Summary[]

Ashi Oto (足音, lit. footstep) is a human, who follows her father's footstep. She is a young geologist who blitzes through the battlefield using her power, "Now or Never".

Appearance[]

She appears as an adult of below-average height and decent build. She maroon hair, red and white eyes (diagnosed with heterochromia).

Ashi's attire consists of a sweater with a white polo underneath, black-tinted silk skirt that she uses to store her portable shovel, a choker, and high-quality sandals. Due to the quality of the material, she likely spends the most of her money in buying clothes.

Ashi carries with her a long, portable military shovel, which is essential to her fighting ability. She also carries a bag, containing her commonly-used geological equipment.

Personality[]

Easy-going and relaxed so long as the concept of "6" is not involved, Ashi Oto is also a resolute and creative fighter when in battle.

Ashi comes off as a laid-back adult, being one of the least serious even when faced with a difficult situation. She is often described as a carefree individual, whose goal was to enjoy simple, daily, and worldly pleasures. During idle times, Ashi can often be seen sleeping or jogging. Her simplicity would be presumed to be normal by those who do not know her well, when, in reality, she wishes to do her best even if all she had done would be useless in the end. She is also very sociable, regularly seen bringing random conversation subjects out of nowhere, such as asking if bald people should wear a hairnet, or if expecting the "unexpected" makes the unexpected "expected".

While Ashi may act nonchalant, she can be extremely violent if need be. She has also been shown to be very ill-mannered at times, using coarse language and often taunting her enemies whenever she has the upper hand in battle.

However, she is still a good person at heart. She shows compassion towards people deserving it and treats her friends without any kind of ill-will, often telling jokes to lighten up the mood.

Ashi shows a great deal of confidence in her ability, saying that her Milieu "Now or Never" is best when it comes to fighting. Despite this however, she knows better than anyone the limits of her own ability, often running away from a fight if she is completely overwhelmed.

In contrast to her usually easy-going attitude, Ashi can become serious and proactive when in battle, always taking the initiative and rushing too rapidly to battle, usually going for an immediate kill. Although most enemies she's faced had abilities that exceed far above her own, she would always show her ingenuity to a fight; such as making tactical retreats and sneak attacks regularly, trying to ambush the enemy when they are at their most vulnerable. Now or Never's versatility even allows her to perform unpredictable tricks such as giving her a very wide range or suddenly disappear and maneuver out of trouble. Even when pitted against a weaker opponent, Ashi takes precautions and can even be seen laying traps around an opponent; even more so against a stronger opponent, performing a tactical retreat and appearing when least expected. Moreover, Ashi shows great calmness in battle, managing to keep her composure even at the threat of death. If given the choice, she has no problem coming up with life-threatening moves that can even surprise or intimidate the enemy out of its absurdity. Even so, this has its limits as she can be seen panicking when faced with an incomprehensible kind of power, even begging for other people to stop it.

Her eccentricity comes from her Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia^W: fear of the number 666. If it is mentioned, visible or even heard, she will immediately become anxious and paranoid. She admitted that her paranoia comes from her father's fear of the number, and assumed that the fear has been passed on through blood. Though she sometimes sets this fear aside, she would rather avoid said number than to confront it all the time.

Being a geologist, Ashi shows confidence in her skill at discerning specific landforms and terrains. This has even helped her in multiple situations as she can easily gain a battlefield advantage to any opponent she may face.

Backstory[]

In her early childhood, one of her teacher showed a number 6, but she felt extreme paranoia after glancing at it, thus growing her fear of the number 6. Whenever she sees it, she always go to her father, who comforts and reassures her safety in his arms.

In her teenage years, Ashi had been living on her own. She enjoyed a carefree life despite living in poverty most of the time. She enjoyed sleeping, jogging, and fiddling with pebbles on the floor. Occasionally, she would get caught by police officers for violating curfew and spend nights at the police station. Nonetheless, she enjoyed a pleasant life.

She went on to study at a school and took the course of geology, becoming a geologist in a short time due to her fascination for rocks. She had a lot of friends thanks to her very friendly and nonchalant attitude, going out with them if she's available. She gained a reputation at the school and went to have a job at a company who paid her a high salary given her skills and expertise at such a young age.

But on one night, when she saw a group of criminals beginning to molest a young girl, she had no choice but to defend the girl. She snuck up behind them and kneed the man at his face, disarming him of his weapon. The others began to panic and tried to fire the gun, but she had already got the kid and proceeds to escape from the criminals. To add insult to injury, she received a call from her mother that her father had seemingly passed away from a cardiac arrest. She was in tears as she hears her mother's cries, filled with sorrow for her father being unable to see her daughter's achievements.

