I’m starting to wonder: am I still Blackjack? Sure. My cutie mark is the same queen and ace. I have the same security barding, modified and very patched up though it is. I’m still not the smartest pony and I have a terrifying habit of stringing together half-baked ideas on the fly and calling them a plan. I’m still as mule-headed as ever; that will never change. But since I’ve left the stable, I’ve killed ponies. I did that before, too, only I painted it with colorful euphemisms like ‘taking out of service’ and ‘defending myself to their death’. Now, I just killed, plain and simple, with shotgun and carbine and fire axe and my bare hooves if I needed to. I was also more concerned with survival. In Stable 99, everypony knew that the stable was one hard sneeze from failure. Now I had ponies that would kill me for bottlecaps. Heck, even the very land itself would kill me. There was already a time bomb inside me that might finish me, or maybe mutate me and then kill me.

Once upon a time in the magical land of Equestria, war was about to reach it fallout induced end. Before the world truly came to an end, a digital encrypted program was sent out from Canterlot. Passing from multiple servers ending up in a stable before being locked away. That Stable was Stable 99.

Life in Stable 99 was always to follow an order, males were viewed to be nothing breeding equipment for the females who would follow their mothers footsteps and role. To keep the Stable going the deceased were thrown into a recycler, recycled into food for the living, as both populations were kept in a state of precise control. However in the present day, animosity was brewing. Many viewed the recently inherited Overmare, to be inefficient at her job. That she was not fit for the job, and that she acted more like a child than a leader.

Blackjack Birth name Go Fish was always considered the runt of the litter compared to her peers. Peers who viewed her unable to follow in her mothers footsteps as head of Security. Not without cause either, she couldn't even break out of cuffs, let alone doing anything but Telekinesis.

One night, she takes up the duty of looking for a runaway male due to be put down. After saving "P-21" from her peers she discovers a recording of the young Overmare secretly interacting with "Stable Tec". The ponies of Stable Tec asked that she find, and have the file that was buried there ready for them when they arrived. The Overmare decided this to be the best time to gun down anyone who would oppose her. Before she could find her mom, she encounters a rabid pony she had never seen before, the stable was under attack. Blackjack eventually finds her mom and with the help of P-21 saves the encrypted file to her pipbuck and leads the raiders out of the stable.

Appearance

Blackjacks Appearance changes wildly throughout Project Horizons due to various augmentations or other similar circumstances. She is distinctly identifiable by her pale white coat, red and black mane, her comically "compact" horn, and her cutie mark, an Ace and Queen of Spades.

Later in the story she receives several cybernetic augmentations that replace vital organs and lost limbs, eventually culminating in only a small part of her muzzle and mane being visibly organic while adopting large metallic wings. Before going back to her old self mostly when she had her body stolen and her soul put in a blank, which adapted the appearance of her original body pre augmentation.

Finally she returned back to her original body with Lunas soul in tow, her cybernetics became almost seemingly organic. Notably she adopted numerous traits of Princess Luna, most notably her crown, realistic wings, and wearing her insignia as a chest piece.

Personality

Like her appearance Blackjack as a individual changes very drastically throughout the events of Project Horizons. At her core, she is a jovial, peace loving, drunkard on the outside however this is only to mask the great pains she constantly feels within. Blackjack abhors the lawless conditions and mentalities associated with The Wasteland and will go out of her way to enforce whatever she can define as peace.

As with Littlepip when she first left the stable Blackjack initially had an extremely sheltered and limited world view. Being almost completely unable to comprehend what would drive ponies to madness. Her own always do better mentality caused her early on to feel immense pressure. this pressure compounded with immense feelings of regret in regards to innocents and friends she got killed, or had to kill, often lead Blackjack to thoughts and even acts of attempted suicide. However, through the help of her friends, and their reassurance that she was important and was making a positive impact on the world she learned and realize that she had and could persevere more than any other pony. With her past in mind she pushes forward with the faith of others and her history to remind her to never give up, to always push to do better and be better.

Notable Abilities:

  • Passive Fate Manipulation: It is revealed in this section of the story that Blackjack has always been able to manipulate fate to her favor unconsciously given she can meet certain requirements. The ability was first theorized by the Super AI Cognitium, and several other characters of seemingly higher origin (Discord, The Stars, and The Dealer), have all respectively given credence to the ability's existence. Blackjack can alter fate to a survivable or Pyrrhic Victorious outcome. Even The Stars and Discord, who can both see into an infinite number of timelines, are powerless in predicting the abilities outcome or interfering with it. The ability is subtlety displayed and referenced on Blackjack's cutie mark, an Ace and Queen of Spades. According to The Dealer (Himself a ethereal cosmic being who feeds on suffering.) and Cognitium Blackjack may always win in some extreme fashion if she can pay a heavy cost and suffer in return. Throughout the events of Project Horizons Blackjack has clinically died 4 times, yet has always found a way to return to the living, even years after death through the ability. The ability however is situation dependent, and will not full take effect if Blackjack can't ante up something to suffer for in the long term.

    • SATS: SATS, short for Stable-Tec Arcane Targeting Spell, is a targeting spell that slows the users perception of time to a crawl and allows them to more accurately deal with targets. Once activated the spell presents users with a HUD of the chances of their attack hitting their target. Once released all attacks are carried out automatically.
    • EFS: EFS, short for Eyes Forward Sparkle, is a sensory spell that when activated gives the user an indication of lifeforms surrounding them, making several assertions and determining whether or not they are a threat to the user.
    • Stealthbuck: The Stealthbuck is an add on for Pipbucks designed to replicate the abilities, of a Zebra cloak, it completely makes the user invisible and cancels out any noise the user would make to a degree.
  • Healing Potion: Provides Low-Low Regeneration if consumed
  • IF-88 'Iron Pony' Combat Shotgun: Shotgun with drum magazines that can switch between manual, and automatic fire.
  • Vigilance: A 12.7 MM pistol, and family heirloom of Blackjacks. Despite its ammo weight it has a surprisingly decent amount of travel to its shots.
  • "Loaded Down": Advanced Assault Rifle with armor piercing rounds.
  • Duty and Sacrifice: Twin 5 Shot 45 Calibur Revolvers, they were specifically made to be fired telekinetically and thus prove extremely effective in combat due to their armor piercing abilities.
  • Mane Six Statuettes: 6 Statues of the Mane Six from the MLP Friendship is Magic TV Series series, these statuettes each contain a small fragment of each respective pony and Rarity's soul, it is strongly hinted that these statues if all united can give their respective holder resistance to Mind and Emphatic Manipulation from even the strongest of Alicorn Magic and The Goddess.
  • Star Metal Sword: Sword made of the same material that cases Trottenheimer's Folly's shots, strongest known metal on Equus.

Intelligence: Extremely Gifted, by this point in the story Blackjack has well matured since her first days outside the stable. Having talked every faction in The Hoof to follow her example. Was able to convince Discord (a possible Nigh Omniscient) and Goldenblood (an Extraordinary Genius) into fighting alongside her.

Weaknesses: Blackjack is extremely emotionally disturbed at this point following the final events of Project Horizons. She has once again become a reckless, reclusive, drug abusing, loner, similar to how she was in Project Horizons earlier parts. Excessive use of magic, or use of excessively draining spells will render her horn inert for some time. Mind and memory manipulation requires direct contact with her opponent and leaves her vulnerable while active. Pipbuck is vulnerable to EMPs. EFS does not inform its users what kind of life it finds and has trouble with elevation. Stealthbuck only lasts an hour and requires an hour of recharge time after each use. Blackjacks fate manipulation requires her to "ante up" something of extremely high value to her personally.
