Hello. I am Amaterasu, daughter of Izanagi and Izanami. Why did you summon me and how can I help you?
~ Amaterasu when summoned by Isaac and Helena.

Amaterasu-Ōmikami or just Amaterasu, is a goddess from Warriors of Eden. Amaterasu is the Sun Goddess in the Shinto Pantheon, she is the daughter of the God of Creation, Izanagi, and the Goddess of Destruction, Izanami, and a sister of Tsukuyomi and Susanoo. She is the main goddess of Japan and highly respected in other pantheons.

Backstory[]

Amaterasu was born from the god of Izanagi and the goddess Izanami, more than a million years ago, at the dawn of humanity. She was the sister of the gods Tsukyoumi and Susanoo. Amaterasu was worshiped by early human peoples as the goddess of light and sun, which consequently, due to the collective unconscious, made Amaterasu the goddess who personifies the sun and its light, the light that brings hope to humanity, which reflected in Amaterasu being a benevolent, just and protective goddess of her faithful and followers.

After Izanami ended up in Hell and Izanagi failed to save her, the god of creation decided it was time for him to leave. With that, Izanagi called his three sons, and told them that he was leaving for a journey and that he would leave each of them to take care of a region while he was away, Susanoo would rule the seas, Tsukuyomi would rule the Moon, and finally, Amaterasu would be the one who rules the Takamagahara, the realm created by Izanagi himself for the shinto gods to live on. After leaving, Amaterasu took care of everything for her father, waiting for the day when Izanagi would return to continue ruling his pantheon, though deep in her heart, the Sun Goddess knew her father would not return, but at least he was resting.

Amaterasu was worshiped for thousands of years among human beings, until the fateful day when the Flood occurred, which resulted in the destruction of all human civilizations and, consequently, of the followers of the gods as well, forcing the deities to create their own dimensions so they can inhabit. Luckily for Amaterasu and her brothers, her father, Izanagi, had already created a dimension called Takamagahara, where the gods could stay during the Flood.

After the Great Flood passed, humans ended up separating and living far away from each other, which in turn caused the worship of the gods to diminish, with small groups still maintaining the tradition of their ancestors. However, with Amaterasu it was different in that as the Goddess of the Sun, she continued to be worshiped by humans (both directly and indirectly), with humans offering her various festivities and ceremonies such as the day to celebrate sunrise in spring.

With the passage of time, new sun gods came to appear, such as the Sun God Ra, or the Sun God Apollo, son of Zeus and Leto, which gradually led to worship of Amaterasu losing followers. Everything got worse after the birth of Jesus Christ, who founded Christianity, a religion that quickly spread throughout the Middle East and eventually throughout the world, and due to the commandment "you shall have no other gods", the pagan gods were increasingly abandoned , forcing them to remain living in their own realms, being invoked from time to time. The same happened with Amaterasu, even more because the day of the sun was replaced by Christmas, a date that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

During the 21st century, Amaterasu was summoned by Helena and her younger brother Isaac, with them asking the goddess for a divine blessing from her so they could have powers related to light and the sun to defend themselves from demons, Amaterasu concentrated and blessed them both.

Amaterasu returned again to aid her father Izanagi and mother Izanami in the battle against the Abyss God Chaos and defeat him before he destroyed the universe. To help her father, she merged with Izanagi, as well as her brothers, increasing the power of the God Izanagi, for later he merged with Isaac Smith, who also merged with Izanami. Currently, Amaterasu inhabits Isaac's body and her soul is part of the Buddha's divine soul.

Appearance[]

Amaterasu is a goddess who can constantly change form, being able to appear as a child or an adult woman. During the pre-Flood period, Amaterasu assumed the appearance of a woman with long white hair and amber eyes, with a mature figure. Being desired and coveted by several gods, including her brother Tsukuyumi. She also had some red marks on her body and hair. Worshiped by eastern peoples, Amaterasu usually takes on a more japanese appearance.

Amaterasu can also appear as an animal, spawning by choosing a white wolf with crimson markings across her body and a tail shaped like a calligraphy brush. In her wolf form she can reach 100 meters in height. When summoned by Helena and Isaac, she assumed the appearance of a cute little girl, with long white hair and red eyes, possessing long fox ears on her head. She was dressed in a black fuku sailor-style outfit, with a red scarf at the collar.

In her current form, Amaterasu's physical appearance is that of a fit young woman with long black hair. Her hair is also tightened towards the bottom to prevent it from freely moving. She wears the standard clothes of a miko, a Japanese priestess.

Personality[]

Amaterasu is a benevolent and compassionate deity, probably due to the fact that the sun to humans represents hope and life. Amaterasu has always had a good relationship with her father, Izanagi, being considered his favorite daughter. So much so that Izanagi appointed his daughter to rule the Takamagahara (aka Shinto Heaven), trusting her to do a good job. During her time ruling the shinto pantheon, she was always adored and respected by her followers, with her always answering their prayers when she could. She also had no problem descending to Earth to interact with humans, being one of the few goddesses who were seen personally by her followers.

In relation to Izanami, Amaterasu loves her mother, but admits that she is irritated by the fact that Izanami started to kill a thousand living beings a day just as a way to get revenge on Izanagi. Amaterasu has a good relationship with her brothers, especially with Tsukuyomi, where they even had a romantic relationship in the past. She is also respected among the other pantheons as a wise, fair and very powerful goddess. As for the Angels, Amaterasu has a certain repudiation of any being that comes from the Abrahamic Heaven, as she mentions that she will never forget what happened in the Flood.

Weaknesses: Amaterasu being a goddess, gets her power from the faith of human beings, if they stop having faith in her, she ends up weakening. When she assumes a human form, her body can be completely destroyed by opponents stronger than her, it doesn't kill her, unless the opponent has some ability that by affecting her physical body affects her true form, such as Soul Manipulation, Existence Erasure, between others. Remembering that for someone to be able to hurt her true form it is necessary to have the same level of power as her and it is not enough to just destroy the physical form (this is not necessary in the case with a hax that ignores durability and can affect spiritual beings).

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Deity Physiology: Amaterasu is a deity, that is, a god. The gods who founded their pantheons were originally humans who, upon receiving a great deal of faith and worship, ascended and became pagan deities, high-level spiritual beings who can rival even the Angels of Heaven. Amaterasu didn't need that to be a goddess, she was born a deity, being the daughter of the gods Izanagi and Izanami, but not personifying anything in particular, being more like a "human with super powers". However, after she began to be worshiped as a sun goddess by the first human civilizations, she became the personification of the sun and, due to great Worship that the sun received from humans, Amaterasu turned out to be an extraordinarily powerful goddess.
    • Personification of the Sun: Amaterasu is the goddess who personifies the sun, because she was worshiped by human beings as the solar goddess, who saw the sun as a deity, the goddess Amaterasu came to become a deity who personifies the sun itself, but not just the earth's sun, but the concept of the sun, in other words, the stars, the luminaries of space that light up the cosmos and bring to life the Creation.
