Summary

A Blond Ray of Sunshine is a fanfiction series that takes place over seventy years after the events of the first Generation of the Pokémon series. It follows Antoshi and his best friend, Fireball the Typhlosion, as they journey around the region of Kanto and then Johto. When Fireball is kidnapped by Team Rocket, Antoshi unwittingly unlocks superhuman powers within him. With the discovery of these powers, his life starts to change dramatically and finds out he is destined for much greater deeds.

While set in the Pokémon universe, the majority of the characters have powers more closely associated with that of Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho. Things like hypersonic fighting, Ki energy blasts and flying are common.

The series is broken down into multiple parts which act as individual stories, all following the same timeline and canon. The series can at times be violent, with blood and occasional instances of gore. Deaths of background characters happen infrequently and may be graphic.

Timeline

Part 1: A Blond Ray of Sunshine

Antoshi and Fireball are on a boat from Fuchsia City to Cinnabar Island, having just earned their sixth badge in Fuchsia. Their objective is to collect all eight Gym Badges and reach the Indigo Plateau. Once they earn their seventh badge in Cinnabar, they move on to Pallet Town, while being followed by a mysterious person. This person is revealed later to be Matt, a member of Team Rocket.

Before they can obtain their eighth and final badge in Viridian City, Fireball is lured away and kidnapped by Matt and his accomplice Jalyn. The resulting emotional distress of having his best friend stolen from him causes Antoshi's latent abilities to unlock. His powers allow him to single-handedly capture the two Team Rocket members and rescue his friend. Afterward, they move on to the Viridian Gym and obtain their final badge.

Along the way, however, Antoshi experiences strange nightmares in which he witnesses a faraway event. The event turns out to happen in real life, resulting in the destruction of a small town in the Johto region.

Part 2: Sibling Rivalry

After the destruction of Fern Town, the sole survivor is found to be a young boy with black hair. He is in a coma, taken away and hospitalized. After officials investigate and find no cause, the boy is believed to be the perpetrator. Still unconscious, he is secretly moved to a military black site for the danger he poses and to find out what his secrets are.

The boy, later revealed to be Latoshi, has lost all of his memories after awakening. He gives in to mania from lack of human contact. He is greeted by a disembodied voice in his head calling itself 'Lazarus.' Lazarus teaches Latoshi how to harness, wield and control his Ki. Latoshi eventually becomes strong enough to escape his prison before destroying the entire black site.

In Kanto, Antoshi and Fireball compete in the Indigo League's semiannual tournament, but are defeated in the first round of the bracket. They return home to Saffron City and take several months off. After Antoshi's thirteenth birthday, the duo decide to embark on a new badge-collecting journey in Johto. They travel to Goldenrod City, led partially by Antoshi's curiosity of his perceived link to a recently destroyed Johto town.

Latoshi flees to nearby Goldenrod City. Guided by Lazarus' influence and the lingering bitterness inside him, he believes that darkness exists in the hearts of people. He begins a campaign of killing those he deems as 'parasites', in order to bring about a 'perfect world.'

Antoshi develops a sixth sense that draws him into a chance meeting with his apparent twin, Latoshi. The two are shocked to find that they appear almost physically identical, save for the color of their hair. They get along for a brief time before Antoshi, with great suspicion on his mind, presses him with questions regarding the destruction of the Johto town.

Latoshi lures Antoshi into the Ilex Forest, where he reveals his plans for his ideal utopian world, by murdering anyone Latoshi deems evil. He invites Antoshi to join him. Antoshi is shocked and vehemently declines. A clash between the two young men with superpowers ensues.

Latoshi, who wields more control over his powers, emerges victorious. He leaves Antoshi bloodied, brutally beaten and nearly unconscious. Fireball is also left unconscious and badly injured. Lazarus insists that Latoshi kill Antoshi. Before he finishes Antoshi off, he has a last-second change of heart. With a vague threat, Latoshi leaves Antoshi unconscious in the woods. After, Lazarus creates an excruciating noise in Latoshi's head. He warns the boy never to disobey his orders again.

Antoshi briefly awakens to a vision of a young woman who also appears to be able to use the same kind of Ki energy he and Latoshi wield.

