Blake Belladonna Emblem All my life, I fought for what I thought was right. I had a partner named Adam. More of a mentor to me and Bann, actually. He always assured me that what we were doing would make the world a better place but, of course, his idea of a perfect future turned out to be not perfect for everyone. Me and my Brother joined the Academy because I knew Huntsmen and Huntresses were regarded as the noblest warriors in the world, always fighting for good, but I never really thought past that. When I leave the Academy, what will I—? How can I undo so many years of hate?
~ Blake Belladonna

Blake Volume 4 Render.octet-stream
Blake Belladonna Emblem Humans didn't do this. We did this. Faunus. We did this to ourselves. We're just as capable of hate and violence as the humans but I don't think any of us would jump at the chance to point that out. So why are we letting Adam do it for us? By doing nothing and staying silent, we let others speak and act in our place. And if we're not proud of the choices they make, then we have no one to blame but ourselves!
~ Blake, to the Faunus of Menagerie

Blake Volume 7 Amity Arena
Blake Belladonna Emblem A simple life wouldn’t be my life! My family, my friends, my culture. I belong to them, just as much as they belong to me. To give that all away wouldn’t be simplicity, it would be betrayal. I am a Huntress!
~ Blake, talking to an illusion

Summary[]

Blake Belladonna is a young woman with long black hair, amber-colored eyes and a black ribbon resembling animal ears on her head, she wields the Gambol Shroud, a katana with a sharpened sheath that has a pistol in the hilt attached to a long ribbon which she uses in the style of kusarigama. In battle, her Semblance allows her to create a shadow of herself, an empty copy that distracts or takes hits from enemies for her while she moves in a different direction. Blake has a quiet nature and a love for books. She is a Faunus (a humanoid race with animal-like features) and a former member of the White Fang, a social rights advocacy group turned extremist paramilitary organization alongside her step-brother Bann Belladonna. However, she and Bann left in disgust of their violence and joined Beacon Academy to become a huntsman and a Huntress. Blake kept her Faunus identity a secret by concealing her cat ears because she felt that she was not ready for the attention it would give her if the secret got out and doesn't want to face the discrimination other Faunus receive from humanity.

She was blasted into the void under the Central Location by Cinder Fall, while trying to save Ruby from the same fate, later finding herself in the Ever After. within the Ever After, she enters a romantic relationship with Yang, after confessing her feelings to her. laster she and her friends return to Remnant, where they arrive in the Kingdom of Vacuo to stop Salem and her remaining allies

Powers and Abilities:

Resistance to

  • Extreme Heat and Cold (Aura protects the user from sub-zero temperatures, allowing them to be encased in ice without being cold, walk through a blizzard in casual clothing[3], and traverse the kingdom of Atlas, which resides in Remnant's North Pole,[4] without wearing any protective gear, as well as extreme heat up to and including the heat of flames,[5], being blasted with steam[6] being struck by lighting for an extended period of time,[7][8][9] and being submerged in lava without being burned[10])
  • Ice Manipulation (Ki can be used to break free after being frozen in ice)
  • Transmutation (Aura has been shown multiple times to save others from getting turned into candy by Buu)
  • Possession (A trained Aura can protect someone from a Nightmare grimm taking over their body more easier than a weak, untrained one)
  • Power Absorption (For Cinder to absorb a Maiden's power using the Beetle, she had to break their Aura shield, meaning Aura protects from baseline power absorption)
  • Electricity Manipulation (Aura can protect from getting struck by lightning from lightning dust attacks and magic attacks, although it still makes them feel the pain of it)

Limited Resistance to:

  • Soul Manipulation (People with Aura can survive with chunks of their souls missing, abilet it weakens them[11]. Additionally, attempting to transfer Aura to the Grimm instead causes them to attempt to drain it from the user. Someone had a good chunk of his soul absorbed by a grimm and lived[12].)

