Azalea Aculeus is a character from The Ark Collection, serving as a tritagonist in Ark: Vagabond's End. Commonly referred to as Azalea is the second member of Vagabond Aegis. Debuting as a lone survivor of a decimated unknown clan comes a half-leviathan half-elf magic-user. Primarily regarded as a support mage, this submerged alchemist finds herself in various dilemmas along with Sakurahime and Koji, fitting in despite her past of being lackluster support, who runs her previous parties into the ground.

Possessing the lowest guild rating combined with Azalea's unprecedented prowess in destructive spells made her quite an enigma within the guild scene. Due to this, Azalea manages to draw unnecessary attention to herself, which daunts her. On the account of her raw magical brawn, Azalea conjures up expectations that add to the stress she has, leading her to stumble on most opportunities she gets. Anticipated from Azalea's lackluster expedition performance came constant berating from her party to her inevitable dismissal. Azalea's discharge tanked her guild rating, making her an outcast among the organization, hence her title of the submerged alchemist. As a result of her egregious reputation and her party options narrowed down, frustrated at the entire debacle Azalea enlists herself as a guild mercenary. Continuing as an individual who assists other parties on quests, she eventually found herself assisting an incompetent group of adventurers, who ultimately meet their demise.

Fleeing a fatal situation, Azalea was left stranded in the volcanic wasteland of the Azn Mountain range. Being a mere few inches from the sweet embrace of death, she pondered her unchanging nature as she hid from a colossal-sized lava golem regretting her decision to stay an adventurer. Being outmatched in brute force and numbers, Azalea's condition continued to worsen until the arrival of a humanoid dragon, who carelessly instigated the situation. Negligently putting himself in harm's way, Koji struck a deal with Azalea as the two worked together to defeat the golem. After sharing the experience gained and going the same direction, Azalea was caught up in Koji's feuds as a mercenary ambushed both of them. Impressed by her ability to somewhat defend herself against moderately powerful threats, Koji invited her to be a member of his guild party, thus fulfilling both of them as Azalea paid back Koji for the help.

Background[]

Azalea was a typical village dweller, doing their best to live their life one problem at a time, school, and deciding what to do with her life. Going with the motions of life, Azalea soon found herself seeing strange visions and premonitions of an otherworldly gate manifesting before her. Boggled down by concerns regarding her future, the voices from the aforementioned gate grew louder, regurgitating a vague and cryptic message. Perplexed and dismayed by the outlandish spectacle haunting her thoughts, Azalea's mental state deteriorated as non-intrinsic thoughts lived rent-free in her head during her transition into adulthood. Coping with this near schizophrenic disconnect to reality, Azalea started receiving a peculiar dream every time she went to sleep. Mistaken as a repeating hallucination entailed a scene regarding two scenarios; one where Azalea is bound by chains and another of her walking up an endless staircase accompanied by dim light and an encompassing void. Bewildered by the spectacle, Azalea started to contemplate her mental state, pondering the possibility that she was mentally deranged. Not wanting to be classified as a lunatic or put into a mental institute, she quickly denied the thought and disregarded the entire thing as if nothing ever happened. Now in an "everything is fine" mindset, Azalea proceeded to use life as a guise to forget all about the gate, as a way to stop thinking about it. As time went by, Azalea continued her life with no change. Everything was fine until change came to her.

Azazel village, which is our tritagonist hero's home village, was burned down. Plundered down, ransacked, siphoned of all of the life within. Overfilled with despair and mental anguish, Azalea contemplated the situation. When, what, where, who, and Why? Azalea was faced with an insurmountable trauma that led to her inevitable breakdown. Self-harm, self-deprecating, and numb thoughts muddle up inside Azalea's mind. The significant change to her state of mind was so ineluctably inimical that Azalea knew she couldn't live like this. As a defense mechanism, her mind repressed and mediated itself to steer away from the situation at hand, quickly putting her in a temporary psychosis. As a result of this disconnect from reality, Azalea was presented with the same premonition. A gate manifested before her once again. Desperate, grief-stricken, and filled with existential dread, Azalea took a step forward, unlocking the gate. Proceeding before the newly created path with nothing to lose, Azalea was met with nothing but darkness. What seemed like a sick twisted joke appeared to be unforeseen. Azalea stood frozen, petrified, and senseless even; her body remained unresponsive until it started moving on its own. Azalea had lost control of her body. Assumed to be possessed, Azalea went into a killing frenzy as the newly found gate of her dreams proceeded to slaughter the nearby homewreckers who reduced her house into nothing but rubble.