Part 3: Intervention

Thoroughly infuriated over Latoshi's threats to harm his friends and family, he becomes embroiled with the thought of revenge against his apparent twin. Antoshi begins to train his powers as best he can. He is consumed with the memories of his fight with Latoshi and ends up being unable to sleep.

He goes to study and learn about self-defense and martial arts through relevant books. The next day, he detects someone's Ki nearby. He quickly rushes off toward it, believing it to be Latoshi, only to find it is the young woman that healed his injuries — a girl named Serenity.

Serenity explains that Latoshi is being manipulated by Lazarus, a parasitic spirit feeding off of Latoshi's energy. Antoshi is shocked to learn this, and Serenity pleads with him to promise that he will help Latoshi instead of trying to kill him. Antoshi agrees, and Serenity parts ways with him.

Latoshi continues to train as Lazarus orders. During which, he begins to regain some of his memories. When Latoshi starts becoming rebellious toward Lazarus, Lazarus that he is the reason for Latoshi's lost memories, having been purposefully blocked them in order to keep Latoshi loyal to him. After which, he blocks more of Latoshi's recent memories, forcing him to continue furthering Lazarus' goals.

Latoshi attacks correctional facilities around Goldenrod, killing hundreds of people. Antoshi trains feverishly, while also searching for Latoshi for several days. Antoshi finally detects his presence along a beach. He leaves Fireball at a safe distance before confronting his counterpart. The two of them resume their previous fight. Antoshi quickly gains the upper hand after having trained excessively since.

With Antoshi's new skill and power, he gains a clear upper hand in their fight very quickly. Latoshi becomes enraged, but Antoshi continues to outclass him with overwhelming speed.

At one point, Lazarus' spirit starts to infest Antoshi and feed off the boy's negative emotions. Antoshi begins to brutalize Latoshi, showing no remorse. Lazarus opts to take full control of Latoshi, and almost immediately turns the tables on Antoshi.

Lazarus restores control to Latoshi, just as Antoshi is about to kill him. Lazarus' voice manifests in Antoshi's head, egging the boy on, offering to give the same guidance to him as he had with Latoshi. Fireball pleads with Antoshi to stop, and the blond-haired boy snaps out of his daze. Lazarus forces Latoshi to retreat, while the rest of its control fades away from Antoshi.

Disheartened with himself and upon learning he cannot help Latoshi any further, Antoshi walks away with Fireball following behind him. After they return to their hotel, it is revealed they've been followed by a mysterious trench coat-clad individual.

Afterward, Latoshi is distraught over Lazarus taking control of him — especially after how loyal he's been. Lazarus blocks his memories yet again, continuing Latoshi's loyalty to him.

Part 4: Family Reunion

Antoshi, disappointed in himself for losing control and nearly killing Latoshi, decides to attempt to resume his journey through Johto with Fireball in order to find a semblance of normalcy. Things only become more complicated when the pair confront a trench coat wearing stalker, who eludes them by turning into water and escaping down a storm drain.

Later, they find a lone cabin in the forest. A cheerful and friendly young girl with blue hair greets them at the door, introducing herself as Mimi, who lives there with her only friend, a Lapras named Bubbles. The pair get along very well, but Mimi, who can also communicate with both Bubbles and Fireball, appears to be hiding something from the boys.

When Antoshi catches Mimi turning her hands into water while doing the dishes, he realizes she is the earlier stalker and confronts her. She becomes upset and reveals that she is actually Antoshi's long-lost sister, and that her name is Mitoshi. She explains that when her mother was pregnant with twins, her house burned down. Unable to afford taking care of their children, she gave the twin boys up for adoption, naming them Antoshi and Latoshi. Some time later, they came into money and decided to try starting a family again with her husband, resulting in the birth of Mitoshi. After Mitoshi learned of her brothers' existence, she became obsessed with finding them, eventually doing so when their powers became much greater and clashed for the first and second times, allowing her to sense and follow their Ki, which led her to them.

Antoshi is stunned by the revelation that he is actually adopted, knowing that he needed to speak with his parents about it soon. In the meantime, however, he continues to stay with Mitoshi, and the two resume getting along well together.

