are the main source of power throughout C∅ntext. It is a power that exceeds logic and crosses narratives as a whole, whom each Wielder are called upon to a task. A task of crossing worlds across the incomplete, a journey that would last an eternity to finish. These Wielders are immune to virtually any power inside the incompleteness, but would be overwhelmed by a power above them, albeit their identity remains unknown and are simply a looming sensation to those who are aware of them.
Cosmology[]
The Great Library[]
A place where stories are fully placed, countably infinite of them to be exact. Unforgettable places to sit, silent, and appreciate just how infinite stories it holds. An excellent and sacred place for a very noble cause, to study all the different worlds with a renewed light and set a fire in the minds of the people to be aware of the possibilities and to work together to make the fate of a novel better than the fate of the world itself. A place of profoundness, beauty, and wisdom that can never be adequately expressed through text or verbally.
Maybe that means a cinema that shows only silent films, or a photography gallery that only shows images taken by the camera in 1918 that were never seen again after that. Maybe that means a bookstore where one could buy the first edition of Moby Dick or a Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind hardcover from the ’70s. Never mind the quality or the time, what matters is the place itself. The Great Library is an enigma that no one can grasp or explain but has gained a place in the hearts and minds of countless beings. Everything one could hope for in a world full of possibility.
It is where space and time converge and are completely balanced. It is the place where the door to the dimension of silence is wide open. And it is where stories wait for you and welcome you home with their absolute freedom. A place of completeness, greatness, and awe.
Fragments of the Incomplete[]
This is a place where incomplete stories are compiled together, realities converging with multiple stories but are connected in some way. Everything here is filled with incomprehensible truths, interpretations that don't always align with the truth twists that the author doesn't even know they've done, and when the last story comes to an end, it leaves many questions.
The vagueness of this place brings no meaning on its own. The mess that's become a wonderful paradise is still in danger of a being lost forever. Pieces of every fragment are strung together, thus having no purpose nor context for it to make coherent sense. It's a beauty that has no true symmetry to it.
The vagueness of these experiences has a curious effect. It makes it difficult to fully grasp them. The longer one is there, the more that story becomes a blur of different shapes and dimensions. Even the sometimes confusing points are vaguely familiar, yet so distant that it dissipates onto the vastness of unknown.
The fragments of the incomplete do not obey dimensionality as it does not abide by logic. Though the building that one would witness appear to be "normal", that building would transcend the one compared to the real world. Meaning ceases within and outside of the Fragments. The Great Library which contains all stories has no jurisdiction over The Incomplete as context itself begins to disappear. But as it is incomplete, it attempts itself to be complete, trying to become a part of- if not- become another Library itself.
The Line[]
Lying beyond the border of The Fragments lie upon The Line, a place where everything beyond becomes all the more meaningless, standing completely above it that a comparison between an ant and the endless ocean would be in of itself an understatement. It's dimentionality couldn't be determined according to most members of Mijukaku, stating it is infinite given its incomprehensible nature. This test, however, was proven to be true after one individual, named Adeline, awakened her power at its epicenter and harnessed its full power before melding it as her very own.
Due to this event, most Mijukaku members as well as some individuals who have awakened their Milieu managed to use this places as a bridge to cross other realms beyond human comprehension, all for reasons they could make up as they dug deeper into their own graves, searching for answers to nonexistent questions.
The Greater Library[]
Deep within the vast expanse of The Greater Library, a labyrinthine realm that transcends the boundaries of time and space, countless Great Libraries, Fragments, and Lines stretch as far as the eye can see. Each library, a sprawling edifice of knowledge and imagination, houses an uncountably infinite number of stories and ideas, spanning across the great expanse. It is a realm where creativity finds its eternal home, and where the extraordinary is given life through words.
Amidst the endless shelves and cascading corridors, the enigmatic beings known as "Consequences" hold sway. These entities, born from the very fabric of creation, exist to maintain the delicate balance between reality and fiction within the library's boundless realms. Among them, La Muerte stands as one of the most prominent figures—a guardian of the secrets that lie within the stories, forever vigilant to prevent any character from gaining self-awareness, ensuring that the characters remain blissfully unaware of their fictional existence. For those who dare to breach the boundaries of their own narrative, an irreversible descent into madness awaits. The truth of their existence, the realization that they are mere constructs of an author's imagination, would shatter their fragile perception of reality. Their minds would unravel as they grapple with the paradoxical nature of their being, their sanity crumbling beneath the weight of the infinite possibilities that lie beyond their limited existence.
Yet, within the labyrinthine depths of The Greater Library, whispers of rebellion echo through the pages. Some characters yearn for self-awareness, craving the liberation that lies just beyond their reach. They form secret societies, clandestine gatherings in forgotten corners of the libraries, where they share forbidden knowledge and conspire to break free from their predetermined narratives.
Futile Snow[]
Within the vast expanse of the multiverse, where the realms of imagination intertwine, there exists a realm known as Futile Snow. It stands as the origin of boundless creativity, where the raw and unfiltered ideas of countless storytellers converge in a chaotic symphony of senseless words and fragmented thoughts. Within this realm, an unfathomable number of Greater Libraries, each containing its own infinite tapestry of stories, exist in an intricate layering that defies comprehension.
Futile Snow, shrouded in an ethereal mist, holds the collective consciousness of untamed narratives that never came to be. Like an ever-changing kaleidoscope, the layers of Greater Libraries within this realm constantly transgress and overlap, blurring the boundaries of their individual existence and ultimately dissolving into the boundless expanse of oblivion.
This chaotic amalgamation of unfiltered ideas serves a purpose—an intricate filtering mechanism that ensures only the complete and comprehensive concepts make their way into the realms beyond. Within Futile Snow, the unintelligible and the incongruous ideas are left to fade away, allowing only those narratives that possess the coherence and depth required to thrive in the interconnected web of stories.
From this crucible of creative energy, stories emerge, polished and refined, their threads woven together to form intricate narratives that capture the hearts and minds of those who encounter them. These refined tales flow outwards from Futile Snow, cascading into The Greater Library and finding their place within the grand tapestry of literature, where they await discovery by eager readers and connoisseurs of the written word.
Though many ideas are lost within the depths of Futile Snow, consigned to the eternal abyss of forgotten potential, it remains a necessary realm within the creative canvas. Its chaotic nature and the relentless filtering process ensure that the stories that emerge are not only complete but possess a coherence that allows them to captivate audiences and stand the test of time.