Upon opening the door revealed an unknown entity known as Azrael. It was assumed Azrael was a sealed god that formed a pact with those who open the mysterious gate, such as Azalea. In a couple of situations, Azrael takes over Azalea's body in exchange for large boosts in power, two being able to manipulate blood and translate magic. As time went on, since the assimilation of Azalea and Azrael's souls, Azalea continued her streak of misfortunate, resulting in her poor guild career. What turned out to be the most unfortunate of the entire situation is the information Valorant relayed. The birth of Azrael was just Azalea wreaking havoc as a coping mechanism apart from mental disassociation. The gate before her was nothing more than a guise, taking form as a pseudo-eight-grade syndrome was the fabrication of a Pandora's Box. Furthermore, Valorant revealed that Azalea had two souls inhabiting her body, the trauma of losing her home was so great that the disassociation coping mechanism split her soul into twine, one being Azalea, Aculeus, and the other being Azrael, Azalea.

Appearance[]

Azalea Aculeus is a rare find being an odd mix of species that strangely enough configure a somewhat humanoid figure despite being half leviathan. The inherent part of Azalea's beauty is the result of her half-elf physiology, which contributes to her overall appeal by providing flawless skin, natural tones and pigments, and luscious hair. Accompanied by elf genes is a below-average height, with a pear-shaped body, standing at a staggering five foot six inches. Azalea is decently fit, being an adventurer and all, maintaining some muscle mass, although not a lot of it. Being not as nearly endowed as other characters, Azalea isn't fleshed out with large breasts or ridiculously wide hips.[2] Instead of all that, she possesses strong gluteus muscles to support her enormous tail and is a bottom-heavy character, having a defined posterior. As a result of her mix-match physiology, Azalea has sharp leviathan teeth, a comical large tail, and a scent reminiscent of fresh kelp. On the topic of facial features, she has luscious silver hair accompanied by amber eyes illustrated with a reptilian iris. Disregarding physiology, Azalea's hair slightly extends past her scapula and is never kept tidy due to the ridiculous amount of work it would take as an adventurer to keep her hair in pristine condition. Due to her occupation, her hair is usually a mess, only being fixed on special occasions.

When it comes to Azalea's attire, she has a trend of wearing dark clothes such as a black tunic and dark gray scarf. In terms of growing up in a village in bumble fuck no-where, Azalea's attire looks a bit dated in design, sporting slightly ripped thigh highs and a black leather tunic with other garments layered on top of including, including a caplet and scarf. In terms of decorating herself, Azalea might look the part when it comes to being an adventurer because, holy shit, she has bandages covering random parts of her body, such as her right thigh. What's an adventurer without small bits of Armor? Well... Azalea has a gauntlet on her dominant right arm and a metal wrist band covering the other arm. The combination of bandages, pieces of body armor, and the ragged scarf combo make Azalea look like an adventurer, a poorly dressed one due to their lack of Armor. To top off Azalea's outfit, she sports black combat boots, which also boost her agility. When confronting Azalea, people are confused about what to think of the girl due to the lack of logic when it comes to assembling her outfit. To many people, Azalea looks like an adventurer with questionable decision-making skills, while to a minority, she looks completely homeless. [3]

Personality[]

Azalea is self-reserved. The way she presents herself is rather dependent on the people around her. Similar to a fabricated online persona, Azalea, when around other people, will muster more energy to be expressive, which she tends to do in the natural setting of Ark. On multiple occasions, she will say things as it is and cuss out Koji for being an idiot. Azalea is someone who feeds off other people's vibes and provides input on what's on her mind. Due to her situation, while in her natural habitat of isolation, she seems calm and collected at a glance, when in actuality, she fears people due to the trauma she experienced early in her life, contributing to an underlying social ineptitude. At her core, Azalea is just a simple person with simple aspirations to express herself without the cruel aspect of reality kicking her down every time she manages to enjoy something. Another thing is Azalea's willingness to try something new. Being the nice person she is, she took Cynthia's request for a back massage and delivered. Becoming an adventurer was never Azalea's aspiration in life, as her friend roped her into becoming one, showing how much of a royal person she is to the people in her life. Regarding her fear of people, it doesn't mean she dislikes large crowds or openly goes out of her way to avoid such; it is just the thought of and possibility that there are awful people in said environment. Aside from her actions, Azalea's magic is also reflective of what kind of a person she is, having an arsenal mostly composed of support spells with a side of highly destructive attacks.

