Character Profile

Azure Luna normal
If there's nothing left to learn, so be it. But deep down, I'll always cling to the flicker of hope that there's still a fragment of this world where people can make a difference.

Azure Luna casual
I wish I had the answers, but truth be told, I'm as clueless as anyone else. I don't know what this place is or what any of these things are made of. All I have is what I learned from the 'Earth' I came from, not the 'Earth' I find myself in now.

Under the Blue Moon
If I had another chance, I'd cherish each moment, reliving them over and over. I'd bask in the intensity of my emotions, witnessing their ebb and flow. That's the essence of life, isn't it?
~ Azure Luna

Azure Luna
I often wonder... Why did my creator bring me into existence? Was it for the sake of research, or perhaps humanity's well-being? Sometimes, I feel like nothing more than a tool to be replaced easily. But even so, even after everything...

This place, right here, is the only one I can truly call home.

~ Azure Luna

Azure Luna hori
Remember, Azure, we all bear flaws and weaknesses. It's true, there may be individuals who possess greater skills and abilities than you—more accomplished and competent. But that doesn't mean you should retreat like a coward in the face of adversity.

I understand your fear, but don't allow those emotions to overpower you. Instead, trust in yourself. Believe that you have the strength to overcome the challenges that lie ahead, so that you won't repeat the same mistakes of our troubled history.

You are the embodiment of humanity, the final symphony—our cherished Blue Moon. Embrace the weight of this responsibility and let it guide you to fulfill your purpose with unwavering resolve.

~ Her creator's last message

Sumarry[]

Azure Luna is the protagonist of "Ocean Spring: Wander Lost Creek," as well as the final main character in this multifaceted series. As a prototype bioengineered human, Azure was meticulously designed with the singular purpose of facilitating interstellar exploration—an endeavor aimed at uncovering exotic lifeforms and forging connections with diverse civilizations.

However, the relentless challenges plaguing Earth, compounded by the imminent menace of The Unnamable One, compel Azure to deviate from her intended mission. Instead, she embarks on a perilous quest to safeguard her home planet and its inhabitants from impending catastrophe.

Navigating a treacherous path fraught with despair and adversity, Azure gradually evolves, fortifying her resolve to bring to fruition the profound aspirations of her creator. Amidst the trials and tribulations she encounters, she draws upon her inner strength, forging an unwavering determination to fulfill the sacred objectives entrusted to her.

As the narrative unfolds, Azure's character arc unfolds, depicting a compelling journey of growth, resilience, and self-discovery. She emerges as a symbol of hope, embodying the relentless spirit of exploration and the unwavering dedication to the preservation of humanity's future.

Appearance[]

Azure Luna, a young woman of slender physique, possesses a captivating presence accentuated by her light amber eyes and cascading shoulder-length hair, which mirrors the hues of a gentle, sunlit dawn.

In her everyday attire, Azure favors a minimalist yet stylish ensemble. She adorns herself with a soft gray tank top that gracefully complements her form, coupled with light shorts that offer freedom of movement. These practical garments adapt to the ever-evolving nature of her endeavors, their versatility catering to the diverse experimental pursuits dictated by the enigmatic foundation.

When the occasion calls for casual wear, Azure embellishes her appearance with a long-sleeved jacket, its length extending beyond her delicate hands, leaving only her fingers exposed to the world. A meticulously wrapped scarf encircles her neck, providing both a touch of warmth and a subtle accent to her ensemble. Complementing her attire, she chooses grey jeans that gracefully mold to her contours and a pair of comfortable sneakers that enable her agile traversal of the challenging terrain she encounters.

As the narrative unfolds and Azure becomes imbued with the powers of ancient relics, her physical manifestation undergoes a remarkable transformation. Empowered by the enigmatic Blue Moon, her once-porcelain complexion assumes an ethereal luminescence, reminiscent of moonlit alabaster. Her lustrous locks transition to a resplendent shade of gray, cascading down her back like a shimmering waterfall. Adorned in an exquisite, sleeveless gray gown embellished with intricate bronze motifs, she exudes an air of timeless elegance. Ornate bangles adorn her biceps and forearms, their intricate designs capturing the essence of her enigmatic journey. Delicate loops of fabric intertwine around her arm, gracefully cascading onto her fingers, where an exquisite ring holds a captivating allure. At the heart of her attire rests a resplendent gem, affixed to her chest, radiating an otherworldly luminescence.

In moments when Azure wields the formidable Frostburn, her aesthetic undergoes a dramatic metamorphosis. Clad in a resolute black gown adorned with delicate blue flowers, she personifies both strength and grace. Intricate ropes of ebony and azure intricately bind her thighs, cascading down her legs like ethereal rivers of power. Completing her ensemble, Azure dons standard black sandals, a fitting complement to the resolute harmony embodied in her overall appearance.