Tomorrow morning, she was interrogated by the police and is captured for kidnapping. Despite her excuses, no one believed that she picked up a girl and escaping the molesters, not to mention her intention of hurting the men. Ashi, who had a good life, began to wonder whether everything she had done is entirely useless. However, this incident caught Dr. Kita's attention. He believed that Ashi's simplicity towards life and her reputation as a geologist made her a suitable candidate to join the Mijikaku Committee. Soon after, she develops her Milieu and joins Dr. Kita on his journey, seeing him as a "nice guy", treating him like her brother and best friend, thanking the doctor for giving her another chance at life.

Intelligence: Gifted. Ashi has a surprising amount of ingenuity, making exceptional use of her almost useless ability, turning something that would seem weak and insignificant on paper into a extremely dangerous, lethal and versatile power, making use of it in a wide variety of ways both in and outside of battle. She's also quite analytical and has shown time and time again to have the capacity to figure out a foe's weaknesses and to exploit them, how they fight and make use of their abilities and even how much of a priority they are to take out based on their actions and personality. Ashi being a geologist has also helped her countless amounts of times, being able to gain advantage by simply being higher than her opponent and can even turn the tides of battle against a stronger and faster opponent, using the entire battlefield as her weapon.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

Now or Never: A Physically Bounded Prime Type Milieu, that grants a useful ability that makes her both elusive and dangerous, as the particles she turns into can bypass defenses and are nigh-impossible to attack.
- Gravel Transformation: Allows Ashi to break her body apart into very small independently controlled stones and then reconstruct at will. The particles possess the ability to permeate, being so small that they can pass through anything. In this form, she can invade someone's body and take control of their movements, fusing with body parts such as bones, ligaments and tendons.
  - Gravel Weapon Creation: She can create weapons out of gravel by transforming her body into a certain type of weapon, ranging from swords to something complicated as guns.
  - Explosion: Since gravel will crack and explode when exposed to high temperature, Ashi can apply the energy she gained from her momentum and use it on a piece of gravel, allowing her to augment her strength and increase her destructive capability.
  - Surface Assimilation: Her gravel body allows her assimilate with the surface and can appear out of nowhere, akin to Teleportation.
  - Transmission: Asides from Asbestos, she can also add other substances to her gravel form. These can vary and can be used in a multitude of ways, such as adding fire for extra destructive capacity, adding poison to kill enemies faster, or even adding molten metals to further increase the stone's durability.
    - Parasitic Latching: Ashi's gravel can latch herself onto her victims, like a tick. Once latched, she sucks the body fluids and blood of her victim. This, however, does not give her the powers gained from her victims.
    - Body Replication: Ashi is capable of spawning multiple piles of gravel at a rapid pace from her victim, to the point of overwhelming its victim within seconds. Attempting to attack Ashi results in spawning more of the gravel, proving any attack against her seemingly futile. This also grants her ability to clone herself, being practically immortal as she can transfer consciousness to another clone.
    - Dandruff Manipulation: Ashi's gravel form seems to induce an allergic reaction in those she attacks, as she is essentially a foreign body. This causes the victim to begin producing a severe, abnormal amount of dandruff on their whole body. The allergy is so severe it causes Anaphylaxis- a serious allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may cause death.
      - Mental Hallucination: After generating more dandruff, the victim will undergo severe hallucinations, bringing out its victim's fears to cause emotional anguish and trauma.
    - Weight Distribution: By distributing her mass throughout her gravel form, which are nigh-infinite, she can decrease her own weight down to zero, which allows her to develop a technique named "Refulgence".
      - Refulgence: A technique she performed by removing all her weight thanks to Now or Never. This allows her to travel at light speed. By using this technique she able to cause time dilations, which allows her to "stop/freeze" time (When traveling at the speed of light (v=c), left under the radical you would have 0. This answer would be undefined or infinity if. The reference time divided by zero would be infinity; therefore, it could infer that time is 'frozen' to an object traveling at the speed of light). Though the applications are vague, she is able to "travel through" time (In accordance to Einstein's theory of special relativity, when an object travels at light speed, time "slows down" relative to the outside world. This is not a just a conjecture or thought experiment – it’s been measured. Using twin atomic clocks [one flown in a jet aircraft, the other stationary on Earth] physicists have shown that a flying clock ticks slower, because of its speed). This technique also allows her to perform the following:
        Accelerated Healing: By accelerating her body she is able to heal near-instantly from almost any injury.
        
        Flight: By constantly pushing herself off the ground, she can achieve flight.
        
        Increased Perceptions: She accelerate her body to be able to see, smell, touch, taste, and hear at the same speed as she is.
        Increased Brain Activity: A byproduct of her accelerated body, allowing her to process information faster than any other normal humans. She can run trial and error to solve equations or create multiple situations to which she could think of the most probable outcome.
        
        Phasing: Vibrating her molecules in certain pattern allows her to permeate.
        
        Vortex Creation: By rotating her arms, she can create vortices with varying degrees: from as small as a gust of wind, to a giant tornado, to giant shockwaves that can wipe out an entire city.
        