Azalea strives in positive situations and can be somewhat socially competent as long as she doesn't let her biases cloud her judgment. Azalea believes in judging a book by its cover and is very judgmental when it comes to how people portray themselves. People like Sakurahime and Eugene come off as two sides of the same coin when it comes to Azalea; one is proper and formulaically well-mannered, while the other is affection-derived and repulsive. Despite not knowing Eugene, who is nice, she rather not get to know him solely on the intrinsic parts of his appearance. The same goes for people who completely fabricate what could be considered their cover, ranging from people who are changelings to people who reflect something that isn't true regarding them, such as a poor person covered head to toe in designer brand clothing. Despite being hard to get, Azalea doesn't like people who do the same thing, being turned off by mystery; to her, what's to say the mystery is something detrimental to her? Squeamish to a certain degree, Azalea isn't too fond when it comes to killing, only doing so if necessary, because to her, protecting the things she values in life comes first. Possessing common sense and general awareness, Azalea can read the room and interjects when appropriate, being not needy and pushy when it comes to pursuing information. Being alone for a good portion of her life, Azalea knows when to back off, appreciating the idea of personal boundaries being straight-up understanding. Covetous to a degree, Azalea isn't some mopey deadbeat. At her absolute lowest, Azalea didn't just quit. Instead of giving up while having nothing left in life, she decided to continue forward, managing to join the guild. Even when faced with countless losses during her time as an adventurer, she still managed to somehow make it work without quitting out of spite. As previously stated, Azalea was a shitty adventurer being a measly F-Rank at the beginning of the series. Due to being determined to find her place in Ark, she managed to do just that finding, being even able to find enjoyment. Azalea went from a person afraid of change in her childhood, fretting over the idea of losing the world she held so dear that proved to be a less than disconnected bubble destined to fade into obscurity due to the static way of life, into someone who strives to make change, even making the conscious effort to take over Koji's guild.

As a considerate, partially reticent, and not overly loquacious, being a quite particular person who may seem hypocritical to a certain extent, Azalea Aculeus is a mellow and amicable type of gal. Judgmental and reactive to a fault, the thing that stays consistent with Azalea is her loyalty and persistence to move on from countless blunders. Not too overly suffocating and not too coldhearted, being someone to contribute to a vibe, being open enough to try new things, Azalea is the type of person to give a listen and hear you out.

Azrael Azalea[]

Azrael Azalea, also nicknamed Lily, is an alter ego of Azalea Aculeus, born from the trauma of losing her home. Azrael first manifested as a gloomy-looking gate derived from the stress Azalea accumulated during the realization that the school chapter of her life was going to close. She was effectively growing up; during this time, it was nearing the end of her senior year of magic school. Focused on her future led to her pondering what she has accomplished so far. At the realization of her lack of achievements, Azalea was filled with existential dread. Illogical and erratic, Azrael was the embodiment of a worn-down state of mind, being a persona with poorly articulated and irrational mannerisms surrounding the persona's actions. Azrael aims to tear down what Azalea has and make her start from scratch when it comes to her progress towards happiness, making sense that doing so makes her not only desensitized to sorrow but mentally prepared for whenever her life has reached a point of stasis. Azrael's influence resulted in the near-death of Sakurahime and Koji and even in Azalea's hesitation to heal Koji when a leviathan blew off his torso, being a counteractive force against Azalea's general kindness, only wanting chaos. Azrael's characterization is limited due to being another voice inside Azalea. An overall coping mechanism for Azalea, while also being a scapegoat for the bad things that happen to her allowing, Azalea to redirect any pessimistic thoughts as someone else's fault and move forward. Masochistic with a tint of sadism, Azrael embodies the very thing their name stands for, death. Being a form of a slow death of Azalea's mental state and everything else around her is a complete self-destructive persona that only seeks to sabotage.