The intricacy and meticulousness of Azure's appearance mirror the profound depths of her character and the transformative nature of her journey. Each aspect of her attire reflects not only her evolving powers but also the essence of her purpose and the enigmatic realm she traverses.

Personality[]

Azure initially exudes an aura of serenity and detachment, an enigmatic presence that unsettles those who inadvertently meet her gaze. Her doll-like countenance, devoid of emotion, adds an eerie quality that instills fear in unsuspecting onlookers. Despite this unsettling facade, Azure possesses a deep yearning for connection and actively seeks to communicate and forge relationships. This innate desire to establish bonds stems not only from her creator's intent but also from her own volition. Unreservedly, she expresses her opinions, unafraid to broach even the most sensitive or macabre subjects, engendering a sense of honesty and transparency in her interactions. However, when confronted with threats beyond her control, a flicker of cowardice emerges within her. In such dire situations, fear courses through her veins, prompting her to scream in terror or flee instinctively, unmindful of the lives she may leave behind, even as she denies her ability to save them.

In the face of imminent danger, Azure does not hesitate to take lives to protect herself. She acknowledges that the end does not justify the means, recognizing that even lofty goals tainted by malicious intentions remain intrinsically "evil," impervious to alteration, regardless of favorable circumstances.

Amidst intense battles, Azure exhibits a latent instinct for initiative, effortlessly subduing adversaries with her innate prowess. Yet, despite these triumphs, self-doubt creeps insidiously into her consciousness, undermining her perception of strength. This pervasive uncertainty, born from years of isolation and introspection, constrains her estimation of her own capabilities. Azure possesses a profound awareness of her limits but consistently underestimates her capacity to overcome challenges, oscillating between victory and defeat. Striving to meet her creator's expectations, she comprehends the weight of her responsibilities, recognizing the imperative to transcend mere adequacy when circumstances demand it. However, as war engulfs their world, separating her from her creator, Azure burdens herself with self-blame for her perceived inability to fulfill her creator's vision, plunging her into a vortex of regret and self-pity, chastising her own perceived incompetence for lacking the power to navigate the most dire of scenarios.

Following her escape from a space shuttle, Azure finds herself adrift in a sea of remorse. Contemplating the insignificance of existence in the face of inevitable mortality, her mind gradually succumbs to the maddening embrace of hallucinations. These phantasmal visions manifest in Azure's unwavering protectiveness and unrelenting drive to achieve her goal. Nonetheless, as the arduous journey stretches on seemingly interminably, her motivations gradually wane. Isolated and bereft of companionship, her ability to connect with others deteriorates, eroding her once unwavering determination and replacing it with pervasive insecurity.

Azure's encounter with fellow travelers proves transformative, heralding a profound maturation of her character. The companionship she finds after years of solitude engenders profound gratitude and a reverence for each fleeting moment of connection. Emboldened by these newfound connections, she relinquishes her fears and confronts adversaries of superior might. Over time, her waning self-assurance is replaced with resolute confidence and a steadfast optimism for life.

This metamorphosis of Azure's personality finds reflection in her burgeoning powers, a testament to her evolving mental and physical state. The transformation is a gradual progression, with each step serving as a key milestone in her growth. Her purpose, enshrined in the power bestowed by the Blue Moon, serves as the foundation for her development. It is followed by her unyielding determination, encapsulated in the embodiment of Frostburn. Ultimately, Azure embraces her true identity as "The Blue Moon," embracing her destiny in possession of the Orb of Immeasurability. Though plagued by insecurities and reservations regarding her own achievements, every moment and interaction shapes her into a more open and compassionate individual. Tragically, her journey culminates in ultimate sacrifice, leaving behind a legacy of profound impact.

Powers and Stats[]

Tier: 6-C, Varies with Blue Moon | Low 2-C with Frostburn, 2-B with Orb of Immeasurability, eventually 2-A, far higher over time, Varies with Blue Moon

Powers and Abilities:

Attack Potency: Island Level (Was able to damage soldiers who are capable of "incinerating islands with ease"), Varies with Blue Moon (Depends on the event being projected back) | Low Multiverse Level with Frostburn (A single swing was able to destroy multiple space-time continuums), Multiverse level with Orb of Immeasurability (Converged the entire multiverse into a single point, including the space between them), eventually Multiverse level+ (The Orb was stated to "bring the end", with it containing an infinite number of multiverses), far higher over time (Was stated to further increase her power infinitely and without end), Varies with Blue Moon