At the same time, Latoshi is dealing with a well of pent up with anger from Lazarus' continual memory suppression. He decides to seek out Antoshi again, finding him in the cabin with the mysterious girl. He waits until Antoshi and Fireball go out to train in the woods before dashing in, knocking the girl out, and leaving a note for Antoshi to meet him at Mt. Mortar.

Antoshi does so, taking Fireball with him, but refuses to fight Latoshi anymore, stating that his brother needs to break free of Lazarus' control. Latoshi threatens to kill the unconscious girl at his feet, but Antoshi tells him that she is their sister. Latoshi is stunned, but believes he's bluffing to try to confuse him, and fires at the girl. However, Serenity shows up, making a split-second save and bringing Mitoshi a short distance away to safety.

A mysterious young man appears hovering in the sky overhead. He introduces himself as Collin, Serenity's older brother, and the previous host for Lazarus. Serenity is unnerved by his presence. Lazarus tells Latoshi that everyone is banding together to trick him, and that he needs to leave immediately. Furious, Latoshi does as he is told and escapes into the woods around Route 36.

Later, Latoshi has a moment of mental enlightenment, deciding to muster all the strength he can and ejects Lazarus' spirit from his own. Lazarus is outraged, and, before disappearing from the boy, he leaves Latoshi with a threatening promise to return.

When Latoshi awakens during the night, he finds himself almost completely drained of his spirit energy. He decides to wander around through Goldenrod City, hoping to figure out what to do next with his life, and eventually comes across a man being threatened by a pair of men pointing guns at him. Latoshi takes care of the men with ease, and the man introduces himself as Emilio. Latoshi helps Emilio to get aboard a train so that he can be with his daughter, all the while fending off Team Rocket. Serenity appears before Latoshi, telling him she saw the good deed that he did, and suggesting that he go and talk to his siblings. Latoshi mulls over it.

Days later, Latoshi still has not regained the majority of his strength. However, he senses someone's Ki nearby, and follows it to find Collin. Collin explains that he sees much potential in Latoshi and his siblings, and leaves Latoshi terrified over a small sampling of Collin's power that levels a building in an instant. Serenity appears to rescue the lives of the people and Pokémon within the building while the building is falling, and Latoshi begins to wonder just how powerful the two of them truly are.

Latoshi soon reunites with his siblings, and moves into the three-bedroom cabin with them where he is treated like family. Latoshi's emotions unlocking by being with them allows his strength to fully return, but with it comes all of his missing memories. He breaks down over realizing that he is the reason why Fern Town was destroyed, and that, in doing so, he killed his adoptive parents. The sibling trio and Fireball go to Fern Town, which by then had been turned into a beautiful memorial park. He goes off alone to speak to the headstones of his parents in an attempt to find closure, before returning back home with his newfound friends and family.

The sibling trio decide to go and meet their birth parents for the first time. They get unfortunate news that Mitoshi's parents were in a car accident, and rush over to the nearby hospital. The only injury sustained was a broken leg by her father. Mitoshi introduces her brothers to them, and they spend some time talking to each other to learn more about one another. Content, the sibling trio leave the hospital and return to the cabin once again.

Part 5: Frozen Summer

A freak summer blizzard emerges and envelops Goldenrod City, along with Route 35, where the siblings are, Routes 36, 37, and moving gradually into Ecruteak City. The blizzard quickly becomes life-threatening to both people and Pokémon. Following a squabble with Mitoshi, Latoshi storms out of the house and comes across two Pichus who are freezing to death in the snow. He quickly takes them back home to nurse them back to health.

Bonding at a phenomenal pace with the twin Pichus, the sibling trio are soon able to communicate with them like they can with Fireball and Bubbles. The Pichus introduce themselves as Poka and Chika, eventually telling them they know the perpetrators behind the blizzard are 'people who look like Pokémon' living in the woods around Route 36.

The sibling trio go off and investigate, soon finding a curious area in the forest where there is no snow. They run into Kage, a young man whose physical appearance is similar to that of an Umbreon. He feigns ignorance about the blizzard, but when the sibling trio refuse to leave, he suddenly uses a mind manipulation technique to force them to envision individual hallucinations based on their deepest fears. The siblings eventually unlock a new ability to communicate telepathically, breaking free of the hypnosis. Kage turns out to be fairly weak, and Antoshi knocks him unconscious with a simple chop to the neck before they move on.