Etymology[]

Azalea Aculeus[]

After one google search, I concluded that Azalea is a type of flower while Aculeus is a sharp spike or other projection growing on a plant and not a word I made up. It worked well, considering I threw two words together, and they somehow both related back to plants. Aside from that random banter, I did further research, and according to some random site on google, Azalea symbolizes remembrance of home and a desire to one day return to it. Azalea's entire backstory revolves around her home, and the story of Vagabond Aegis is about a bunch of homeless people finding their own path in life, forming together a little safe space known as Vagabond Aegis. Koji's guild could be interpreted as a home to Azalea. Another thing I read is how an Azalea represents family. Vagabond Aegis is kinda like a family, so yeah, it works. As for why Azalea's last name is Aculeus? Well, the idea was to make her a snappy kind of person, the vibe I had in mind was a Tsundere who usually constantly harms other characters. Azrael fills in on the snappy aspect by being a literal sadist that kills everything. Both thorns and Azrael will make you bleed.

Azrael Azalea[]

Azrael was named after the angel of death. The reason their nickname is Lily is due to Lilies being associated with death and funerals. Azalea and her mother are named after flowers, so that's the reason behind Lily. Azrael's full name Azrael Azalea is a reference to Yami Yugi, taking Yami's first name and making their host the last name. The decision to name her alter ego Azrael was also influenced by the song 「--ウミユリ海底譚」(lit. The Undersea Story of Water Lily) being a song I listened to at the time.

Intelligence[]

Gifted. Azalea is a talented magic meister, being able to display full mastery of water magic. Aside from being an immensely talented spellcaster that maintains an intelligence stat equivalent to a genius, Azalea is an acting tactician for Vagabond Aegis, being the lifeline of the party's structural integrity and composition. As an Aqua Meister, Azalea knows the ins and outs of the natural behavior and structure of water, being able to conjure up very effective and destructive spells. Water being one of the twelve elements doesn't stop Azalea there when it comes to versatility, as she can manipulate all said inclinations proving her competence in casting Magic. Azalea is also informed when it comes to biology being able to apply Hydrolysis to support and crush opponents

Weaknesses[]

  • Mana could be extracted through Azalea's water, given a skilled enough opponent who knows how to translate phenomena back into mana, possibly giving the opponent an upper hand. This relates back to other Ark characters as the skill Restore could do just that.
  • Running out of mana proves to be deadly as it's one of the substances that sustains life, as running out of mana will cause one to faint.
  • Divine constructs, projectiles, and magic are very potent against Azalea's half Leviathan Physiology. The same thing applies to mythical beasts such as Ziz and Behemoths.
  • Azalea's preference for water and ice magic. This leaves Fire, Lightning, Wind, Earth, Nature, Light, Darkness, Holy, Unholy, and Dragon-type elements underutilized.
  • Azalea's offensive arsenal is slacking as she is mostly a support mage.
  • Overly skilled fighters and people that can evaporate her spells.

◇ Physiological Traits[]

Ark Physiology: The world of Ark is a much different place than Earth, considered by many reincarnates to be comparable to that of an RPG game, as it contains a leveling system, magic system, and multiple additional game-like systems. Thus those who exist there are naturally much different from earthly humans and organisms. All the way down to their biological and physiological makeup, as they possess multiple traits not present in normal people.

  • Accelerated Development: Corollary to the leveling system, all people in Ark develop physically, mentally, and supernaturally extraordinary quickly. A normal human in Ark could go from being nothing special at level 0 to breaking through walls as early as level 15; going from average intellect at level 0 to exceptionally smart at level 100, and going from not being able to cast a single fireball spell to being a master of all the elements in a very short amount of time.
  • Innate Magical Potential: Most beings within Ark possess the natural talent to be successful in magic, as everyone is born with connections to the world's mana, embedded in all beings in the form of mana channels. These channels allow one to produce a variety of supernatural phenomenons known as magic.
  • Magic: Magic is the phenomenon produced when one exerts their mana channels to the point of converting spiritual energy into power, resulting in many things, often whatever the user was imagining as they did. It can be used to perform multiple different kinds of physics-breaking techniques.
  • Mana Channels: Mana channels, sometimes known as mana circuits, webs, or links, are the wires which mana flows through within the bodies of all who live, acting as a pseudo-nervous system connected directly to both the mind and soul. It holds, produces, and projects the spiritual energy of all things. And when used correctly, it can be utilized to convert this energy into a phenomenon known as magic.

