“ | Time and time again the Wasteland gives you the easier path and you refuse to take it. You could have just given EC-1101 over. You could have not cared about 99. You could have just left me to die. Or the Crusaders. Or Glory. You take the hard road no matter how damn much it hurts you, and I can only watch in awe that you keep walking it. And every time I think you’re going to do what’s wrong and easy, you surprise me. I couldn’t do it. I would have cut a deal the second I was alone outside 99. But you’re sticking it out, trying to find out what makes the damned thing so important. |

Blackjack and Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons created by Somber
Blackjack is the Protagonist of Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons, is a Major supporting character in Fallout Equestria: Speak, and is a Minor but important backstory character in Fallout Equestria: Homelands. She is originally a unicorn security mare, hailing from Stable 99 of the 100 underground Stables/Fallout Shelters spread throughout the equestrian wasteland. She is forced to leave her home when a group of raiders attack it in search of extremely valuable data.
Once upon a time in the magical land of Equestria, war was about to reach its fallout induced end. In the midst of this apocalyptic conclusion, a genetically encrypted program was sent out from Canterlot. Within it was a digital skeleton key to all of Equestrias top secret, high priority projects. The program passed from multiple servers, then to stable to stable. Eventually as the stables locked themselves down, the program would become lost to time. Forever trapped within the confines of one particular stable, Stable 99.
200 years on, life in Stable 99 had drastically deteriorated. Males were viewed to be nothing more than breeding equipment for the females who would inherit their mothers position in the stable, even the position of Leader, The Overmare. Animosity towards this system had recently reached an all time high when it was rumored the recently appointed Overmare, a young filly, secretly killed her own mother to usurp control of the stable. Many felt that a power shuffle was brewing, and that Stable 99 would not come to last.
Enter Blackjack, Birth name Go Fish, a teenaged unicorn security mare predestined to follow in her moms hoofsteps as the head of Stable Security, whilst having little talent for the position. Indeed Blackjack utterly failed at every basic spell that was required of the position, only being able to cast basic Telekinesis. Without question, Blackjack loathed the day she'd be forced to follow her mom's hoofsteps, a pony that had always been a shining example to her. In stark contrast to her daughter, Blackjack's mom was one of the most well respected ponies in the stable for her ability to micromanage her detail, going so far as to have some even wishing she'd head an insurrection. It was this reputation that compounded Blackjack's feeling of inadequacy, and unimportance, that would come to dictate Blackjack's relative worldview and what her place would be in it.
During one fateful overnight shift, Blackjack is tasked with the duty of looking for a runaway male due to be put down. After saving "P-21" from her abusive off duty security peers, Blackjack discovers a recording of the young Overmare. The new Overmare had secretly been in contact with above ground members of "Stable Tec", the ones who created the stable series of fallout shelters. The ponies of "Stable Tec" requested that The Overmare find, and have a file that was buried there ready for them, as they were enroute to open the stable's doors. With Stable Tec's impending arrival The Overmare decided this to be the best time to gun down anyone who would potentially oppose or demean her status, starting with the head of security.
Before Blackjack could warn her mom, she encounters a wild blood soaked pony, one who she had never seen before in all of 99. The yells of ponies filled the halls of the stable as violent ponies flooded in. It became apparent that the stable was under siege, and that these ponies were not Stable Tec. Blackjack eventually finds her mom, and hugs her, telling her of the Overmare's failed power grab scheme. In a desperate attempt to save her home, Blackjack, with the help of P-21, saves the coveted file to her Pipbuck, the sole remaining copy of the file, before leaving her home. Diverting the raiders attention as she entered the hell scape above.
Appearance[]
Blackjack is a white unicorn pony, sporting a red and black mane motif, serving as a compliment to her playing card theme.
In this form she sports her standard stable security barding. Designed to allow maneuverability while focusing protection on her front half. In addition she also sports a Pipbuck. a detachable PDA device that can assist her in combat.
Personality[]
Like her appearance Blackjack as an individual changes very drastically throughout the events of Project Horizons. At her core, she is a jovial, peace loving, drunkard on the outside however this is only to mask the great pains she constantly feels within. Blackjack abhors the lawless conditions and mentalities associated with The Wasteland and will go out of her way to enforce whatever she can define as peace.