Speed: Sub-Relativistic (Capable of dodging plasma lasers), Varies with Blue Moon (The speed of its even projection can vary depending on the speed of the event being replayed) | Same as Before, Immeasurable with Frostburn (Allows her to move at "negative time" where speed cannot be measured), Pseudo-Omnipresent with Orb of Immeasurability (The Orb converges any distance and converts the surrounding space into null, allowing Azure to replay every event as she technically exists everywhere), Varies with Blue Moon (Due to the Orb, all events and attacks projected will always hit the target no matter how fast they are)

Lifting Strength: Class 100 (In one of the test experiments, Azure was able to lift a chunk of rock with a density of a tank in a panic) | Same as before, eventually Infinite (Should she not have perished, her strength would be increased infinitely)

Striking Strength: Island Level (Comparable to her attack potency) | Unknown

Durability: Island Level | Unknown, likely Multiverse level (Capable of withstanding her own blows before getting overwhlemed by her own power, but the fact that she is constantly ressurecting herself from being destroyed make her assumed power harder to gauge)

Stamina: Superhuman (Can exert herself beyond the limits of any normal being) | Nigh-Infinite (Fought The Unnamable One for eons without rest, before eventually reaching the end of her stamina)

Range: Standard Melee Range, Extended Melee Range, Varies with Blue Moon | Same as Before, Low Multiversal with Frostburn (Affected multiple space-time continuums with just a single swing), Multiversal with the Orb of Immeasurability (Converged the entire multiverse into a single point), will eventually reach Multiversal+ (Stated to be able to affect the infinite multiverse should Azure kept going)

Standard Equipment: Swords, Under the Blue Moon, Frostburn, Orb of Immeasurability, and QTAD-94

Intelligence: Genius, likely Extraordinary Genius (Azure Luna, from her early stages of development, underwent rigorous training and education to equip her with a comprehensive understanding of various subjects. Considered to have attained a mastery of Earth's knowledge, Azure possesses an extensive breadth of scientific and astronomical knowledge. Her education encompassed not only theoretical learning but also practical skills, preparing her to become a formidable combatant under the direct guidance of the Hermit King. Despite harboring feelings of cowardice, Azure displays exceptional combat proficiency, swiftly transitioning from moments of trepidation to becoming a lethal force capable of single-handedly defending herself against multiple groups of soldiers. Her training instilled in her a deep sense of resourcefulness, allowing her to make creative use of her unique ability, Blue Moon, even in situations where it might appear initially ineffectual for combat purposes. Azure's astute adaptability and quick thinking enable her to harness the full potential of Blue Moon both within and outside of battle scenarios, showcasing her ingenuity and versatility. In addition to her remarkable intellect and combat prowess, Azure's physical abilities are honed to a high degree. She demonstrates exceptional mastery in swordsmanship, wielding her blade with precision and finesse. Notably, Azure employs a distinct sword fighting technique that emphasizes slashing attacks, leveraging the resultant forward momentum to deliver powerful blows. This approach grants her a tactical advantage, enabling her to strike with increased force while maintaining fluid control over her movements. Azure's training also extends to her physical agility and acrobatic prowess. She exhibits a remarkable dexterity and agility, effortlessly performing flips and maneuvers that enhance her maneuverability and evasive capabilities in combat scenarios. This combination of skill and physical prowess allows Azure to navigate her surroundings with grace and effectiveness, making her a formidable force to be reckoned with.)

Weakness: Is somewhat a coward and actively refuses to fight unless her life is threatened. Blue Moon cannot assure her safety and has a risk of killing her should the attack be too great for her to handle | The Orb overloads her body with too much power and can kill her if her body does not adapt faster.