Leviathan Physiology: Leviathans are extremely powerful, god-like serpents, capable of controlling the winds and the oceans, being the apex of Ark’s physiological hierarchy. They are invincible against nearly all enemies and have layers of magic resistances within themselves. Despite that near-impenetrable resistance, divine weapons or weaponry crafted from Behemoths and Zizs can be used to harm Leviathans as leviathans lack resistance against holy magic and weaponry. Despite that, leviathans remain pretty powerful and capable, being able to tear space-time with their void mouths and can control aquatic life. Due to their serpent-like stator, they are quite agile swimmers even being empowered while submerged, in some cases leviathans can fly. Additionally, they receive a damage reduction of 50% against attacks that aren't from divine or holy magic & items, high-level angels, beasts, and birds.

  • Wind Inclined - An magical inclination tailored toward wind which is the natural movement of air. Azalea possesses a natural inclination to the wind element as a result of her half-leviathan physiology. Because of such affinity, Azalea will be able to utilize wind magic and wind-related attacks easier than other elements.
  • Water Inclined - An magical inclination tailored to manipulating Water and its properties. This is regarded as a double package due to this inclination having a sub-inclination of ice. The application is near endless as Water takes the form of its container and possesses three states. What makes this inclination applicable is the fact that Water is riddled all over Ark.

Elf Physiology: Elves are well-known species, being regarded as an upgraded human. A basic complex organism that possesses the ability to learn, grow, and adapt just like humans but without the fear of old age. In terms of what they can accomplish compared to humans, they possess innate talent whereas humans rarely have such. Being far from a one-trick pony, elves outdo humans in many aspects, being much better with weapons such as swords, bows, and traditional combat compared to humans and have superhuman growth to complement that natural talent. Despite the talent and ability to grow instantly, they have Adequate Accuracy. The eyes of an elf are far more precise than normal humans, rivaling even birds due to such their accuracy with weapons and tools remains to be unrivaled. Furthermore, they have a near-endless lifespan and are natural magic users, being able to utilize all magic elements quite well. Humans seem to have a hard time not finding them attractive, though, other elves seem to have problems with big age gaps, despite them not looking different through age.

  • Omni Inclined - A rare magical inclination towards all elements. A non specific orientation towards every element allowing the user to manipulate any attribute with ease.

◇ Unique Traits[]

Resistances/Immunities: A resistance in Ark is an innate trait that makes one invulnerable or unaffected by specific or multiple different skills and abilities. Resistances usually vary in strength in the form of layers, with each layer of resistance adding an additional coating of invulnerability to a certain skill or ability, not able to be negated by a basic resistance negating skill. Basic resistances and basic resistance negating abilities only begin at one layer, however. Immunities on the other hand are traits that make one completely resistant to ability on a level above that of layers, to the point where not even a resistance negation of infinite layers could nullify such immunity.

  • Incapacitation Immunity - One of Azalea's trademarks is the ability to keep moving, possessing a resistance toward moves that constitute immobilization and incapacitation, this means she cannot be petrified or frozen.
  • Mental Resilience - Through Koji's leaderskill, Azalea's guild receives resistance to all mind-altering or mentally influencing skills and abilities. Allowing Azalea to be unaffected by mind control, manipulation, madness inducement, and any other mind-based skills.
  • Vulnerability Resistance - Azalea resists her own ability possessing a resistance toward Water and Ice inclined vulnerability. Vulnerability strips the user of their resistance and lowers the target's resistance and durability of a specific attribute. Furthermore, each stack of resistance revoked towards an attribute contributes to the damage inflicted when being harmed by said element. After the union of Azalea's guild party, she gained resistance towards vulnerability tailored towards the twelve basic elements.

Aqua Affinity - Unique Trait; The user gains a 50% boost to all parameters when consuming water. User is now invulnerable in large bodies of water. Nearby allies are immune to water vulnerability, have a 20% chance of ignoring defense, and all attacks inflict water damage equivalent to 135% of the user's attack. Healing and buffs are greatly enhanced. If a water-based attack successfully connects and hits Azalea, she will receive a ten percent damage reduction buff that lasts up to eight ark days (this timer resets once re-exposed).

Ingenious Persona - Unique Trait; All of the user's attacks inflict water vulnerability. Furthermore, each attack possesses the chance of inflicting trait cancel one-half of the time. Additionally, the user is immune to incapacitating skills. The user's speed is doubled when in the proximity of large bodies of water. The user has a 65% of surviving one fatal hit.