As with Littlepip when she first left the stable Blackjack initially had an extremely sheltered and limited world view. Being almost completely unable to comprehend what would drive ponies to madness. Her own always do better mentality caused her early on to feel immense pressure. this pressure compounded with immense feelings of regret in regards to innocents and friends she got killed, or had to kill, often lead Blackjack to thoughts and even acts of attempted suicide. However, through the help of her friends, and their reassurance that she was important and was making a positive impact on the world she learned and realized that she had and could persevere more than any other pony. With her past in mind she pushes forward with the faith of others and her history to remind her to never give up, to always push to do better and be better.

Via Trottenheimers Folly: Durability Negation, Non-Physical Interaction, Soul Destruction, Radiation Manipulation, and Power Nullification (Star Metal can interact with and destroy souls, souls cannot pass through the substance. Project Horizons' version of Discord was unable to use his powers to stop Star Metal from harming, imprisoning, and absorbing him. Despite likely being stronger than his FiM counterpart.), Folly's Ammo is Resistant to: Power Nullification, and Reality Warping (Discord refused to attempt warping Star Metal in any capacity and its implied to have been beyond his abilities.)
Attack Potency: Building Level (Scaling to Littlepip, While unarmed She Managed to mutilate two Enclave soldiers to a degree they were only recognizable by their torsos.) Building Level with most weapons (Can harm her and others like her.), Multiverse Level+ with Trottenheimers Folly (The beam that Trottenheimers Folly fires is created from the chain reaction induced breakdown of two elemental structures, one of which, is Star Metal. Star Metal was used to imprison, trap, and torture Project Horizons' version of Discord, who is aware of and should be much stronger than his Friendship is Magic counterpart.)
Speed: Subsonic movement and reaction speeds (Should be comparable to this canon FiM feat. Dodged a missile.). Massively Hypersonic Perception and Reaction speeds when using S.A.T.S. (Should be comparable to her Book 2 form). Supersonic to Supersonic+ attack speed with firearms.
Lifting Strength: Superhuman, Human Level with Telekinesis
Striking Strength: Building Class, Building Class with most weapons, Universe Class with Trottenheimers Folly
Durability: Building Level
Stamina: High
Range: Melee Range unarmed, Several Meters with most weapons, Kilometers when using Trottenheimers Folly
- Pipbuck: A Inventory Management, Health Monitoring, PDA System Fused to the bone of her front right hoof, the device can track enemies up to a kilometer away, manage Medical Supplies, help her hack into other devices and do the following with pre-automated spells:
- S.A.T.S.: S.A.T.S., short for Stable-Tec Arcane Targeting Spell, is a targeting spell that slows the users perception of time to a crawl and allows them to more accurately deal with targets. Once activated the spell presents users with a HUD of the chances of their attack hitting their target. Once released all attacks are carried out automatically.
- E.F.S.: E.F.S., short for Eyes Forward Sparkle, is a sensory spell that when activated gives the user an indication of lifeforms surrounding them, making several assertions and determining whether or not they are a threat to the user.
- EC-1101: Program embedded into her Pipbuck that gives her access to highly powerful pre apocalypse weaponry. A spirit named The Dealer is embedded into the program, he can help Blackjack with advice on how to deal with certain situations.
- Healing Potion: Provides Low-Low Regeneration if consumed
- Combat Shotgun: Shotgun, a running gag in the story is how Blackjack loves to break these.
- Security Baton
- Grenade Launcher
- Dragon Claw: A Dragon Claw the size of a pony head with surprisingly good anti armament abilities.
- Security Armor: Upgraded Stable Security Barding that covers her front.
- Trottenheimer's Folly: Shoots localized Star Metal/Moonstone combustions. Generally considered to be the most powerful weapon on the planet. Genetically locked so that only direct blood relatives of the Mane 6 can use it or its ammunition. Folly's ammunition casings are highly irradiated to the point where simply loading and priming the weapon for fire can induce life threatening conditions. The chain reaction the weapon causes upon being fired requires that it encase its chamber in a forcefield powered by the chain reaction, as no chamber could withstand the energies released. This user encompassing forcefield also exposes the user to high levels of localized radiation as the weapons original designer intended to kill himself upon using the weapon.
Notable Abilities/Techniques:
- Telekinesis: Blackjack can use the ever basic telekinesis spell to lift small objects like firearms or other weapons.