A short time later, they are encountered by Celeste, a young woman who also bears physical similarities to an Umbreon. She is far more hot-tempered, and she and Latoshi quickly get into a war of words which breaks down into a physical confrontation. Celeste has incredible power, durability and speed compared to Kage, and is more than match for Latoshi, breaking his right arm at one point. Latoshi musters a newfound level of strength and knocks her out with an immense Shooting Stars attack.

They soon come across the vortex that is churning and powering the blizzard. In its center is the leader of the mysterious group. Before they can confront him, they are stopped by a young woman named Myst, who has the physical features of a Raichu. Mitoshi opts to deal with her, but is quickly outmatched by the more experienced Myst. Mitoshi, however, rushes into the cold storm clouds overhead, using her water form powers to rain down upon Myst as Ki-infused shards of hail which render her unconscious.

The trio tear apart the vortex and find Ken, the leader, who has physical features of an Articuno. He shows concern for Myst, who awakens when he checks on her. Infuriated, he faces off against Antoshi. The blond-haired boy overwhelms Ken with his speed, but Ken is durable and cunning, eventually playing dead before launching a barrage of sharpened icicles at the sibling trio. One is deflected and becomes lodged in Ken's chest. Antoshi, however, renders aid to him by using his newfound healing powers, taught to him by Serenity, and saves the young man's life. Humbled and grateful, the group of four, now known as The Clique, offer their friendship to the sibling trio and agree to end the blizzard.

Powers of the Verse

The Verse has numerous characters that possess abilities far beyond normal human limits. By the end of Part 1, Latoshi already displays a Small Town level destruction. In Part 2, Latoshi also displays a City Block level feat in destroying the military base, which appeared to be effortless for him. In Part 3, Antoshi is able to match Latoshi's level of strength and overpower him. Lazarus possesses Latoshi and introduces the stored away power he'd been stealing from Latoshi to gain the upper hand in the fight against Antoshi. With both of them having Reactive Power Levels (RPL) and having been confirmed to gain power exceptionally fast via their fights, they have high potential for rapid growth.

In terms of speed, both Antoshi and Latoshi display Supersonic movement by dodging bullet fire in Part 1 and Part 2. In Part 3, while carrying Fireball on his back, Antoshi was able to run on foot at Hypersonic speed — over 6,000 mph. While controlled by Lazarus, Latoshi displayed speed greater than what Antoshi was capable of processing. In Part 5, Celeste moves at High Hypersonic speeds, which Latoshi eventually catches up to with his RPL. In the same story, however, Antoshi moves faster than Celeste can even keep up with during his fight with Ken, putting him possibly at High Hypersonic+.

For defense and durability, Mitoshi is the standout. She is able to absorb tremendous amounts of punishment with her water form ability, as well as regenerate her body with nearby water sources, including snow. Additionally, she does not feel pain while in this form. In her battle with Myst, her limbs and torso were evaporated away without any issue, later regenerating herself back to normal.

Serenity is an unknown factor, though has displayed feats of surprising speed and flight. Her most notable technique is healing, which she teaches to Antoshi.

Attack Potency:

So far, the highest calculable feat for any character is City level. In Part 4, Collin reveals that he is the perpetrator behind the destruction of Slateport City, putting him immediately at least at City level. In Part 5, Ken's ability to produce a blizzard capable of covering Goldenrod City, Ecruteak City, and parts between, puts him also at least at City level. Antoshi's victory over him puts his strength at least at the same level.

Strength:

Most characters in the series rely on striking power heavily in fights. Through tests of strength and spoken dialogue with other characters, Latoshi is physically strongest of the three siblings.

Speed:

Ranges from Superhuman to Supersonic in bursts between Part 1 and Part 2, and moves on to Hypersonic (Mach 7.8) in Part 3. As previously stated, in Part 5, Latoshi and Celeste move at High Hypersonic speeds in their fight, while Antoshi's likely High Hypersonic+ (at least Mach 50) speed feat trumps that.