All previous plus Enhanced

  • Duplication (Over time, Blake's shadow clones have been shown to develop from mere afterimages into fully convincing decoys able to remain in effect for longer periods. A clone is even able to exert force after being created, sending the real Blake high into the air[13]. Blake disappears after creating a clone, reappearing a short distance away after Ilia Amitola stabs the clone[14]. This happens again when she replaced herself with a clone at last moment, to avoid being stabbed by Adam[15]. It is unknown if this development results in her being propelled at such a high speed that it is harder to see her or if she can truly teleport under certain circumstances. Her Semblance now produces solid copies, allowing her to either use them as decoys or fight together)
  • Social Influencing (Blake inspired the Faunus in Menagerie to stand against Adam Taurus by her speech[16]. Blake and Yang telling the truth to Robyn got her to be convinced to stop taking supplies for Amity[17]. Cheered up Ruby until The Hound ruined Ruby's mental state again[18]. Blake temporarily took up the leadership role due to Ruby's mental state in the Ever After[19])

Standard Equipment:

  • Gambol Shroud: Blake's weapon is the Gambol Shroud, a set of two swords consisting of a katana, used as a primary sword, and a large cleaver, which is used as a sheathe. The essence of the two weapon components is that they fit together as one, but come apart to be two, so that they are compact for easier carrying. The katana also has a compact, striker fired pistol built into its hilt, allowing it to be used as a ranged weapon or for the recoil to be used to swing or anchor the blade. When in pistol form, Blake wraps a black ribbon tied to her right arm around Gambol Shroud's trigger, allowing her to freely swing it around in a way similar to a kusarigama. In this form, her fighting style is somewhat similar to that of Ruby Rose, as both girls use the recoil from the firearm to increase the velocity of their weapon. The ribbon has been shown to be very strong, durable and elastic, as it has been reliably used as both a slingshot and a grappling hook.
    • Dust Abilities: Specialized Dust cartridges can be inserted into Gambol Shroud to modify the effects of her bullets, giving them elemental properties based on the type of Dust being used. This Dust can also alter Blake's Semblance, changing her Shadows into more than just mere afterimages, in a manner not dissimilar to Weiss Schnee's weapon, Myrtenaster. The form her Shadows take on depends on the element of Blake's choosing, significantly increasing her Semblance's tactical applications.
      • Fire Dust: Changes Blake's Shadow into a fiery clone that detonates violently, damaging enemies.
      • Earth Dust: Changes Blake's Shadow into a stone statue, which can be used as cover and defense from attacks.
      • Ice Dust: Changes Blake's Shadow into an ice sculpture, which with correct timing can trap enemy weapons inside.
      • Violet Dust: Changes Blake's Shadow into a dark haze, lingering longer than her normal clones and blocking people's vision.
      • Electric Dust: Blake's Shadow has an electric effect, shocking anything that hits it.
    • Shadow Strike: Blake dashes at the enemy, slashing them and creating clones that deal follow up slashes, up to five times in a row.
    • Blade Beam: Blake launches a horizontal beam from her sword that passes through and stuns enemies. She can fire up to three of these beams from her sword simultaneously.

  • Chocolate Bar: A milk-chocolate treat that slightly restores health.
    • Yakisoba: A tasty stir-fried noodle dish that greatly restores health.
  • Energy Boost Small: A small boost of energy that restores half of the user's Aura.
    • Energy Boost Large: A large boost of energy that fully restores the user's Aura.
  • Wonder Potion Small: A small potion that slightly restores health and restores half of the user's Aura.
    • Wonder Potion Large: A large potion that greatly restores health and fully restores the user's Aura.
  • Revive Ring: A ring that automatically restores the user and their allies to their full health and aura when brought to the brink of defeat.