        Infinite Momentum: A byproduct of her technique, to which she builds enough momentum that can destroy the universe. (According to relativity, as an object approaches the speed of light, its momentum approaches infinity. Because of this, it doesn’t matter what the mass or velocity of the object the particle at the speed of light is striking, since it has infinite momentum, the collision will result in a massive loss of kinetic energy).
        Infinite Momentum Punch: Ashi throws a punch by utilizing Infinite Momentum temporarily, which could normally result in the destruction of the observable universe, albeit she'd normally use this in short bursts.
        Infinite Momentum: Singularity: If Ashi were to continue using Infinite Momentum at its fullest, it would result in a singularity that would rip apart small multiverses and several space-time continuums, disabling most abilities as the space and time distorts said abilities, rendering it useless. Furthermore, she can create a chain reaction that would destroy causality and even destroy the concepts that governs said multiverse. She wouldn't normally use this as it would take about less than a minute to bring them all back. However, she also stated by going all-out, she would be able to do it much faster and near-instantaneously, having re-created them with no errors nor mistakes. Thanks to this recreation, the "fate" of the new universe she created would also be under her control. She is the only exception to this, including those that are independent of her control. In accordance to her ordain, those influenced by her power would have their power and their fate controlled, having no chance of defeating her.
- Asbestos Manipulation: Each gravel within Now or Never stores and secretes asbestos. Anything that is in contact will spew asbestos out of every hole in their body, going as far as to secrete asbestos from subatomic gaps. Considering that anything have subatomic gaps from the molecules an object has, this could kill a person within seconds because of asbestos poisoning. Asbestos is also a good heat resistant material and a insulator for most appliances, which could be applied onto Ashi's body to resist heat or when travelling at speeds that would normally kill a human.
  - Asbestos Barrier: Asbestos are natural minerals that are resistant to heat, cold, corrosion, and sound. This protects her in light-speed travels and could be used in conjunction with RPSOT that allows her to survive in space.

Equipment[]

Military-Class Portable Shovel: A compact and lightweight shovel made from high-quality steel carbon. It can function as a tool and as a weapon. The handles of the shovel can fold twice making it portable. The head comes with a serrated edge on one side that functions as a blade with a replaceable attachment with a shorter head that can turn the shovel into a makeshift halberd.
Reusable Portable Space Oxygen Tank (RPSOT): A modified oxygen tank that allows her to breathe in space whenever she isn't using her powers. This ensures her safety as overusing her powers are quite tiring to use, with this being a backup in case it happens. It comes with a propeller that allows her to travel in space without the need to use her powers. She creatively uses this with her other equipment and Milieu to collect high, theoretically “unlimited” amount of oxygen over a long period of time by creating a closed chamber containing a plant which she regularly expose to a sufficient amount of sunlight, nutrients, and water. Discovering that 71% of the earth's surface is taken up by water, the seas are an important source of oxygen. Photosynthesis by phytoplankton (mostly single-celled phototrophs , such as cyanobacteria, green algae and diatoms) account for half of the earth's oxygen production. The other half, is produced on land by trees, shrubs, grasses, and other plants. Doing this, effectively allows her to live in space, creating a "theoretically" unlimited oxygen.

Geologist Equipment: A list of the most common tools among geologists:
- Rock Hammer: Can be used as a weapon or as a tool to break rocks, which could be useful since she would often hide in rocks to attack her opponents.
- Hand Lens: Thanks to her accelerated eyesight, she can use this to observe people farther away.
- Field Notebooks: Though these could seem useless, she could use this to make her calculations and write down her daily discoveries, acting as a disguise for anyone suspecting her identity.
- Acid Bottle and holder containing Hydrochloric Acid: These could be used for traps and/or enhancements to her ability, Now or Never, using it to further increase her attack potency.
- Retractable knife: One of her ranged weapons that be used for throwing or for detecting any enemy within an area, leaving a small particle of gravel for reconnaissance. This, in conjunction with the scriber, could create dangerous traps to immobilize or possibly kill people.
- Pocket Scriber: A pointed instrument used for making marks and could be a very effective trap in conjunction with Ashi's ability. Although possessing the same functionality as the Knife, she could cover a large area with traps and kill multiple people without the need for her powers, which is a part of her disguise as well. Even if the enemy were to destroy these traps, it would result in them multiplying thanks to them being affected by her ability. Furthermore, if someone where to make contact with one of these traps, the asbestos and the acid will easily dispose of the target.
- Field Vest: As a part of this disguise, she would often wear a vest made insulated rubber (for electricity), Kevlar (for fire), and other fabrics that make it resistant to swords and projectiles.
- Handheld GPS: A custom GPS she built specifically to identify each one of the rocks she laid out, though for others the screen would look normally as a typical GPS.
Oxygen Plant: A modified plant she created that allows her to survive in space.