  • Ingenious Anxiety - Unique Trait; All of the user's attacks inflict elemental vulnerability. Furthermore, each attack possesses a chance of inflicting trait cancel one-half of the time. Additionally, the user is immune to incapacitating skills and elemental vulnerability. The user's speed is tripled when nearby large bodies of water and tripled when making contact with water. The user receives a 75% boost to their attack and chance of surviving one fatal hit. Water-based attacks are nulled and increase the user's defense by 85% (as a temporary stack).
Subsidized Submersion - User's attacks inflict [Hydrolysis] and disrupt magically attacks allowing the user's attacks to overpower any other magic-based attack. All attacks that don't assign with the water or ice attribute have their potency halved and possess a chance of being nullified one-fifth of the time.

◇ Guild Passives[]

Fenris Guild Association - Being enlisted in the guild organization alone provides various benefits; however, enrolling into a specific guild fraction offers unique skills and traits tailored towards the quests available at said guild location. Fenris City being one of the guild factions provides exclusive passives to its members specializing in versatility and convenience suited to the user's playstyle. Such benefits are subsidizing traits and passives allowing the utilization of parameter boosts and status effects to allow the user to endure challenging situations.

  • Glory of Fenris - All guild members manifest skills based on their class through leveling up. Skills created this way are skills that relate to the class's innate nature, being able to create skills that are magic based if the user's class was a mage. If the target's class is a custom class which is a preferential class that grants them abilities based on their desire, the skills obtained by this ability would provide abilities based on the user's mindset and personal desire during the moment they level up.

Vagabond's Champloo - Togglable leaderskill; all users gain an 85% resistance to elemental attacks and an additional 10% towards the earth, water, and fire. While active all user's attacks double in potency and physical damage received is reduced by 45%. Absolute Volition - Togglable leaderskill; a passive that amplifies the user's attack by 75% and allows the user's attack to ignore defense one-fifth of the time. While active all users are immune to mind-altering traits and skills. Voyager's Amalgam - Togglable leaderskill; an amplifying passive that grants parameter bonuses based on the environment. While in an area where the user is unfamiliar with, the user gains a 135% boost to all parameters. If in familiar environments, the user's chance of evading passively increases by 45%.

Hold Your Head High - Prerequisite extra skill; requires the deactivation of all passives and the user to have less health than foe. When engaging in combat with all conditions met, the user will undergo an evolution that scales their skill, parameters, and mental intuition with their opponent.

◇ Custom Class Passives Skills[]

Thorny Marine - Class Passive; The user's body is a vessel that reshapes any outside influence into itself, taking chaotic and corrupted energies and converting them into mana, furthermore the user resists any attempt at altering said vessel. Additionally, the user’s attacks inflict corrosion and possesses a 15% chance of automatically dodging attacks.

Dihydrogen Monoxide - Class Passive; Upon successfully landing an attack, the user’s second will inflict additional damage equal to 200%. Furthermore, the first attack landed on the user will have its attack power reduced to one. If both effects activate, reduce the next spell cost to one (Stackable).

◇ Skills[]

Acid Rush - The alteration of water's acidity by altering the attack's bond polarity, bond strength, and conjugate base stability. Acid Rush can burn anything it makes contact with, being able to melt a human down into nothing. This is an example of objects affected by Acid Rush.

Azure Aegir - A very potent water attack. Azure Aegir is the manifestation of a high-pressured water geyser, packing enough pressure to puncture walls and roofs and harm Nyx.

Big Freeze - Azalea extends her mana outward like a discharge of water, effectively disrupting mana composition and "killing magic" in the process.

Fire Ball - A standard spell, a Fireball is a sphere composed of mana that burns at high temperatures.

Hydrolyze - A more advanced water technique that induces biological reactions by breaking down chemical bonds intervention of water. Can be used as a support spell to grant allies more energy or slowly destroy the insides of opponents.

Maelstrom - A water-based defensive skill that revolves around the generation of large water vortexes that suck in nearby magic. The user can discriminate what gets sucked in.

Mana Shot - The condensation of mana to a signal dense point that acts like a bullet. Due to the low cost of this attack, it is a go-to for spammable attacks.

Neptune's Gate - Neptune's Gate is an all-mighty spell. Once cast, an ominous gate emerges. When opened, the Gate extends chains towards a target, forcibly sealing their abilities and dragging them towards the Gate's entrance. Once the target is caught inside the Gate, it closes before being sent to the void, erasing the trapped target.

Neptune's Narcolepsy - A expulsion of water laced with unique properties that generate melanin, the hormone responsible for sleeping. The spell itself will induce Narcolepsy as those affected by it will be hit by a hormone overdose.