Intelligence: Gifted in general, Genius Combatant (Having been a member of the White Fang at a young age, Blake is very skilled in multiple forms of combat, mostly using Gambol Shroud in slashing through hordes of enemies with startling speed and deflecting incoming gunfire with the sword and sheath alone. She is also well adept in using her weapon as a conduit for her Aura: generating shockwaves with her swings to augment her blows. She can use her weapon in gun and sickle mode to their fullest effect in tandem with her combat skills against multiple Grimm and enemies, as well as her Semblance to trick her opponents, like she did against Roman Torchwick by combining her Semblance with multiple Dust ammunition and pinned him down. Blake is a master of prodigal skill when it comes to combat, with years of experience fighting against powerful opponents with a plethora of abilities. Her skill when it comes to combat and the usage of ki allows her to replicate other ki-based techniques after seeing them once. She can fight alongside and train with her step-brother; Bann Belladonna, who knows all martial arts like Grandpa Gohan in Dragon Ball did

Due to her former status as a White Fang member, she is skilled in espionage and trickery, which she has used on various missions. She also has extensive book knowledge from her reading and studying. After the Fall of Beacon, Blake has developed leadership skills, inspiring the Faunus in Menagerie to stand against Adam Taurus)

Weaknesses: Continual use of her Aura will cause it to decay to the point where she can be left open to more significant damage. Aura's durability is cumulative; it will deplete with each attack she takes and can be brought down by characters of similar strength. Semblances drain Aura by a small amount and without them they cannot be used until it is recharged. Constant exposure to extreme temperature can drain the user's Aura. Although Blake does not appear to have many physical weaknesses, her Gambol Shroud does in its kusarigama form. If she is using it to grapple and leap around, one can knock it out of its intentional trajectory to make her lose momentum. One can even cut its ribbon and force Blake to fall whilst she is swinging however this isn't a weakness after she learned how to fly. Some of her Dust clones through her Semblance can also be used against her, as seen when she was knocked aside by her own Ice Dust clone in a fight against a Cenitaur.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

Notable Attacks and Techniques:

The fighting power and life force of a martial artist, a tangible energy derived from the user's vigor, courage, and mind. It can be used in a number of ways, such as to surpass the limits of one's body to greatly increase in strength, and it can be fired as blasts of energy or used to create defensive barriers. Ki acts as the source of Blake's incredible power and abilities. Blake's prodigal skill in combat and the use of ki allows her to replicate the ki techniques of others after seeing them only once.

  • Kamehamehaかめはめ: Bann's famous signature technique, which she learned after Bann taught her the technique he made after seeing Penny's laser. As her signature technique, it is something that Blake has used on many occasions, and she has copied a number of variations over the course of her fighting experience, such as firing it from her feet, using it to propel herself into the air, and bending it mid-flight to catch opponents by surprise.
  • Kiai気合きあ: The ability to project an invisible burst of force with ki, which Blake can perform with her hands and even with a glare.
  • Chain Lash: Blake unleashes a whip-like chain that extends and wraps around a target, binding them in place.
  • Cleaving Whirlwind: Blake performs a powerful, spinning attack using her cleaver, generating a gust of wind that can send opponents flying.
  • Blade Burst: Blake hurls a barrage of sword slashes at her opponent from a distance.
  • Pistol Shot: Blake fire's a ki-infused bullet from her pistol at her enemy, aiming for vital spots.
  • Sickle Swipe: Blake swiftly swings her sickle, unleashing a slice of ki energy at an opponent
  • Shadow Swipe: Blake swipes her scythe, releasing a wave of shadowy energy that damages nearby opponents.
  • Dark Vortex: Blake spins her scythe rapidly, creating a twisting vortex of shadows that sucks in and damages enemies.
  • Void Blast: Blake launches a powerful ki blast infused with shadows that deals significant damage.
  • Shadow Blitz: Blake rushes toward the target, slashing rapidly with her cleaver and leaving shadowy afterimages.

  • Shadow: Blake's Semblance allows her to create Shadow-clones. These clones can be used by Blake to either distract, shield, or hide herself from the enemy for a brief amount of time. These copies are not just illusions and have some substance to them, as Blake has demonstrated the ability to jump off of them and use them to exert force on herself as a means of reaching greater heights. It is unknown exactly how long a shadow copy can appear for or how far away from Blake they can exist. So far, they have only appeared in Blake's immediate area, normally right next to her.
    • Shadow+: Thanks to the probability-manipulating Semblance of Mikado Lem, Blake's Semblance evolved further, allowing her to create up to two full, solid, physical copies of herself capable of fighting alongside her. Creating two clones at once does not expend any more Aura than a normal clone previously required.