- Energy Projection: Blackjack has the ability to fire "Telekinetic Rounds". Pockets of air she has encased in a layer of Telekinesis that she can fire like a bullet.
- Passive Fate Manipulation: It is revealed in the final section of the story that Blackjack has always been able to manipulate fate to her favor passively, given she can meet certain requirements to trigger an ability. The ability was first theorized by Cognitum, and several other characters of seemingly higher origin (Discord, The Stars, and The Dealer), have all respectively given credence to the ability's existence. In it Blackjack can alter her fate to "win" contests against others at the cost of losing something of high personal value. The conditions for reaching this state are extremely vague as it was able to be triggered for the first time to help Blackjack avoid trouble in killing someone who beat her in a benign card game. Full extent of the ability surpasses the comprehension of the universe governing Star Spirits, beings who are capable of seeing into an infinite number of timelines.. The ability is subtly displayed and referenced on Blackjack's cutie mark, an Ace and Queen of Spades. According to The Dealer (Himself a ethereal cosmic being who feeds on suffering.) and Cognitum Blackjack may always win in some extreme fashion if she can pay a heavy cost and suffer in return. Throughout the events of Project Horizons the variation of what can be defined as obtainable has varied drastically, be it Blackjack offering pieces of her own flesh and blood, the lives of those close to her, ponies that would be painful to lose, or more meta concepts and ideas. Blackjack clinically dies 3 or 4 times throughout Project Horizons yet even in death the ability has allowed her to cheat her back to life for a win. The ability however is more inclined to keep Blackjack in a perpetually tortured state, is situation dependent, and will not full take effect if Blackjack is unable to ante up something to trigger the ability, be it lacking a more vested interest in the conflict in question.
Intelligence: Average, by her own admission, Blackjack is not the smartest and will often let her feelings be the basis for most of her decision making. She is aware of this however and has used her fame of having "The Biggest Heart in the Wasteland" to get the jump on her enemies. When it comes to decision making Blackjack doesn't let pacifist nature stop her from making dirty, cold hearted decisions. Through this is often at the expense of her ever worsening mental health.
Weaknesses: Loathes killing to a fault this early on Holds an extreme amount of regret for her past actions, and is easy to manipulate emotionally. Taking excess drugs can overexert her body and kill her. Can be very predictable, Pipbuck is vulnerable to EMPs, E.F.S. does not inform its users what kind of life it finds and has trouble with elevation. Blackjack's fate manipulation requires her to "ante up" something of extremely high value to her personally. Trottenheimers Folly imbues its user with cancer-inducing levels of radiation when fired. Blackjack at this point in the story is completely unaware of how strong Trottenheimers Folly is. Use of Trottenheimer's Folly completely restricts her movement.“ | We survive in the Wasteland through doing. Action. If we think, we drown. We grasp for meaning in vain. Why was I alive? EC-1101? No. Helping a Wasteland determined to sink and die in poison and hate? Not if I were honest with myself. Glory? Goddesses, let it be for Glory. Please. | „ |

Fallout Equestria created by Kkat
Blackjack and Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons created by Somber
The bastard that drove her from her stable lay dead before Blackjack. The rage fueled monster who set everything into motion and wrecked her life was now a lifeless corpse. It was all seemingly over. But as she rallied her party back together, something still ever so tore at her.
EC-1101, for what reason would this Deus, raid a Stable and slay the lives of innocents for. What secrets did this piece of technology hold that drove this insanity. To find out, she needed answers.
The death of Deus sent a message all throughout The Wasteland. Security didn't mess around and not even the highest bounty would be worth any small timer going toe to toe with Blackjack. No matter how irradiated or dangerous things might get, Blackjack had a goal in mind, to follow EC-1101 to whatever horrors it might take her.
Appearance[]
Blackjack is a white unicorn pony, sporting a red and black mane motif, serving as a compliment to her playing card theme.
While she maintains a lot of her design cues from her previous form, the toll that her time in the wasteland has had on her by this point is clear. Her sclera have since irradiated to such a degree that they emit a literal orange glow. Further on into this section of the story Blackjack would endure far more horrifying mutations, such her consistency being reduced to Jell-O and pieces of her face falling apart.
Learning from her previous encounters, Blackjack has since upgraded herself with full body security barding. Providing ample protection to most notable joints or points of interest.