Neptune's Prayer - A support-based spell that grants the target [Guts], which is a status effect that allows the bearer to survive lethal attacks.

Neptune's Trident - The construction of a large trident, this simple yet useful move acts like Azalea's ultimate move, each use being the size larger than villages or islands.

Neptune's Virtue - A water-based skill that grants the target temporary regeneration. This grants the target's body water-like properties that allow the user to reconfigure themselves through cohesion.

Overdrive - A standard spell that boosts a target's parameters by five, being a temporary boost that leads to a rough crash after ten minutes.

Overflow - A well-rounded support spell that sends an influx of mana to its target, allows the user to cast without a spell cost, and boosts their parameters by fifty percent.

Refresh - A skill that resets a target's stats, allowing them to regain their stamina, mana, and health. Refresh also rids any status effect on its target, putting them in a neutral state.

Restore - A skill that reverts the target back to its previous state, essentially removing all previous influence that modified said target. Can be used on spells, reverting it into mana.

Solar Flare - A light-based attack generates harsh light and blinds nearby foes. Azalea used this one in conjunction with Fireball.

Water Pulse - The antithesis of a Fireball, a Water Pulse is a ball of water that is hurled at targets at accelerating speeds being able to knock someone out. Can potentially be fatally given the cold shock of being hit with water.

During the majority of her debut as the support mage for Vagabond Aegis, Azalea managed to secure herself multiple wins due to the teamwork they managed to incorporate as adventurers. Azalea has a 62.5% win-loss ratio, only losing to solo fights such as her spar with Sakura, the exception being the school fight where Koji fought her and five others.

Guild Reunion [37.5][]

Vagabond Aegis managed to split up and get back together. However, it remained short-lived. Instead of Koji leaving, Azalea left being picked up by Endless. As a member of Endless, Azalea managed to rack up perfect wins, only being diminished by solo fights, although she became a little more experienced in that sort of field, managing to beat Koji. Azalea's win-loss ratio is a staggering 37.5%, being nearly half of her 62.5% during the last Arc.

Vagabond's End [20.0][]

The latest Arc and the final separation of Vagabond's Aegis, now both Sakura and Koji left, leaving Azalea as the leader of the guild. She managed to become a more experienced fighter, but is still taking losses left and right, possessing even a lower win and loss ratio. Azalea wins one-fifth of the fights she participates in, the last win being before the disbanding of the guild party.

Trivia[]

Azalea Aculeus is my first Ark entry to have regeneration, along with Nora Brynhildr; these two were both made with the ability in mind, being a part of their package.

Azalea Aculeus is my favorite Ark Character followed by Nyx, and is the only character to have been drawn as a personal request of mine.

Azalea Aculeus was recreated in Terraria and has two hypothetical documents regarding how she would look in other games. Azalea has a theoretical Fate/Grand Order counterpart and Genshin Impact counterpart.

Azalea was registered as Azelea as a result of her creator not knowing how to spell the flower's name. Being my second character to be retconned on the same day of their creation

Azalea's first guild is named Elevatia, being a reference to the song by Bossfight. This relates back to the creator being a Geometry Dash player.

Azalea is one of two people in Vagabond Aegis to be a hybrid, the other character being Koji Komatsu. The non-hybrids include:

Aqua Affinity is a reference to Minecraft, specifically an enchantment of the same name.

Azalea is lore in FC/OC's Minecraft SMP, being marked up as the goddess of water, whereas VNova is her retainer and Courser is her royal servant. On top of that, Azalea's original image is Tomimi from Arknights, which is also VNova's Minecraft Skin.

Azalea follows the trend of having a song from Nujabes' Luv(sic) hexalogy, having the second part as a theme, the reason is wanting to find love and positivity after a tragedy that should have never happened. As a support, she is all about spreading positivity.

  • Luv(sic) is about discovery.
  • Luv(sic) Part 2 is about finding love in life, moreso spreading positivity (luvsic part 2 was written in the wake of 9/11. A deep sense of uncertainty & inevitability led to "hip-hop worldwide, we got to live in peace").
  • Luv(sic) Part 3 is about moving past all bullshit in life and simply living.
  • Luv(sic) Part 4 is about growing old and enjoying life for what it is.
  • Luv(sic) Part 5 is about loss and the hopefulness associated with it.
  • Luv(sic) Part 6 is about meeting once again in the afterlife.

Azalea's birthday is August 27th and was made as a character on August 20th, 2020.