Key: BoS | EoS

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Under the Blue Moon (or Blue Moon in short): A system intergrated in her body as a means of interstellar communication, labeled as E.P.CaR (Event Projection, Conversion, and Reflection). Its power, however, is not suited for fighting. Despite this, Azure's creativity and ingenuity makes it far lethal than what it initially is.
    • Absolute Replay: Blue Moon's primary ability is event projection; in particular, the ability to replay any event from any point in the past (with "past" being defined very loosely as it can also replay events where time does not exist), allowing Azure to discover valuable information. Every event that has happened will be exactly recreated by Blue Moon, even if it is impossible; for instance, Blue Moon can recreate the "Big Bang" because it has happened around tens of billions of years ago, despite the lack of conditions needed for it to exist. The "replay" can be controlled as if it was a video, which can be fast-forwarded to increase its lethality when using it offensively, pause/slow it, allowing Azure to interact with the event or act as a barrier to defend herself, or replay specific "parts" of the event to gain more detail. However, there are multiple drawbacks to what Blue Moon can do. For instance, Azure is required to be in the location where the event has happened, but omnipresential events like the Big Bang or replaying atemporal events like The Unnamable One are an exception. Depending on the scale of the event, Azure can and/or will be susceptible to the effects of said replayed event, such as when she died after reenacting the Big Bang.
    • Imitation: By using replay, Azure can use Blue Moon to project the event "onto" an object or individual, allowing them to imitate the form of the replayed event for a limited time. At one point, it enabled Azure to combat the Unnamable One by playing back the previous attacks the eldricth did, projected it on a space rock and have "it" play back the events towards the creature. The imitation effect of its ability can also be used to mimic other's powers as she was not only able to replay the Unnamable One's actions but also imitate its ability by replaying specific sections of its attacks.
      • Frostburn: Formed from a piece of the Unnamable One combined with Blue Moon, it is a sword of pure denial that can tear anything asunder and break fate apart. It's a misconception that it can manipulate time or manipulate the wind or ice. The real ability of Frostburn makes it's revelation so simple, yet so powerful:
        • Butterfly Effect: Allows Azure to manipulate, see, and create all the different causes and effect that can have a huge net effect on the whole system. Said causes are completely unrelated to both space and time, yet they can cause many big things in the flow of time which no one can predict. This makes her to manipulate all of causality, dictate any events to her favor, disrupt almost all of creation, manipulate paradoxes, know all possibility/probability, affect reality, and even allow her to be completely unpredictable which nullifies anyone to ever analyze or copy her powers.
          • Fate Denial: The power of Frost is to see all kinds and types of fate, seeing them like an endless and ever-expanding tree, allowing her to see the future. However, it is but an infinitesimal portion of what it could truly do, which is the ability to deny all that is preordained by fate, even those that had and yet to exist, even those that don't, allowing Azure to deny all kinds of concepts and ideas that are all-encompassing; that, in turn makes her above and beyond the nature of these concepts. She can use this power to make "unwinnable" situations, easily bypass any defense that her opponent makes, and many more.
      • Orb of Immeasurability: Through the combination of all of her "selves" through the constant replay of Blue Moon, she unlocks a power beyond even that of Frosburn. The Orb's power breaks all concepts and converges all of space-time into a state of "null", where any kind of distance, action, or ability becomes irrelevant. It also permanently and passively increase Azure's power forever, bringing upon the nature of Immeasurability, ending never more.
        • Once the space is converged, Azure enters a state "omnipresence", now capable of replaying every single event due to being in this state. As a result, she can make her and her opponent be sealed in said void infinitely. They will be stuck forever in the same place, no matter if they attempt to leave in any way, shape, or form. In addition, those that are affected will be forced to obey its power even if they try resisting it.
        • Because of its nature, Azure's attacks are always guranteed to hit no matter how fast the opponent may be.
  • QTAD-94: Quantum Tunnel, Alcubierre Drive- Model 1994 is a spacecraft made by Antithetos with a specific purpose of interstellar travel. It functions as a travelling mechanisms for Azure to travel to multiples places without the hassle of using her powers constantly.

Creation and Development[]

Backbackback, the author of Wander Lost Creek, embarked on the creation of Azure Luna, the protagonist of his multi-part series, with the intention of crafting a female character who would challenge the conventional "chosen one" trope. Azure's character arc was envisioned to be fraught with failures, casting doubt upon her suitability for such a role. Initially, Backbackback envisioned a narrative centered around exploration, where Azure's purpose would be to uncover mysteries and forge connections with different civilizations as a bioengineered human capable of interstellar travel. However, as the story unfolded, Backbackback's creative vision took a darker turn, ultimately leading to Azure's demise.

The decision to introduce Azure's death stemmed from Backbackback's desire to present a stark portrayal of the chosen one archetype and subvert reader expectations. By confronting Azure with repeated failures and internal conflicts, the author sought to challenge the notion of predestined heroism. Azure's actions, such as resorting to killing Earth's inhabitants despite her initial goal of protecting the planet, highlight the intricate layers of moral ambiguity that Backbackback intended to explore. The tragic culmination of Azure's journey, falling victim to the very threat she was meant to overcome, serves as a poignant reflection of the fragile nature of destiny and the potential consequences of humanity's hypocrisy.

Through Azure's moral conundrum, Backbackback aims to probe the boundaries of right and wrong, blurring the lines between protection and destruction. The author confronts readers with questions regarding the true nature of Azure's purpose and the implications of her actions. As Azure grapples with her morality and the consequences of her choices, Backbackback invites readers to question their own perceptions of heroism and the intricate web of motivations that drive individuals.

In crafting Azure Luna and her tumultuous journey, Backbackback weaves a narrative that defies conventional tropes, delving into the complexity of human nature, and challenging readers to reflect on the fragile balance between destiny, morality, and the choices that shape our lives.
